    Thank you sir. Yes, it clears up a lot of questions concerning the different types of fobs. The colors and labeling really do need to be more clear but as you put up the chart and explained the difference between them, I can now share these with my techs and have more success.

    Hi, Great video & explanations- general question. I am a locksmith however only new to auto keys. Today I did a spare key for a 2014 Subaru XV using the purple super remote chip generated with key tool then using an Xtool programmer via OBD for the transponder and then onboard programming for the remote. Is there a general rule of thumb in the order that you generate the remote before generating the chip? As what happened to me was I generated the chip in workshop then generated the remote. Then when I went to program the key at first it was failing. I then read the chip again in my key tool and it was back to default, then regenerated the 82G chip for the Subaru and programmed strait away. Then onboard programming for the remote worked first time. It just confused me as to why when I generated the chip then the remote that it wiped the chip setting. Hopefully this makes sense? Basically just seeking advice on if this is a thing that you need to generate the remote before the chip with the X horse super remotes? Thanks :-)

    Really appreciate your effort in trying to explain the mess Xhorse made with the naming of these keys. I’ve watched this video several times but I need to clarify a few bits.
    1. Is the super remote, just a wireless remote with a super chip?
    2. Can the super remote only be used for cars that have a remote learning procedure or is the remote learnt when programming chip?
    Thanks

    • @russej02
      @russej02  Před 2 lety +1

      Super remote has a super chip and can only be used on vehicles with a separate remote learning procedure. Wireless remotes have an nxp chip. On the those the remote learns on when you program the chip.

    Well I still cannot grasp the difference between the blue and the purple ones. There are definitely some vehicles where the remote is added automatically when programming the transponder that successfully accept the purple remotes. Meanwhile certain models can only be generated on the blue. So your point is not proper enough with all due respect. There must be some other explanation on that.
