    Referees who try to hurry the fencers by saying engarde-pret BEFORE the fencers are ready does exactly what you said, allows the later fencer to dictate the timing. They need to change to say engarde - wait for the fencers to be still THEN say pret-allez.

    How is Sandro allowed to fence after the headbutting attempt?

    This channel does some of the greatest work for the entire fencing community. Also, really good clip of the football ref talking. Good attention to detail.

    Do coming back from 40-43 vs Szilagy was amazing, worth watching that one too, Hugary were 30-20 down and dragged it all the way back before losing on the last hit!

    I'm not always the best sport on the piste, but if the ref shows me he's not afraid to throw card I WILL shut up pretty fast lol.
    There's a precedent being set that if you're number 1 in the world you can act like a child, both these guy should be a better example regardless.

    I think Patrice's card was for crossing with his counter attack. Agree it's reprise for Bazadze, too many steps back IMO. Agree with your analysis of every call here. The mistake at 12-13 is the worst one because it makes the biggest difference in the fight. Patrice could easily have been black carded here at the end for both the chest bump and the thrown mask. Bazadze's aggression, leaving the piste toward the referee all the time is intimidation which isn't acceptable either.

    i have been told that they were only teasing the ref, they saw that he was giving very bad calls, so they just started playing with him. now i think that they still have a good relationship.

      There's bound to be some corruption or extremely poor management in the other weapons, but there is a lot more ambiguity for sabre, the only instance I can think of for epee is the time error in the London Olympic Semi Final Women's bout between Shin and Heidemann

  • @MorganLefeuvre
    @MorganLefeuvre Před 5 měsíci

    And also for the women’s individual competition in Lima, I think it is interesting to look at the bout of Berder vs Perez (L64) with some calls especially the last one being kind of weird imo, and the bout of Apithy Brunet vs Pusztai (L16) for the same reason especially the drama after the last touch. I am not going to theorize about whether the referee was trying to favor one side or the other because I don’t know much about that but I feel I general a lot of bouts are having controversial calls. Really controversial…

      A video will never be made about these bouts because the names Valiyev and Nazlymov are not related to the bouts. Channels like these are only trying to trash Nazlymov and Valiyev at this point. They don't truly care about corruption in the FIE or bad calls they only care about taking down Valiyev and Nazlymov.

    Assuming there is as much corruption as indirectly stated in this video, who in their right mind will dare to black card a top fencer, knowing what the backlash from the corrupt officials will be? Explains the complacency of referees towards top fencers.
