Since the second generation of Deutsche Bahn's ICE trains, two trains can be coupled together to have a longer train. Because coupling and uncoupling takes not much time, there are also trains like on the route from Berlin to Cologne that start coupled together and part at the station of Hamm: Then both trains continue towards different loctions.
The two ICE 3 trains shown here in the video are the international version, BR 406: They can not only run in Germany but also in Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands. They were also able to run through France but were superseded by the newer BR 407 in France.
