Oh No! I Dropped a Hatching Egg

- Despite my good intentions… despite being oh so careful.... I crushed a duck egg two days before it was supposed to hatch. For the next 48 hours I had to take care of it to give the little duckling inside a chance.

Hi Everyone, did you see? The channel has just passed the two Million Subscribers milestone, Yeee. Quite a humbling figure. I’m so grateful to all of you loyalty to the channel. Thank you so so much.
Ahh, and now to you, my Spanish speaking friends :)
I have had so many requests to translate our videos to other languages… I have been listening, I have been working… And since I also speak a little Spanish myself, I have just started uploading to a new channel in Spanish.
Why a new channel and not just translated subtitles? Well, imagine Albert’s channel being in Dutch (I live in the Netherlands) and only with English subtitles… that would just feel different, right?
So, a Spanish channel with our little videos in original Spanish.
The official announcement will be soon, but in the last couple of days I have uploaded the first three videos and I will try to put a new one up, maybe even every day. It will take a while before the two channels are in sinq.
If you like you can take a look with the link below (hint: ever wonder about my accent in Spanish? Check the opening video :)
In case you like it, I would be very grateful if you would share the new channel with your friends and family… Let's try to make this channel blossom too.
It is called Ab Ovo
Espero que lo disfruten

He makes a tiny mistake that might cost a little life, so bears the consequences for two straight days to make up for the damage. If that's not the definition of saint, I don't know what is.
I literally was going to comment something like this!
Watching all these videos of his makes me think he is the next St. Francis of Assisi
True really true. I wish more people were like him.
Yeah your right :D
A saint is a person that loves virtue to the point of heroism, to the point that nobody but God can demand another person because it requires personal sacrifice and risk, often either major or long-term, and without expecting social or environmental reward from it. So yes, it does fit into what a saint would do.

The time you put into protecting that cracked egg was incredible and I'm happy that your sleepless nights were rewarded by a healthy little duckling 💖
❤True❤
I had a chicken that imprinted on me when she was little and she used to sleep in the crick in my neck and follow me around. Her name was peep she went everywhere with me. she used to wear a leash and harness and I would take her into pet stores and to my grandma's house. She was almost 10 years old when she passed away. That bond I had with her was one of the best things you can get with an animal.
I used to have a duck that would the sam things like your chicken
Awwh peep is such a cute name! :) thats a very sweet story and even though sadly she is no longer here you still have all your good memories together. thank you for sharing. I would love a little chicken or duck! maybe one day. :)

I have that kind of relationship with a kitten I found. It wasn't moving, I thought it was dead when I first found it but when I got closer I saw it twitch then attempt to meow. Even my vet said she wouldn't make it, she was too far gone but I had a feeling and the way she tried to meow at me, it told me this kitten wanted to live. So I worked with her, I stayed up for days with barely any sleep doing everything I could for her. I bathed her, I stimulated her to go toilet, I did gentle exercises to make sure she stretched her limbs at all hours of the day. I'd carry her around with me, I have a fluffy hoodie with a big pocket on the front and she'd be in there or in the hood depending on how warm it was. Over time she got stronger and stronger and would not leave my side. I remember the first day she went to the litter box on her own, I was so proud I wanted to cry. I started taking her to work with me (they were really good about it since she wasn't impacting my ethic), she would just curl up on my lap and occasionally pat me when she needed the toilet. I took her back to the vets a couple of months after I'd originally taken her in and the vet cried seeing her because she was so sure she was going to die.
She's 14 now and is currently asleep in the fluffy hoodie next to me. She's too big for me to carry her in the pocket anymore, so instead I lay it out and she nudges inside the body part and sleeps there. She still never leaves my side.
Thank u for taking ur time to save this kitten

This man not only did everything he could to save this duck but he spent the next 48 hours every 20 minutes keeping this egg wet... Wow
RIGHT! He is THIS dedicated with ALL his animals ( and no doubt his human children).
We've been hatching chickens for years now. Every now and then we have had incubator problems and only one surviving chick. I happily carry her in my bosom hanging in a bandana around her. She sleeps a lot but when she wakes and is older, she pokes her head up, out the neck of my shirt. Over the years I've figured out which shirts work best. Love babying my chicks!
Whenever he gives the little birds warmness by his breath.... I am like.. I want it too. I just love them so much 💕

"Have you ever been this close to an animal?"
I got my cat when she was about 36 hours old. Her mother had kitted on my neighbor's porch, and abandoned the litter. The neighbor was a really kind man, and was trying to save the kittens, but couldn't manage the constant care of all 5 newborn kittens by himself, so my roommate and I took on 2 of them (one for each of us). We were able to split the care since we worked alternate shift times at our jobs, and my corgi helped out a bit too with cleaning them and keeping them safe.
I would walk around the house with both kittens sleeping in my front hoodie pocket, though eventually they got too big to both fit, and then I would put one in my pocket and one in the hood. To this day my cat, who is now almost 12 years old, loves to sleep across the back of my head. She's a weird cat, what with being raised by two humans and a dog, but so sweet and affectionate.
You are a great person : )
If I could give five thumbs up I would. 🤗
Cristia, Here take my sub for making my day.

I have a cat that was like that as also, well when she was young anyway. Raised by a human and a dog, and I'm pretty sure she used to think she was part marsupial🤣. Didn't much like the front pocket of the hoodie much, but absolutely loved laying in the hood while I was hanging out around the house, washing dishes, Etc. If she wanted in my hoodie, she was getting in.😂Couldn't stop her. Way too persistent. She would just scale my leg and climb up in whether I wanted her there or not. 🤣
Hey ACCA.
I do have a very close relationship with my long haired grey and white tom cat. I got him at the beginning of winter. He was just weaned off his mom. He fitted in my hand like a little ball of fluff. I named him Deyago. I knew he would grow up to be big and strong like his dad. He slept in the crick of my neck. Under the duvet. Nursing at my skin until he fell asleep. We understand each other better than any cat I've ever had. I love him dearly. (Even though he is getting old and cranky.) 🐱

I raised a baby chicken who also loved to snuggle under my chin, and it made me so happy when she would run after me, chirping following me everywhere! When I found my cat Wolfie, he was a tiny kitten abandoned outside, his eyes barely opened. For 2 weeks I carried him in a scarf snuggled against my neck, and that was the only place he wanted to be. When he was a little bigger, he started jumping into my open palm whenever he wanted to be picked up.🥰

On our 5 acre property, we had little over an acre fenced in and she was allowed to freely roam with the goats and chickens. Once she allowed us to feed her by hand or pet her, she started showing her loving side. She fell in love with my dad and only stopped mooing if he was outside. We taught her to play tag. I have this beautiful doggy, her name is Pebel, she was the only one to survive in a premature litter of 6.
She wasn't breathing when she finally came out so I sat there doing chest compressions for 7 minutes straight. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard her first cry, the mommy had no milk and couldn't raise her puppy so I had to bottle feed her and make her poop with a piece of cotton wool every 2 hours.
She survived, she is the most lively, friendly doggy ever, she is extremely alert and she can't live without her fluffy blanky, funny enough, the soft spot on her head is still wide open and she is just over a year old...

i feel like any time he brings up any moment in which an animal in his care is hurt in any capacity, we all experience this
If the implications of this video sadden you, you should reconsider using eggs. Anyone who felt emotional about this video already understands the connection between animals and the value of life, but many have also dissociated between these eggs and the process of getting the ones in your fridge. But here’s the thing- they are no different.
Although the eggs you buy are unfertilized and unable to hatch chicks, the mother’s laying them are kept in terrible conditions (yes, even “cage free” and “free range”). Even your local, family owned farm is unethical as chickens are not meant to lay dozens of eggs at a time, naturally they would only lay about 10-15 per year, and those which don’t hatch would be consumed by the hen to regain nutrients.
Since only females can lay eggs, that means males are worthless to the industry and are killed on their first day of life after hatching, commonly by live shredding or suffocation. This is industry standard in the US, too. Those babies are no different than this one aside from species. Both lives are priceless, both should be given the same consideration.
If you feel sorry for an unhatched, live chick unintentionally being in danger or dying, consider not supporting hatched, live chicks intentionally being killed by the millions.

Yes
Other people’s wrongdoings: racism, homophobia, pedophilia etc etc
His: dropping an egg
Which he actually felt sorry about and tried his best to make up for it.
The only the mistake you've mentioned is "dropping an egg" paedophilia? A "mistake" really? Ugh! #offensive
@@TheFakeyCakeMaker how about “wrongdoing”? Is that less “#offensive”
@@smirkitrovfrownitrov5808 definitely. I agree with the spirit of the comment but not the letter.
I know people who let there kids have 4 budgies and let them starve to death and cannabalise each other for a year, I only could save one because one of them died the day before she was rescued
You are a really good man at heart and soul, persisting and not givin up on this little life is a really humble thing to do.
can we appreciate that he really envied that egg and wanted it to live cuz anyone could have said ‘oh well sucks to be you it’ll be to hard saving you’ but this amazing guy spent all his time he could have been using to relax to save this gorgeous duckling we need more loving people like this guy right here😭
The world would be so peaceful if everybody was like him.

Thabk you so much for showing that even those of us that dedicate our lives to rescue can make a mistake once in a while. We are still human after all. But like him, we do everything in our power to make it right again.
You are such a wonderful kind person, thank you for everything you do to protect and love these little souls :))))
For several years I fostered pregnant cats and newborn kittens. There was one litter, a bunch of 7 little furballs only two days old. The mom wasn't producing milk...she was a stray and malnourished. The 7 babies had to be hand fed with a syringe every half hour. The mixture I used was warm water and goats milk powder with the tiniest amount of wet kitten food for a nutrient boost. Every feeding was mostly water until I knew their little bodies could handle it.
The first couple of days were very rough, and I didn't know if all 7 were going to make it. If I wasn't feeding them I was sitting by their nest box watching mom kitty take care of them. The timeline all blurs together since we took each day as it came and went....eventually they opened their eyes and ears. They became strong enough to cry when their clumsy mom flopped on top of them, or when I picked them up mid-nap and they yelled in protest. They started crying at night until I moved their nest up to my bed so we could all sleep together. I would wake up with the softest little floofs snuggled up around my face in every possible way, while mom cat wrapped herself around my head and her babies. They got bigger and they got FAT because I was really spoiling them with the wet food. They would swarm me at feedings and climb up my clothes with their little dagger claws. I loved it because it meant they were strong and healthy like kittens should be. They were roly poly chunky babies and the absolute cutest, friendliest, happiest little kittens.
All of them went to wonderful loving homes, including momma kitty! I'll never forget the bond we formed and the love shared.
I love that you do this for kittens! Personally, I could never foster kittens because I wouldn’t be able to say goodbye all the time
Wow you are a good person. Wow 10 likes?
I love doing what you do but I'm not allowed as my mom is phobic to domestic animals and also I live in urban areas where daily life is too busy....
We need more persons like you and Albert's owner
@@Cooper-dq1ut I feel bad for you. Sorry! Don't be sad, please.
“Have you ever had a close relationship with an animal?
yes... i fed my parrot with my mouth when he was young. he wasn't just a parrot. i raised him like my own child. all that time we spent together was precious and then...... a huge robbery happened in my home 2 weeks back he got very scared and flew away. i dont care about my material loss. i just want my parrot back. need prayers

It is always hard to lose such a beautiful creature. I hope your baby finds it’s way home.
This guy deserves so much respect, he just spent so much work and time on this egg, it is extraordinary!
This literally made me cry… What a miracle life is… This man’s heart is made of gold.
This video really teaches something beautiful:
Mistakes happen, no matter how good are your intentions; we're all humans after all.
You have to understand that, so you can forgive the mistakes someone, or even yourself made.
Also, make everything possible to compensate for your errors.
Thank you very much for these videos, they're really inspiring, and bring a wonderful mood to everyone who watches. Wish the best for you. Keep up with that great work!
Yeshhhhhh >:3
Your good at making paragrafs
more importantly - make amends for the mistake. He could have let one duckling die but he spent 48 hours moisturizing the egg every 20 min, no sleep, just to save it. Now that's a real penance for the mistake.
Yes beatiful mistakes, remember Bob Ross
This sounds like something I would comment for online schooling
see guys nobody’s perfect even this absolute beacon of manliness will drop an egg every now and then
Indeed, manliness should not mean that high walls must be held up upon one’s emotions/pride.
how many of us imperfect creatures go that extra mile tho...?
But even a dropped egg was saved
Yes I do. My tea cup Chihuahua Roxy. She loves to be in my Robe or sweater all the time. Congratulations, She's such a quite 🥧 pie. That's so 🐣wonderful and amazing. I Love it The world needs more people like you.
