- These are 3 alarms I have been using on my boat for many years. They are inexpensive and effective. Nothing totally protects everything, but I feel much better when I have to leave the boat and rods unattended for a while.
Below are Amazon links.

Mike, as always, really great video to teach us joe smoes how ya do all that ya do. I really found this very helpful. I always worry that my gear is going to end up gone in 60 secs while I'm getting that biscuit so going to be getting some of these devices. I have been a subscriber for a couple of years and really enjoy your content. Keep teaching us how to find and catch them big mommas.
Thanks Roy!! I really appreciate you taking the time to post this!! 😁😁
Great stuff! Thanks for sharing
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
I tried out the recommended motorcycle alarm, zero problem. Easy to hook up, red to red, black to black, ignored all of the other wires, bells & whistles meant for motorcycles. Thanks Mike, solid recommendation
John Sagman awesome!! Mine still works well! Thanks brother!
Has anyone made a video how to install it?
Great idea! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you dig it!! Thanks for the comment brother!
Thanks! I recently got a MarCELL Pro to monitor shore power, temperature and if water gets too high in the bilge! Works really great and doesn't need wifi but is $14 per month since it uses cellular data. Small price to make sure my boat isnt at the bottom of the marina however!
That’s awesome brother!!! Sea Pro is working with Boat Fix now. We will be doing an instal video soon actually. It’s nice to see some sensible affordable options finally. Thanks for the info!
Great tips. Been looking at what to do for alarm system...will look into theses
Thanks brother
Awesome video I was thinking the same thing its crazy how you have to spend $800 just to protect your stuff on your boat. There should be something simple like this. Great recommendation will definitely have to check it out. And the prices right.
This video is gold!!!! Great job.
Thanks Jonathan!! 🙏👍😁
Still kickin it old school put out those awesome videos I was wondering about your alarms I'm going to have to have some thanks for sharing awesome
Thanks brother!! 👍👍👍
Great info Mike!!!
Thanks again brother!!
Great video
Thanks for showing us what works 👍
Thanks Gail!!! I appreciate the comment!!👍👍😁
thanks for the ideas
Brent Taylor yeah man!! 👍👍👍👍
Great idea. There was an alarm for kayaks at iCast.
Cool!! The motion detector is great for camping as well, you can put that sensor anywhere, even on a tree aimed at the boat for Instance. How much was the alarm at ICAST?
Thanks man
😁😁👍👍
I really like the motorcycle alarm. I’ll buy one when you share the info. Thanks.
Here you go!!! This one has an extra remote.

Great idea with the motorcycle alarm, I'll be ordering one of those.
I have a gps tracker on my Sea Pro, it auto reports once a day and I have geo fences set so if it moves I know it (boat is wet slipped). I any of you know someone at a used car dealership ask if they'll sell you one, they're a lot cheaper than the marine ones Mike talked about.
Philip Knights Thanks! Great info
That was cool
Glad you dig it brother 😁😁
My worst fear is someone stealing my $3500 trolling motor. I picked up my old IPhone 5s and had a new phone number assigned for $10 a month added to my normal plan. I connected it to my other IPhone through "Find my IPhone". Then I hid it inside my trolling motor while connecting it to the boat battery. If anyone steals the boat or just the trolling motor, I can find them anywhere in the world, or at least until the internal battery goes dead.
Nice wiring!!
Thanks brother
Thanks for the video. Can you share the link to the brand alarm that you showed inside the helm storage? The second one you showed and called it a "car alarm". And is it motion (equalibrium) or IR?
here ya go!! amzn.to/2Ek7qMr
It has a shock sensor.
Quest i already have 2 buzzers 1 for each inboard. I want to wire a warning 12v led to the 2 terminal buzzer. It has 12v across both term. key off when turned on buzzer sound and oil pressure switch activates the buzzer until started then turn to ground on 1 term.. I wired the light between the 2 term and works great. Should i use a diode or inline fuse for 1 side of the 2 term buzzer? These are tiny leds.
I wouldn’t think you would need a fuse there, but it can’t hurt right?
The motorcycle alarm is currently unavailable. Is there any other two-way alarm system that you recommend?
Hi Mike. Thanks for the video enjoyed it a lot. Question, what would be a cheap way to secure a boat from somebody entering it at night when the boat is on water? I'm trying to find an alarm from preventing my gas getting stolen. Unfortunately there's no way I can be connected with any WiFi connection. However I have security nearby but they're sometimes out on patrol. Again, the vid was very much appreciated. Thanks again
There are few more expensive alarms that can tell you when your boat has moved, but I’m not sure about removing a gas cap. It may sound simple, but have you tried a locking gas cap?
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS a bit difficult as we have ten boats being operated by local staff in a resort. I think I just need to look out for some sort of sensor to make sure that nobody's stealing fuel particularly at night.
Viper 3121V powersport alarms installed on a motorcycle and a boat. Table in manual has Shock Sensitivity 1-8 (default is 3); turns out 1 is most sensitive (found this out after motorcycle install) & 8 was least sensitive. Just the opposite of another brand car alarm I have, where 8 is max and 1 is least for shock. Maybe your Viper vibration setting is not on max ??
Could be. Thanks 👍👍
Thanks I have never even thought of adding an alarm. Gonna be so great not having to unload every time I get back.
How does the motorcycle alarm do on your batteries, any drainage
doesnt drain boat battery, but remote battery doesnt last too long.
Please advise me where I can buy an alarm for my 18 F boat that I keep on the water in a boat slip and won’t go off by waves setting it off .And that notifies me a mile away
I would use the motion detector if you have a t top. It’s just a farm gate alarm, but it’s cheap and works up to 2 miles away. It’s in the description.
Hey does that boat alarm reset it self after a while ? I’m asking because What happens if I’m out of my house and somebody triggers the boat alarm, I might not be back for hours to reset it.
Alexander Jorva All of the ones I have used do reset themselves after a certain time. I’m not sure exactly how long, but I believe it’s 2-3 minutes.
Wow alarms so cool....fish on....you should have used Max to set the motion alarm hee hee....
smokster0604 😁😁😁👍👍
Where did you get those clear bins that are mounted to the inside of the console door?
Office Max. Folder racks.
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS Nice! Mounted with 3m tape?
Shane Barnett yep!
Guys I just got a Shakespeare uglystik gx2 and the tip is really flimsy, is this okay for striper fishing? I'm concerned about getting a good hook set with such a flimsy rod tip
zach sabri For Live Bait a soft tip is great. If you are casting artificials you’ll want something stiffer.
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS okay thank you for response! I was concerned for when I yank the rod back the tension will not be strong enough with a flimsy tip.
Does anyone have a video of how to install it?
I don’t, but it’s literally 2 wires. 1 positive and 1 negative. That’s part of the beauty.
You need to get that roof fixt
that would be awesome for liveaboards so they know someone is on their boat while their sleeping
👍
Watch & love all your content but YES please get a mic! Also if you could tone down the shocking sound on your logo when you play it, i have the audio way up to hear you talk then your logo randomly pops up and its SUPER loud!
ITS OFFICIAL!!! Will do. Thanks guys. 👍👍
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS thank you sir for all the great content. I have really learned alot. Hopefully if you ever make it down to Atlanta I could hitch a ride and learn some in person
off subkect:... where did you get the storage bins handing on the console door
Office Max. They are folder bins.
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS Thanks been looking for something
Mike, I like your channel alot. Please get a clip on Mic
Dang, I thought I had my audio issues fixed. Still can’t hear me?
Adam Costa I cant use one with my gimbal.
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS I can hear you however at max vol/max vol i'm leaning in to hear you. By comparison a youtube AD is deafening at that level and your info is important and I'd wager you wanna monetize at some point which will make the transition from your current audio levels to an AD jarring. Just an observation as I see you put a lot of work into our presentations.
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS What are you using for video?
Adam Costa Gotcha. So there is a big difference in levels between ads and the video?
I can crank the volume as high as I want when I edit. I use a lot of wind screens to keep the noise down on the water. I use GoPros with a few different gimbals. You will notice how smooth the camera moves. It’s dead still too, even in big waves.
I used a $2800 Video camera, but the Go Pro 5’s and 7’s put it to shame. It’s 1080p.
Thanks for the advice.
Wha
I sent you an email, need some advice.
what is the point if walmark can't stop robbery and police can't stop crime and you want to stop crime for fishing rod worth less than $950?
What is the point? Are you seriously asking me what is the point?
