    This woman is an amazing player. Her tone production and her understanding of the music of the highest quality.

    Wow, what phenomenal playing. Most amazing to me is the very individual interpretation which goes well past the normal limits for me of rubato, but succeeds because it fully illuminates the music and stays true to the original conception of rubato in that the time is not lost, it is just borrowed and returned so that the pulse remains.

    I have learned to play the Cristopher Parkening transcription which I think most Virtuosos play in the world and I am hooked to his playing here posted on CZcams, so fluid and expressive is Christopher Parkening's recording as well.

    Moving, musical, powerful, sensitive. She unlocks the potential of the guitar like few I've heard. And without the shrill, plastic sound of nails, but rather focused and precise fingertip tirando and apoyando. Tarrega, and Pujol, the earliest masters of the instrument, played this way as well. Inspiring and satisfying music.

      @@58ameriken She's a fantastic player. In the Segovia tradition her playing is full of colour. If only more players today followed the same path!
      It's a bit misleading to say she plays without nails because strange as it may seem she needs the nails to be long enough to support the flesh. So, it's better to say she plays with very short nails. I too play with the shortest of nails, and I agree with her that in this way you can produce a great variety of tones, but it takes a long time to master. The problem I have found with flesh only, is that if you're in a concert the adrenalin flows and the hands can get sweaty! You can't play the guitar with sweaty fingertips! That's one of the reasons to have a bit of nail too.
      As she says in her interview: “When you play with flesh only, the flesh doesn’t bring a robust sound, that is why you need to have nails to support the flesh as long as the tip of the flesh, never over. For that reason we can dig into the string and boost the sound with power and good color.
      “This is playing without nails. Segovia taught me this nail’s-length technique. Then, I incorporated it to my tip shape to maximize the sound quality.”
      See her thumb nail at video 2:10, Chopin Valse 64, number 2.

      She appears to be in a state of deeply concentrated listening. In my opinion this is something that sets her apart from many guitarists, who are busy looking at their fingers and less busy listening to the sounds. When you let yourself hear it, you will feel it.

    • @Michajeru
      @Michajeru Před 5 lety +1

      It's not acting. I do the same when I am practicing at home in my study with nobody around. I do it to concentrate and really listen to the tone that I am producing. Also to try and feel the music and get into the groove so to speak. Not that I am anywhere near her level of playing.
