@Hippie Whovian - No, Deacy has a pretty distinguishable voice - you can definitely hear him at the end, Roger is still singing in his high voice so its pretty easy to hear John.
Why did John doubt his vocal skills so much?? 😟 sure he was shy but come on he's got a beautiful talent with the voice as well. It's enjoyable to hear 😂🤘
It hit me recently that John Deacon is not singing backing vocals on albums because I distinctively thought of Queen as a band, in which every member was a singer, a musician and a songwriter. Turns out he WAS singing, although mainly on live albums. To my delight I actually do know his voice and can easily tell it apart from Taylor and May singing: it is very distinctive and... Actually adds a bit of uniqueness to some of the live recordings of Queen. Very pleasant uniqueness.
The most distinct singing of John you can hear without messing with the audio is the Live At The Rainbow Liar, during the All Day Long part you can hear him well
Brian May actually mention in a video on youtube that on some of their songs, John would actually record the bass lines with freddie and brian on the choir parts!
He sang backing vocals at every Queen live show. He's a good singer. He just rarely recorded. Why? Because he wasn't needed. Freddie actually used to sing a lot of his own backing vocals. He obviously couldn't do that (sing lead and backing vocals) at live shows, so Deacon used to sing them with Taylor and May.
What concert was that "Lap of the Gods" from at the end? Their singing is kind of sloppy, but there is something so wonderful about it, like just a bunch of friends singing together after having had one too many. And it almost sound like Deaky's voice is carrying them through it all, which is quite a shock!
Cretmistress, love your comment (late but still!!). Ja, saw them live only one time but John Deacon did have a lovely true voice, exquisite pitch too. He adored this song - the concert in budapest (Hungarian rhapsody 1986) you can hear him clearly, also others on youtube, I should post a list one day. John sang backup vocals in many, many live concert performances over the years with queen, whenever the band needed him to. Mostly he was just happy to let Freddie shine, he loved Freddie's voice. John was very modest - he occasionally joked 'I can't sing!'. Freddie was also humble, called himself 'a mediocre pianist ' (he was phenomenal really!). Genuine modesty from two such incredibly talented and diverse musicians.
Aug. 19th 2019...Happy Birthday to John Deacon! I hope you are doing well and are enjoying your retirement and time with your family. Thank you so much for helping to create all the wonderful music that millions of people all over the planet still enjoy today! Wishing you a happy and healthy year ahead! We love you and miss you, Deaky!

But you heard him clearly in Somebody to Love? Also, I will recommend to look up Radio Gaga from Milan 1984, his voice is clearer than ever in that recording! ;)
Mmm I have the DVD "Queen live in Montreal and live AID" and it has an entriview and not that I hate Freddie or anything but I was woondering to listing to Deaky but Freddie talked in almost all of it. ):
Bronwyn J. McCartney, yes, he is so sweet!! I saw them live and he has a lovely voice. He sang backup vocals regularly for live performances, whenever the band needed him to. John was very modest and also just very happy to let Freddie shine. Actually Freddie was humble too, he said of himself 'I am a mediocre pianist' (he was phenomenal ofcourse!). So much sweetness and modesty from two such incredibly talented and diverse musicians - I could eat them both with a spoon.
btw what is the second song my chickens🤔💃🏼 ? edit: yeah I actually came back to this just like nothing after two month🤟🏻and am just still positive surprised peace out ladysss
Mrs Fahrenheit, the 'anytime!!' (.22) is from killer queen, then (.25 ) is from 'father to son'. John is such a sass god. Always adored him and Freddie - always will.
XD Qué manera de echar a perder el "In the lap of the gods" !! Menos mal que no cantaba en los discos en directo... de todas maneras... Gran Bajista Señor !!
Perhaps John had just an average voice, but up against Freddie's, it must have been pretty intimidating for him. But he sure was fun to watch as he danced around with his bass on the stage at every concert! Here is a great video from "86 Wembley concert with the cameras on Deaky for the whole song...and he is dancing in those cute yellow micro-shorts! Enjoy! czcams.com/video/8FIMdvwV95A/video.html
If only somewhere he sang on a studio mixed album because during performances not everyone is on their game. We are hearing different notes from various different shows from varying times during performances, of course there will be bad sounding harmonies. You must take into account fatigue, split concentration, and self preservation, you can see this happen at harmonies where all parties are concerned with either getting the note sung or belting it out as loud as they can. This ABSOLUTLY destroys harmony in performance hence why Deacy sounds worse than he is.
I second this comment. So many people still think singing voices are heaven-sent and unchanging, but the truth is that there's a lot of context mixed in as well. Really impossible to tell how 'good' he was generally without more stuff. He sounds no worse here than how many actual frontmen sometimes sound when playing live.
Courtney Och, absolutely! I saw them live and John had a lovely true voice with excellent pitch. He sang whenever the band needed him to, regularly sang backup vocals for live performances. This is a cute vid but there are other concerts where john can clearly be heard singing (in the lap of the gods, budapest 1986), with gorgeous picture quality - I will post a list one day! You can't see his feet... 😁
AHA
Oh no now i can only hear that
OMG IT ACTUALLY SOUNDS LIKE IT 😂😂😂
You can really hear John voice clearly at the "find me somebody to love" section and wow it's a good voice
Cynical Who I think it was mostly roger.
@@Fitzroyfallz It's mostly Roger.

He actually does sing on some studio recordings. From what I know in: Liar, Radio Ga Ga, Killer Queen, Somebody to love, One Vision.
I can't tell it
I can only here Roger and Freddie. Barely Brian so it's a little harder to tell apart him from Deaky
@@andyw.3048 lap of the gods
In several song, is really hard to find john's (and brian's) voice because freddie's and roger's is very loud

Brian sings the low parts.
At 2:37, you do actually hear him very clearly!
HateIronMaiden yeah! I can hear him! He had a great voice tho!
I think that was a bad example because it sounds very sloppy and out of tune.
HateIronMaiden Was it actually him
O my God.. he really can't sing.. he always has said it and i couldn't believe it.. but he is right... I'm sorry John.. 😙
Foh he sings fine
2:33 I will listen to them when they've sounded like drunk till my death

When I saw them live his voice was distinguishable. Not great but certainly fine for the choruses. Just lacking confidence.
2:36 cute
the oppotunities to hear john talking and singning in any video is low, he is really reserved... and that is what I liked about him xD
god i love live preformances of liar because deacy is all up on freddie during the "mama i wanna be your slave" part lmaoooo
This is the real life ....... i love you deacon
I think a lot of this was actually Roger. You can hear him pretty clearly in the last clip though.
2:36 go Johny, WO, WO LA LA, WO WO OHH!!

Am I the only one who can hear him clearly in “somebody to love” ?
He sings pretty well I don’t understand why he thought it wasn’t good.
at the "somebody, somebody, somebody, somebody" section, you can hear it so well!! his voice is so underrated and pretty!
Deacy sang like a actually angel!
I like John's voice , it really benifits Freddie's . Especially in Fat Bottom Girls .
Deacon’s mic was always mixed lower than the others. His backing vocals were mostly to have as many voices as possible on some of the choruses.
Como cantante es... un excelente bajista
Wow in the lap of the gods make me cry hahahahahaha
I wish he could understund that he has a great talent and that the fans love him and that he is the same important as Roger,Freddie and Brian
All heart which as I understand is what makes John the poet as well. I am both grateful and thankful for the example.
