Ajivika or Aaseevagam, an ascetic sect that emerged in India about the same time as Buddhism and Jainism and that lasted until the 14th century.
Ajivika name mean “following the ascetic way of life.”
It was founded by Makkhali Gosala or Goshala Maskariputra a friend of Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism.
It is one of the schools under Nastika philosophy or heterodox (it does not believe in the authority of Vedas).

Some famous followers of Ajivika philosophy include:
1. Makkhali Gosala: He was one of the prominent disciples of Ajita Kesakambali, the founder of the Ajivika school of thought.
2. Devadatta: Devadatta was another disciple of Ajita Kesakambali and played a significant role in spreading the teachings of Ajivika philosophy.
3. Purana Kassapa: Purana Kassapa was a contemporary of Gautama Buddha and was known for his debates with Buddha on philosophical matters.
4. Goshala Maskariputra: Goshala Maskariputra was a close disciple of Makkhali Gosala and played a key role in promoting the Ajivika philosophy.
These are some of the well-known followers of the Ajivika school of thought.

Rhe reason buddhism flourished is because jainism and ajeevikism has extremities and a person cannot do or be in such religion. Buddha went through all these extremities and concluded based in his experiences that one doesn't have to go through these extremities and can attain enlightenment even without these and follow eight fold path and become the enlightened one like ananda and the rest. Four of them disciplines. Thats is the reason Buddhism was the sanest and most beautiful religion of them all around the world. Slowly it was disturbed by adding other sects into it after buddha died made it unpopular and led to the decline.

And ajivika philosophy was the only philosophy of pre Buddhist time. All the other 62 philosophy are actually variant of this one philosophy ajivika. They are same thing under different names and so those 6 preachers weren't heretics. Buddha and Mahavira were actually heretics.

बिल्कुल गलत पढ़ा रहे हो 23 साल पहले अशोक के शिलालेख जब 1915 में मिले इनके बारे में ब्राह्मणों को कुछ भी नहीं मालूम था , नाइन की धर्म ग्रंथों के बारे में मालूम था अकबर ने जब अशोक के शिलालेख ब्राह्मणों को पढ़ने के लिए दिए वह भी नहीं पढ़ पाए 😂

अशोक के शिलालेख धम्मा लिपि में लिखे गए यानी ब्राह्मी लिपि में लिखे गए थे षड्यंत्र करके ब्राम्ही नाम दिया गया जबकि हिंदू धर्म के सारे धर्म ग्रंथ देवनागरी में लिखे हैं जो धम्म लिपि का परिष्कृत रूप है हजार साल बाद का😂
