Screw grabber: very unecessary, very pleasing.
That's what I NEED too, buddy. I am a model train collector and buyer, and so I ALWAYS collect junk engines that I take apart everyday
It's also very useful for mechanical keyboard hobbyists. Makes the lubing process much cleaner and you have better control when it comes to brushing the switch stem
magnet: "am i a joke to you? :("
@@andriuson not all screws are ferrous though
The screw grabber footage: when you have to use a new tool to justify buying it
Wait, something from Apple that you can easily take apart and repair yourself. I'm shocked
Great comment. I was looking to see if they had those little purple humidity detectors that void your warranty basically as soon as you take a product out of the box.
Thats Apple before the iPhone
Savage 😂😅
That was late 80's, this keyboard was a big fail from Apple, like the Newton... But it was fixable! This time is over of course...

It’s amazing to me how many “broken” things just need a good thorough cleaning.
Sure cuz that’s totally true
Ikr
Also very easy to destroy things when doing a good cleaning.
People are very wasteful out of laziness. It's sad really. Most things would end up in the ocean or somewhere
Go right ahead and pop open my skull to give my brain a good scrubbing then lol
1:18 Is it just me or is this claw tool the most adorable thing in existence
YES
Agree
Yeah it reminds me of total recall where he extracts the tracker from his nose 🤭🤣
I was thinking the same thing!
Digital Phoenix v
That shot at 9:55 is amazing. His logo in the background out of focus gets refracted into focus through the liquid. I'm not sure if he planned that or if it's just a happy accident, but it looks great.
I had a cool idea for a much better, more “permanent” UV tank! Start with a fish tank of the appropriate, useable size. Clean the glass on the outside of the tank thoroughly, removing any and all residue (fingerprint grease, soup, label adhesive, or whatever is present, it’s very important to clean the surface of the glass first). Then, apply a silver mirroring paint (which available in many places that sell spray paint, as well as online) or, if you want to be fancy, a 2-part mirroring kit. You can cut the lid of the tank to accommodate the lights, of make your own from another sheet of glass of clear plastic, with the same mirroring technique used on the rest of the tank. It would be 100% reflective, and so more uniform and effective, and safer to use, as all IV light would be contained.
I'm noticing all the typos in my comment, now.
Oops! Oh, well. At least it still makes sense.
Oh god no way
@@xrqckszar7077 I know, right? It's **crazy!**
Or just use mirrors inside the tank cut to fit the sides.
@@IratePuffin That's an awesome idea. For many, it probably would be easier, and give a better result.
So I'm the only one who loves the fact that the seller was honest about why he shouldn't buy it.
Same it is so rare these days

You know i would probably be more tempted to buy it if someone said not to
why was he selling it at an expensive price then lol

I’m sure Steve Jobs is looking down and smiling 🙂
Meh, this keyboard was introduced in 1993, when Steve Jobs wasn't in Apple since 8 years, and 4 years before he came back.
Though honestly I wish apple still did this kind of thing
@@FrIoSrHy they sell overpriced pc's and peripherals. Isn't that awesome?
@zatty it just isn't the same
ok
I can put forth the effort to brush some dust off while this guy restores a keyboard, documents every step of the process, and adds stop motion transitions. Byotiful.
An ergonomic peripheral device from apple?
Now I've seen everything.
It was made while Steve Jobs was away.
Well, even the earliest generation of Macbook was so modular. They just went full retards.
It was made in 1992, Apple was always ahead of the curve even back then.
The only thing Apple does ergo in, is therefore.
@@Indrakusuma_a Apple laptops for the most part haven't been very modular aside from allowing you to swap out memory right from the beginning. Since you say the 'earliest generation of MacBook' you seem to be talking about the 2006 MacBook which replaced the iBook G4 which is far from the first Apple laptop.
Taking things with several pieces apart gives me anxiety because I’m scared that I won’t remember how to put it back together lol. It is really satisfying to watch though.
Try taking notes, pictures, a drawing/scheme, and maybe even record taking it apart. You could always try it with something simple or that you don't use very often, like taking of the keys of a modern keyboard. Also a good way to clean it lol.
Oh, and always organize screws and stuff when you take things apart. Use little plastic boxes for example
*reads this comment while stalling from trying to figure out how to put together the thing I took apart last week*
Yeah, I agree
This is why I’m not a mechanic because of that fear
Just record you making it in pieces and then put the video you recorded in reverse mode

Remember when Apple used to make equipment that was repairable? Good times!
Also remember when people used to buy apple for the quality not because of the name? Good times indeed.
i remember the good days when Apple actually had usb ports/ports that dont just use their signature apple usb-c ports. Good times, real good times (and more convenient than… now).
Remember when iPhone's battery was good?
Remember when they didn’t have multiple camera lens on their phones that doesn’t work and triggers my trypophobia, good times.
@@somedudefromapharmacy
You dont have trypophobia. It's literally a meme phobia the internet told you you should have. Very few who claim to have it, do.
I remember keyboards from that era having such a satisfying feel to their click. I miss that today.
take a mechanical keyboard with brown switches, have the same satisfying feel
Love the animations used... and, to be honest, you are a multitasker, man. Keeping your humour, and working on an object with concentration, is not a joke. I wish you all the best in your journey of both your youtube life and your health. And yes, inspired by you, I have started restoring things as well!
I bet your projects would be so much faster if you didnt have to find all cool camera angles 😅 i love your work man!
I think that all the time! And it’s not just finding good camera angles, think of all the recording and lighting equipment getting in his way while he’s trying to work.
they would indeed! depending on the creativity and diversity you want to introduce in your video it can cost anywhere from 2 up to 6 times as long for the same project.
It's not just camera angles I'm sure.
@@_playa_ no, a lot of time goes into planning
when you are working on a project it is really really easy to just keep working. but still by far most of the time is lost during the project and filming it. And after that you can expect the editing of the video to take anything up to 30 hours for a video of 15 minutes
@@StefsEngineering yeah, pretty much all that was what I was talking about
Can we all appreciate how long it must have taken this man to do stop motion on all those keys. I'm liking and subbing just for that
Mildly frustrating. Just want to see the keyboard cleaning and end result. All the filler material frustrates me. Can appreciate the effort nonetheless.
I kinda don’t like it. Seems like a huge waste of time and the clicking sounds of them moving is very annoying. I just want to see the restoration. Also I personally would rather see him put each individual key in the keyboard and sped it up rather than make it look like they are appearing there. It’s somehow less satisfying.
@@notadhdeveloper4994 well yes but think about how he doesn’t put adds in, no annoying background music, and the process is kinda satisfying
His editing and stop motion is just over dramatic, and really unnecessary since the restoring itself is good enough content.

@AlexUndentified german keyboards are qwertz not qwerty
Or about putting the cord in liquid
I used to have the English version back in the day. Nice to see the insides. That big button is the power button. I can still hear the Apple startup sound.
Great restoration. I started getting into mechanical keyboards in August 2022 and have really enjoyed the hobby. This keyboard is awesome, I would love to have one if only for the nostalgia.
Back when Apple had intelligent design, a keyboard to naturally fit the typing hands. Very cool
If this would be intelligent design then others would copy it. But it seems it was not a good design since 99,9% of keyboards are not like this one.
