- Sanamahism (Meitei: Sanamahi Laining, lit. "Sanamahi religion”) or Meiteism (Meitei religion) or Lainingthouism ("faith of God-king”) is an ethnic religion of the Meitei people of Kangleipak (Meitei for 'Manipur') in Northeast India.
It is a polytheistic religion and is named after God Lainingthou Sanamahi, one of the most important deities of the Meitei faith.

I'm Meitei from southern Assam. I'm following Apokpa Religion(Sanamahism)❤ Yes, Hinduism is similar to our ancient Meitei religion but not same practice. Our ancient religion is influenced by Eastern culture like drogon god.🐉🐲
In 1729, the King Pamheiba(Garib Niwas) was burnt our all ancient Meitei/Meetei religious holy books it is called "Puya(s)" and they forced to Meiteis people to covert Ramandhi dharma(Hindu) otherwise he will be killed or will get strict punishment at that time. That was black period of our Meitei history.
We have own ancient Religion and own Holy books and own Meitei script and own God and goddess and we have own identity.❤

As a place of God every houses of meitei places a special area of God like Mandir inside the same house. A pot with full of water represent the Ebodou Lainingthou Sanamahi and a small space area for his mother Ema Leimaren Sidabi in that area and we worship it.
Small correction, High court didn't grant ST status to Metei, HC just recommended to submit all the requirements for further proceedings in the Supreme court since it had been long pending, people need to understand it clearly.

And commoners are not influenced during this time. therefore, the king "Pamheiba" forced the Meitei commoners to follow Vainavishnavism. Therefore he collected all the Meitei (Sanamahi) holy books called " PUYA" and burnt them down in front of the Kangla fort. This incident is known as " PUYA Mei THABA" ( Puya is the name of the holy book like in Hindu "Geeta" Mei means fire and Thaba means to burn).

It's a nice video but you make a mistake. All the meitei are forcefully convertrd to Hinduism in 18 century. Sanamahei religion is not decline it was forced to destroy under influence of manipur king as well as his guru shantidai goshai. So, before update about something please research well and update.
We meiteis still majorly worship both Hinduism and Sanamahism...its just King Pamheiba was influenced by then magic(now science) by a bengali vaishnavi preacher, Shantidas Goswami. This led to burning of our sacred meitei scripts and leaving sanamahism in 1717CE and adopting Vaishnavism and Bengali Script now remembered as "Puya Mei thaba".
It's a propaganda spreading by the communist grp and christians ... They want to separate hinduism and sanamahism. Then spread Christianity. Other tribes also had animalist believes but it's wipped out by Christianity. Only bcz of Hinduism, elements of sanamahism survived. If hinduism persecuted or forced people then, Meiteis were not allowed to perform sanamahi rituals too along with Vaishnavism. ... In Bangladesh, Assam, west bengal... Meiteis are preserving their ancestors religion with the mix of Hinduism. They perform both the Krishna Kirtan and Sanamahi rituals. Getting separate from Hinduism, hating hinduism and converting into the sanamahi is nothing but the stepping steps to Christianity

It's talking about the time of King Kyamba (15th century) when a Vishnu statue was received from Pong. It's still now. But Hinduism was dormant during that time. It's only during 18th century, Shantidas Gosai from Bengal arrived and influenced king Pamheiba and converted the trailer into full movie. 😜

As in hinduism plants and animals are worshiped and even celestial bodies (All these practices were regularly done about 50 years before) so Sanamahi religion is having lots of similarities. Hindus of different states have different types of rituals. As Bengals brahmin eats non veg but UP, s don't.

So UP's brahman is more pure (in their gotra preserving more their brahman lineage) and more suitable for taking the puja offerings to make the puja more meaningful, than the bengals non veg brahmins who by eating non veg ipso facto imbibes more of the kashyap gotra, and the interplay of that lineage makes a part of the puja offerings go towards the kashyap'i side with probable effect on the offering taken up- as per the theory of Hinduism

My reading & understanding of history between the lines says that those who use god & religion in politics have their own hidden agenda
Eg.
Imperialists from west used Christianity during colonial period.
Though they said that only their god has a leagal right &guirantees to reserve seat in d next world .

Actually we are surrounded by Assam rifles, kuki is not big problem. They(kukis) have this ideology that hill = their land, and they justify killings of meiteis through that ideology, So matter how much blood is shed we will surely get our rights back. True. I am a meitei, and there was bloodbath before meitei were forced to take hinduism. Even then people did not discard there original faith.

No . Meiteis were allowed to follow Vaishnavism as well as the sanamahism. People even do it today. All the sacred sanamahi shrines in the hills were protected and respected by the Hindu Meiteis. King even built the Shrine of sanamahi deities after adopting the vaishnav tradition. Meiteis Hindus in Bangladesh, Assam, tripura even today respect and follow the both Krishna and lai haroba

Please let me clarify this very important thing to you Meetei is Manipuri.Meetei is not yet recognise as tribe so please don’t mention meetei as tribe.Manipuri language and literature is the mother tongue language of meetei so the conclusion is other tribe live in other than kuki are indigenous people of Manipur .We call ourself meetei Manipuri is the name given by British to us . There are other tribes like tangkhul and Kabui who are classified by British as Naga are indigenous people of Manipur along with meetei. So meetei is Manipuri and Nagas are also Manipuri Naga because they live in Manipuri. There are only two indigenous community in Manipur they are Manipuri Naga and Manipuri(Meetei)
