@@Rubo7 absolutely. They actually work a bit better on Hybrids than Salt Stripers. If your lake has Gizzard Shad in it use the 8”. They may feel too big, but they are just right. If you don’t have Gizzards and have just Herring you can use 6” OR 8”. The new Team Old School double gold has been killer this year and the team Old School copper is probably the most consistent color pattern we’ve used for all light conditions. Cloudy or sunny. 👍

@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS yes we have gizzards here. I fish Truman Lake. It's a reservoir that has a dam which they use for flood control and produce electricity. How would you target the hybrids? Same way as you did in this video? I just purchased one of those 2d sonars you have on your boat. I have a hds12 live at my console with the 3 in 1 trandsucer, also I have a In hull transducer. But I see that the Airmar you have, makes a better picture and better arches. Also from your experience does a thumper and splasher work for whites and hybrids? I will go and purchase some of those spoons, never used them so I hope these hybrids won't mind them. 👍

@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS also I just purchased 2 of each of those spoons you listed. Why does the gold and copper work for hybrids if gizzards are white? Also how would you rig them up? If I'm spot locked, do I have to activaly jig them? Or do you mostly drift?

@@LexCTF I use the smallest size for vertical jigging. It’s the 300. 400 is the same diameter spool, but wider.

@@chrispeerman7445 It’s the law here. Because the fish are in the act of spawning and-or recovering from spawning they MIGHT be in a weakened state before they get hooked. A barbless hook does less damage to the fish, and in situations like this where every boat can catch and release over 100 fish you can imagine how much damage is averted.

😂. I know exactly what you’re talking about. I don’t really need these for my situation because I keep everything in my boat, but I use the smallest version for a boat bag. Just personal stuff like gloves, sunglasses and headlamps and it got heavy FAST.

@@robertwestrom6878 Aftco makes a few backpack versions that are killer and way easier to carry when full. The smallest one has a camelback and file system for plastics that weighs around 5lbs when packed solid and the largest one can weigh 30-40lbs if you’re not careful when packing it. It holds 8-10 of those larger size trays.

@@codyleach1543 great question! The GENERAL rule is 1/3 of your depth is the diameter of the cone’s circle at the lowest point (on the bottom) so in 30ft of water your cone would have a 10’ diameter. However, with more transducer models coming out all the time (mostly with wider cones) this rule of thumb is becoming less and less accurate. The Airmar website has a chart showing numerous possible Bottom coverage’s. 👍👍👍🙏🙏

For jigging these spoons I prefer a slow pitch rod. You can use any brand slow pitch rod in 6’6” or less and I recommend a very light power. We use MedLight. It’s a short whippy rod, but it’s excellent for this style of jigging. You can get my signature jigging rod from Rich Coulson if you want something very high end. His info is in the description.
