restoring all old console that out of date
even those that haven't expired yet
You should restore an old Xbox, you did nintendo and PlayStation now do xbox
you are a total genius, I really love you!
I have a sega game gear you could restore for me 😂😉
You should try to find a Sega Master System
He doesn't film for us to see, he films to remember how it goes back together
Two birds one stone
Interesting video.
I wouldn't be able to put it back together neither if I had hours of footages and someone told me what to do step by step.
Also I would have lost the first screws immediately and then every other little part.
I would have ended up painting it yellow and using it as a display for bananas.
You’re just humble and modest...but i bet you could build a new one from scratch blind folded and tied to a bed...wait..i’ve gone too far...
That's why I film myself
Not only does he spend his time fixing these cool things with no crappy music, but he also makes awesome stop motion parts with it as well. This is why we love this CZcamsr.

When he blew in the game catridge so many memories came flooding back.

Specially playing Double Drangons
its been proven that blowing in it does nothing at all. we only assume it did because its the last thing done before the game worked but in reality it had nothing at all to do with it finally working.

American version so much nicer looking. This is a piece of junk
You would never think there would be so much parts in one of those!
This guy is genuine, not one of those people that are like “oh wow i have coincidentally found a game console in the middle of a field!” He actually bought a junked one off of ebay
yeah like that one channel that would restore these "vintage" collectors things or whatever and they where usually those cars but they would say they got them on the side of the road when clearly looked like the thing was dumped in oil, dirt, and like painted on
Whaaat? How is that so hard to believe? I find gaming consoles everywhere in everyday life. In a field, in the gutter, 3 foot underground (where I would naturally be looking), in a tree, oh and In a box on my front porch with some weird words on it. A-M-A-Z-O-N I think is one of the words..🤷♂️

Hyrdo Peroxide and UV will make plastic more brittle and lose its color faster. Even though it's restored, it could be making more damage. Although it does look lovely temporarily :) just be careful not to try to restore something precious until you did extensive research. Otherwise you'll be banging your head against the wall

We need more people like this to make sure every generation of consoles will always live on for newer generations & collectors
Working on newer consoles there’s no chance, built of really shorty plastic and held together with clips rather than screws to be as cheap as possible you can’t disassemble them without breaking something half the time.
Absolutely you right!
Yes
This shows the need for emulators. It will not be possible to restore endlessly, sooner or later it will completely deteriorate.
@@dumiclumic4423 yeah there will be a time when there is no way we can fix things
We still have an SNES exactly like this in our family! It’s about 30 years old by this point but still works after all this time. I love coming home and playing Super Mario All Stars with my family.

I'm Japanese. Thank you for fixing our treasure:)
Sunlight works well for removing yellow parts and bring it back to original color depending on how deep yellowing and how much temperature of sun in your area.
I am confusing that some people are saying the biggest reason for being yellowing is sunlight directed into plastics for long time.
If it is true, why sunlight removes it too.
I believe the reason is humidity and high temperature and maybe smoking a lot can affect too.
You can tell this guy knows what he is doing when his first reaction to it not turning on is to blow in the cartridge, classic move
I remember when we kids did so every time, when inserting another game.

Very impressive getting the case back looking brand new.
This has to be one of the best videos on the internet
For those not in the know, the best pat of these kinds of restorations is that you're not only making them look better by retro brighting them, you're repairing the plastics, too; the plastics these consoles were made with went through a process called bromination, which made the plastic fire retardant. An unforeseen consequence of that process meant that the plastic degrades over time, especially when exposed to UV light, with the characteristic yellowing of the plastic. More worryingly, the plastic gets weaker the more progressively yellowed it becomes. It was discovered some time ago, and I assume by complete accident, that exposing the plastic to UV light after cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide reverses the degradation, and far quicker than it took to degrade in the first place. It should be noted that the reversal is not permanent; in another 20-30 years, without proper storage, perhaps even with proper storage, it will need to be done again, assuming the console lasts that long.
That's incorrect. The process is not repairing the plastic. In fact, it's further damaging them by applying the same type of thing that degraded them in the first place, and it's been reported that the process of yellowing will happen again much sooner than it did originally. If you want to look into it for more educated explanations, please do.
It s not 20 years, in few years the yellow get back... check 8bit guy test.
The yellowing is due to oxygen not being exposed to light. I had a bin of white Lego from 30 years ago that were closed in a light tight box that turned yellow. Oxygen destroys!
You're VERY wrong, sir. Retrobright unfortunately makes the plastic even weaker. I did that to my Dreamcast and yeah, it was pristine white... for a while! I stored it away from any contact with sunlight and after just a few months it was just as yellow (if not more) as it was before. Retrobright is not worth it at all.
total nonsense. "retrobriting" weakens not strengthens the plastic. what silly rubbish you're peddling 👎
I never can get over the magic of reversing yellowed plastic with hydrogen peroxide and LED lights. What a transformation! Great job👍
i think it’s UV lights not LED
I think this is how teeth are whitened
@@amystrader5139 They are both. They are Light-Emitting Diode that emits light with in the UltraViolet spectrum.
Ever hear of Chemistry, and how H2O2 is used as a bleaching agent
Does that really work as shown in this video? The clean parts look almost brand new. And the lettering wasn't affected by the 4 days of the H2O2 bath and UV lights? 🤔
