  • These 14 signs that someone may be lying to you must be interpreted with caution, because each person's behavior should be compared to his/her baseline behaviors during honest moments.

These signals someone is being less than honest are based on the review of hundreds of videos when we knew the outcome in advance.
This is simply a commentary pointing out behaviors that occurred when someone was later proven to have lied. Every liar displays slightly different behaviors, and a baseline should be established prior to observing subtle changes in behavior evoked when the person is lying. This commentary is not intended to serve as a functional behavior assessment (FBA) nor as a formal analysis which is required to determine why behaviors occur. Never thought about comparing these behaviors/indicators of lying to someone's baseline behavior. I just always thought of it as this is how someone always behaves vs. this is a change in behavior when they are lying

Also, I will add to this discussion. To really identify lies, I would suggest it is extremely difficult. I will add however, that the best way to do it is to look for discrepancies that are genuinely pointing in the direction of untruth (like completely different accounts of the same occurrence). It is extremely difficult, and indicators like what are being shown in this video are very misleading indeed!

More than Baseline, is a key statement here that many people ignore.

Ok, I’m at the airport and decided to watch another video on deception. I came away with two thoughts:
1- A lot of what you mentioned is spot-on, and can really help establish a baseline of a truthful or deceptive subject. I often look for clusters of behavior and pay attention to a lot of the indicators you spoke about. Nice job!
2- I feel really, really bad for an applicant that decides to not tell the truth during a job interview with BDA. They don’t stand a chance!

8:03 This info is making my hairs stand up because the hunches that I’ve had when I suspected past partners lied to me were obviously correct. Lol this is fascinating. This wasn’t mentioned but what if they start crying right away when you ask a direct question? I think I know the answer 😂 I’m so mad at myself for falling for it and feeling bad for them in the past. Also if you think it would be a good content idea, would you consider making a video of how to act aloof when you’re trying to catch someone lying? Maybe add some role playing demos or phrases we can use that could help us have a leg up on the liar? Thank you, I’m new to the channel and loving it while also grieving the moments I shot my intuition down 😂

Lying is one behavior that I despise, The video clip on the 14 signs of lying was interesting and helpful. The signs were explained in laymen's terms opposed to scientific terms that many individuals cannot relate. Awareness of these signs encourages me to be completely honest despite the perceived outcome. For example, many people lie about availability in order to get the job. Then, the job is secured however; availability times don't match what was indicated on the application. Lies, such as that can create a blurry vision of character, it can impact a company's belief of available resources or personnel; among other things. Therefore, being aware of these signs is critical to performing a job or service at optimal levels.

It is slightly confusing though as there are contradictions; they look you straight in the eyes but they may also look away or even close their eyes, they say what and pause or create a long response. I understand there are many signs but these seems a bit vague to be honest as it only includes a small portion or individuals and not those with possible illnesses.

I think when people are uncomfortable and stare they want to make you more uncomfortable than they are so they do that to make you mentally feel their anger. It's as if they are willing you by staring at you to feel uncomfortable and back off. This happened with a neighbor of mine. Because I tend to notice micro behaviors, I really noticed her angry squint and staring at me hardcore like to tell me back the heck off you jerk. What it really was is that I corrected something she lied about and it triggered her to stare at me in an angry way. The thing is I did not respond to her the way she was hoping. I stayed strong in my statement and that just burned her hide. She smiles and is fake about things and she knows I am on to her and it drives her nuts.

@@TheBdinovi1 hmm, i guess I can see why it is hard to understand my question, i think i may have been a little all over the place in how i worded this.
i guess what I am trying to ask, is how do you figure out someone is lying through actions/ words etc..
so here is the biggest example.
the person i am referring to is a total charming person, and i believe to be a manipulator and i thought he was honest.
so an in law of mine who has a doctor (well out of state) had acces to a local team i love for sports. but they were not free. but i had about 6-7 weeks prior to the date of the sporting event, although they didn't give the time until 1 week prior due to the way TV networks do things these days, which is sort of lousy, but it is what it is.
anyway, i wanted to make sure I had someone to go with who cold spend the 100 plus dollars on the 2nd ticket before telling my inlaw to have their contact send me the tickets, becasue I was oging to have to pay them for it.
so i started with 3-4 diffrent people i knew for a long time i could trust but none of them could go. i than realized the guy living by me whom i just met recently and was charemd by him, but yet i had a wierd feeling but didn't listen to my gut. anyway. i thought he was trustworty.
he liked the team very much that the tickets were for.
so i asked him, and i made it crystal clear to him i am only getting these tickets once I have someone that can go and can pay for the ticket. he told me to give him 24 hours to check with his family and other people etc.. to make sure.
sure enough 24 hours later he said it was a go.
at this poinst it was 5-6 weeks prior to the game.
2-3 times a week for the next several weeks he kept reminding me he was going and couldn't wait and kept asking me what time th egame was. i kept telling him i thought it was be early to late afternoon most likely but could be a night game. as he knows that.
but about 1 week prior as this was in november *the game) turned out to be a night game). which the low temp was going to be upper 30s which is a little on the cold side.
so a week prior he started hemming and hawing about the fact it was going to be colder by game end but never siad he was not going.
about 6 days beforet his he mentions to me there is a remote possiblity that his 2nd job. a side job that he doesn't even need. as this person owns their own business. just does the side job for a little extra cash and for fun. it is a pizza place bascially. only works 1 day a week. he always worked one weekday every week never any other day of the week except one specific holiday that is the busiest day of the year they expect everyone to show up.
      but that had already passed.
also, a person whom owns their own business would know that you tell a place ahead of time you want a day off and give them a reason. so he can't possibly know that he should not tell them even in case there is a possilbity of a sehcudle conflict.
so 6 days prior he mentions to me it is "possible" he may have to work the side job and "but... not very likely, in the last few yeas i only had to work saturday a very very select handful of times. so the chances of that happening are almost slim to none"
i asked him "well you just need to tell them you can't work, becasue you already have 100 plus dollar ticket to a game, they will certainly understand that" he didn't pay any attention to that, aso i said "when do you know" "tomorrow they do the weekly schedule" and i will call you as soon as i know.
so nothing happens. never hear form him. i then see him Wednesday (remmeber this game is on saturday). i said "well you didn't say anything so I assume you are not working on saturday" he said "no i guess not"
      or somethinglike that.
also, his spouse just left that day to go out of town 1000 miles away. and would be gone for the next sevearl days. inluding the day of our game.
againg every day hemming and hawing about the cold. even though he goes out walking evne when it is dead of winter which is 20-30 degrees colder sometimes . and he wear layers etc..
anyhow, so he basically sounded like he was still going only 3 days prior.
his normal day to do the side job was thursday and early afternoon, literally 48 hours before i would be getting ready to leave for the game, or 'we would" be (as the location is 30-35 minutes away, the town we are going to on game day would make it take probably another 30-40 minutes to get through town to parking, it would take 15 to 20 minutes to walk to the stadium from the parking places, and another 15 or so minutes to get through the gates and get to our seats. so bascially for a 730 pm game you would really need to leave no later han say 545, and 6 would be cutting it really close.
so he texts me early afternoon "i have to work the pizza place on saturday 11am to 630 pm. so i wrote him a message showing my dissatisfatcion but also tactful saying "dude, you told me you would nkow your schedule on tuesday, now it is diffrent? and also, you need to tell your boss you can't go as you paid 100 plus dollars for a ticket on a game that is hard to get tickets for which you knew for several week and i in fact made it clear to you i would not have gotten and spent the money on these tickets unless i twas confrmed." irmeinded him of this.
he said. well i have to work but i will talk to my boss tonight to see if he can change it.
i will let you know when i get off at 9 pm.
so getting someone to go to somethign like this even 2 days or less before something last minute to spend that kind of money on, especially with covid and likely half my friends not wanting to go into a crowd just yet. it is limited who would go. i started emaoing 1 or 2 peopel saying there was a posibly i may need someone to go but i will know by 9 tonight. my one friend has a 19 year old son who said he would go but he didn't have money.
so anyway. i see him that night to go out walking around. he says he has to work, BUT. he said he talked to his boss about it and that the rason he has to go in is it is "madatory" becasue coporate is coming in on saturday, that is whay EVERYONE has to be there. i mean i figured the early time of 11 was maybe so they could meet all the employees at the local pizza shop. this is a huge national chain with over 1000 locations i think it is that large.
but he said he will know friday morning, his boss will call cororate and see if he can get out of it. i even told him, even if you can get out 1 hour early we can barely make it.
so now he lnigers me into the next day to further hopefully prevent me from trying to get somoene to go.
i ask him when will he know. he said the boss is in at 10 am and talks to coprate than and will know by 1030 or sooner and that he would call me the minute he knows, no later than 11 tops.
so 11 rolls around. 1115, 1120. so i msg him asking what he found out.
he says "oh, well looks like my boss won't let me off, he is such a jerk. i am so very angry about this" if you have someone that can go in my place you can go ahead i guess. now this is barely 24 hours before i would have to do. so i did check with the person that can't pay but they said they would go but they wuld drive and also pay for parking. btw. my friend who was supposed to go even after saying all this says "but I am still working on it"
so i told him i got someone to go that can't pay but that is all i got.
so than the next morning he calls me up to go for a quick stroll at 1020 am. . remember he has to work "mandatory" at 11am for corporate HQ right? we are walking around and 11 passes by and he says dang we better get back i might be late for work. oh and btw. his spouse was on speaker earlier and she said I hope you guys have fun tonight at the game, bundle up, i know it will get on the cold side later.
i asked him "so wait, you didn't tell your wife you were wokring the side job" he sad "no, she would have been too angry with them .
and yet he has me in his house hanging out and it is now 1230pm. still hsn't left for his 11 am time shift that was mandatory.
and said. wlel i should start to get ready for work now.
oh and it gets even better.
i am at the game. he text me "be sure to take lots of pictures. i want to send them to my wife that way she will think i am there with you" i don't know if that was the precise words. but it was something along those lines.
so a copule days after this. as we are taking a stroll, it is dark out mind you,
but i say"so how did your pizza thing go? (he drives and makes tips) . he said "well ok i guess. i says to him"oh yeah, i know, i can't believe how stupid they are, forcing everyone to work just becasue corporate is there which makes no sense since it takes away everyone's tips and they probably don't need every worker there unless they are busy enough to require it.
his claim was the corporte is there to do , at least from what he described was some sort of quliaty control.
it was dark so i coulnd't tell his facial expressions but he seeme dlike 'yeah, oh yeah, right, i agree. yeah"
i have no way to know for sure if he really had to work. but this was the process
givne he screwed me over out of over 100 bucks which is not easy for me since I don't make that much to just do that for someone. really ticked me off.
i later found his business/own businss reveriews seeing sevaral former employees complain that he underpaid them and had several people saying they were filing court law suits in the past t try to get themoney they were owed.
i mean. i think i know the answre
but, i guess i am asking. how do you know someone is lying to get out of something?
btw. i have been not returning a single text or message or anything for over 2 weeks now. i am walking away . cutting off.
plus he also has texted me a few times on days i told him i was busy to check to see if I could still go do our excercising togehtet later. no matter ho wmany times i told him i was busy. such a total pest.

Very rarely will people give the whole story but that is natural defense and it is not necessarily an indication of actual lies. It is more a case of people formulating answers that are necessary to meet the requirement of what is being asked. Under certain circumstances, these will indeed will be actual lies... but these things (in this video) are so connected to behavior that is not lying, that it is virtually worthless. I would consider someone who gave 100% honesty in all things to be borderline psychotic, unless they were a very small child like a prepubescent.
