Making a new handle would be "easier" but I really liked how the restored handle turned out! It is really interesting the methods that you've used to restore it!
Okay I'm gonna tell you this right now. Since your an early comment Tysy liked. It came up to me that instead of you saying "methods" it was just "meth"
Wait… what?
@@vincedibona4687 c'mon at this point both is fine with me
@@vincedibona4687 read the comment
@@metalhead522 Wait, what?
In this case, restoration of the old handle gave it a certain charm and appearance. Bravo!
I agree. Since this will not be used i think the original handle makes sense. If this was going to actually be used, the handle is a serious weak point since it is used in the process of how the tool works. Looks nice
Totaly agree !!!
I love when it's possible to keep the original one. Holes are a good contrast with the shining metal !!!
@@remiflandrin7129 That's what gives it its charm. You must admit, there's not another like it.
Agree
Totally agree... real nice repair and restoration techniques on that handle.
There is always a certain excitement when "I make a new one" but sometimes the old original parts have more charm and definitely show more history.
I would have thought that the handle was beyond repair, but you did a wonderful job of restoring it!
Yeah, I've thought the same, but the outcome looks really great. Antique look in fresh polished and shiny condition makes it unique and I guess even better than brand new.
Yeah, I thought it was trash too, but he pulled it off beautifully.
Definitely like the refurbished handle. It shows how you can fix it, instead of throwing it away.
I thought that old handle was toast. Amazing how it could be brought back.
@@dontmindme2844 да лучше новую сделать , а не заниматься этой ерундой , она же по-любому треснет с лёгкостью и всё .
@@fqac Если сломается эта, то сделает новую 😉.
@@dontmindme2844 Me too!
Yeah, me too. I'm all for saving the original of anything, if it's possible.
"Secret Files" 😂 Brilliant! I vote for the handle restoration, it gives authenticity and I love the way you did it
I'm always so happy to see you restore and mend the older wooden parts!
I can safely speak for everyone here: we all love watching you and My Mechanic make new things....but....
.... sometimes, it's a true testament of your skills when you bring something back to life. I'm glad you kept the old handle here and taught us how to "soak it to save it". 😳
As long as the old part can be restored to full functionality without any weaknesses i'm all for keeping the old part. If that is not possible then you can make a new one. Other than that, fantastic work as usual, keep it up! :)
Better than I could have said it
I don't even mind if it has weaknesses, I prefer saving pieces of history over actually using them
Making a new wood piece is good. But restoring the wood piece is superb!!!!!
I’m so happy you kept the wooden handle. Amazing.
I love how you rescued the original handle. I allways like when as much as possible of the old stuff is salvaged.
I was just on ur channel thinking 🤔”when is he gonna post a new video” and suddenly you do😂
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😑😑😑
Me too
I am very surprised how well that handle turned out, well done, well worth the effort. another great restoration
I'm a fan of restored handles that show the history and dings and nics. That said, I don't mind resin enhancements like color filling large cracks etc
That wrench turned out great. I especially love how the handle turned out. Keep up the awesome work.
If you need a file (tool) for a project one day, you should pull it out if the "secret files" envelope. I think it would be HILARIOUS!
This isn’t just a restoration, it’s a work of art! Well done!
Most restorers tend to make new pieces, often with great success. But I like it when you restore the old pieces, it is the memory of the tool.
Definately the restoration of the wood was great. The use of the hot water to get the wood to bend back into shape and relieve the tension, then the epoxy use to get it all back into shape. nice.
Nicely done. As far as the handle is concerned, they've always been designed to be replaceable. You did a great job on this one.
I thought that handle was beyond saving, but you proved me wrong. You did a great job at keeping the character and making it useful by strengthening it. Awesome job! Love your videos. 👍
Seeing the old part restored when it's possible and reasonable is a real pleasure.
Sometimes it's unavailable which is sad in it's own way. But it's the nature of old tools to someday degrade beyond repair.
Restore the old handle is much more interesting than making a new one. Superb finish.
I actually like both: restoring old handles and also making new ones. It always depends on the outcome. I think you did a lovely job here ☺️
Impressed with what you did to the handle. I see the value - well done!
Yes, for the first time of all the restoration channels I watch, Tysytube is the first one who restored the wooden part of the object! That's what I call retsoration and not renovation or building new. Please keep on keeping the wood!
Big point for saving the handle rather than simply making a new one. The joy of watching restoration videos is watching how you guys get creative in saving the original parts as much as possible.
This turned out fantastic!!! Personally, when there are that many bug holes in a handle, normally I would say remake it, but you made it work for you! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️
That's not bug holes its Swiss wood😁
As far as restoration videos go - you, sir, are leader of the pack. Exceptional editing. You honor the original creator of this tool by retaining his (her? 🤔) original handle.
The old handle, cleaned up and varnished, plus the shined metal equals the most beautiful item I've seen.
I'm sure that Hand Tool Rescue guy would LOVE this wrench...such a beautiful restoration!
Beautiful work! I am so glad you decided to restore the handle.
Restoring the vintage handle makes it look so good.
That's what is called true restoration. Everything came back to life.
Thanks
Thank you for this amazing video yet again 💜
Excellent job! I much prefer when you restore the vintage (where possible, of course)
I love it man. I really like these smaller tools/item restorations.
Fixing the handle was my favorite part. It shows the history of the tool
Restoring the original handle, priceless! Tysy, you are amazing! 👍👏👍👏👍👏
This came out really lovely. I appreciate the effort that goes into restoring something like this, there is an artistry to it that you display well. We throw out too much already anyway
One of my favorites of yours in a long time. I love how you get that mirror finish on metal.
Saving the original handle is a true gentleman's touch.
Restoring the handle was the best decision. The water bath to relieve the tension in it was enlightening. Excellent restoration!
When we wake to a new video from Tysy you know it's going to be a great day!!
Personally, I love it when as much as is practical can be reused. some epoxy i think is well worth the effort. :)
I love when you restore the old handles it makes me unreasonably happy
I thought it was WAY more impressive that you restored the old handle. When it split in half, I literally said "Uh oh," and thought there was no recovery. It was awesome how you brought it back so beautifully!
Totally awesomeness!! Great job man!
Lets appreciate this restoration !
3:08 the sound it makes when sanding. Extremely satisfying
Huge respect for fixing the original handle.
I just watched the same wrench get restored on LADB Restoration.. interesting to see how you both went in different directions. great work!
I never thought it would end up looking that good. Kudos.
Restoring the old is always best. Turned out beautiful.
I like that you keep the original handle. That's truely restoring
The charm of the handle works great with the metal. Well done! Might as well reuse everything you can, if it doesn't hold up, I guess you will get a second video out of making a new handle 😂
If handle doesn't have any ornaments or something like that, I think it's better to remake it.
I enjoy when you make your own wooden parts, the pieces come out more customized and personal, and shows ur creativity
Saving as much of the original tool or anything antique or vintage is in my opinion the best thing to do.
While we do enjoy seeing the making of new things, such as on My Mechanics Channel, we also very much enjoy that YOU restore and preserve what exists!
That turned out very nice! You do good work. I figured that you would pitch the handle. Totally forgot about uv resin. What a difference it made. Did you get new equipment? I don't recall see the sander at 1:17 before.
Dude, you don't just restore things, you make them works of art!
I love refurbished parts. It adds so much more character to the tools. You do amazing work
Great job on doing the handle, it looks great! :D
Oi amigo, parabéns pelo seu trabalho. E obrigada por alegrar o meu domingo. Um abraço aqui do Brasil
Digo o mesmo. Simples e bem editado, com um resultado final impressionante. Restaurou tudo!
Love how the handle tells the whole story of the finished item.
I love the refurbished handle. It shows the character of the original tool.
What simple yet fascinating🤩 restoration especially the handle love how it looks and how's the process of restoring it to better one and i'll say it's the best process i've seen yet on handle restoration, oh speaking of handle question if it's possible from your perspective and knowledge that the vintage handle is repairable then do your best to restored not into the very original looks but to very comfortable to hold and latter is to make close replica of what the vintage handle looks like..........
anyways sorry if my comments is too long 😅😅😅 wish you the best and wait patiently for new content ✌️✌️✌️
Tysy is back can’t believe it’s been a month already , it’s like watching a Jedi build his lightsaber, quality as always.
Its really welcoming to see the original cracked handle to be restored compared to the most other restorers.
It also came out fascinatinly interesting.
I liked the fact that you kept and restored the original handle.
What a fantastic job! Probably easier to make a new handle m, given all the work you put into it. But, the handle really is awesome! 👍
Over the years I've accumulated a lot of old tools that I got from the scrap and restored.
I'm happy to say that watching you has giving me some inspiration and new methods to restore my own tools.
Restoring and using these tools I got brings me much joy :)
I’m always more impressed when someone can restore wood
“It takes five seconds to harden.”
That’s what she said… or hoped…
I love how you used the same handle. I didn't know there was a way to bring that back, but BOOM. Tysy made it so!
This restored handle is so much more beautiful than any new one.
I love the fact that you restored the old handle!
I like seeing both making a new handle and restoring the old one. However making a new one is done much more frequently so it's really nice to see the old one restored in videos like this one!
Admirable restoration of the wood handle - much preferred over a replacement. True restoration as opposed to a renovation. Bravo!
I like that you choose to restore the old handle. Great character!
My new found CZcams obsession brings so much stress relief in my life which is much needed right now
Absolutely correct with that handle. If it CAN be restored then original is always preferable and you have shown that it can. An elegant piece. Thank you 😊
I am amazed at how you brought that hopeless handle back to life. I learned something today. Excellent job!
So many restore channels make new parts- I like that you used the original!
That handle was definitely worth the work. I love the low key steampunk vibes i get when i look at it
The literal definition of "So Satisfying".
Love that you kept the handle. Terrific craftsmanship.
I cannot express how much I enjoy these videos. Thank you so much! 😄👍
DEFINITELY restoring the handle if possible. It’s apart of the history as well. That wood is even older than the piece being worked on. So I’m very happy you took time to save it!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Restoring as much as the original possible is always more appealing to me. You did an excellent job restoring the original handle. I love your attention to detail, you are one of a kind in that regard. The best of the best restoration master.
I appreciate when things can be repairedand saved. I know it's not always possible. You outdid yourself with this.
YEA! YEA! Finally you heard me.
Recovering rotten wood from the handles with epoxy is an important step in preserving the piece's history.
The ideal would be to arrange a vacuum chamber to impregnate the resin, but it was very good.
FANTASTIC!
I really like how the handle turned out! Strengthened the wood but gave it a natural finish.
I love that you have a tool for EVERYTHING!
Glad you kept the old handle. It's more original that way.
Keep the original. It shows the life of the tool. I love the way you preserved it
I love restorations, because anything we can do that don't create more trash in the world is a better choice. It is an art that actually helps the enviroment.
