    Why do people always say Subarus are slow, my family have had 9 Subarus and they are definitely not slow. Not sure what kind of expectations y'all have, but I think it's perfect.

    • @mikemulhearn3220
      @mikemulhearn3220 Před 7 lety +5

      They have a NA 4cyl CVT, they're slow as molasses.

    • @RylieCollins
      @RylieCollins Před 7 lety +6

      it's because they're slow to accelerate but they exceed in other areas, they get great gas milage and they're amazing for cross country drives

    • @jacobbigler754
      @jacobbigler754 Před 7 lety +5

      They are way faster than a Honda HRV. Those things are pathetic. The Crosstrek is actually a lot of fun to drive. Plenty of power.

      @Brian-dd2df Před 7 lety +3

      Friedrich Siefferman I own a 2017 crosstrek. It's depressingly slow to accelerate on the freeway. This car gives you no confidence if you're trying to get around somebody, especially on the on ramp. Also the AC has a major effect on engine performance. It will hang out at 3200+ rpm even at low speeds. There's a weird lag too from a start when the AC is on. Keeping the accelerator at a constant position you get this strange lag up to 2200 rpm. Once you get past that the car perks up but it's a sudden.
      Starlink is also a shit show in the 1st generation. Why do I need an app for the car to access my phone?? I've driven enough rental cars to know that you don't need an app for that. The starlink app can have an error and you will lose all connectivity on the road. The USB part for the car is grossly underpowered and will barely charge your device. The cigarette lighter is strong but don't expect to gain more than 5% charge after 30 minutes of driving if you want to be connected to the car. It takes ~45 seconds for the car to realize that your phone is connected as well. So don't expect to plug your phone in and drive off if you want to access music.
      TL;dr I'm trading my 2017 in for a new one.

      I agree. I just drove my 2018 Impreza Sport to Florida and back home, no issues whatsoever with passing or having power. I guess people want a grocery carrier with drag race capabilities.

    Thank you for such a super comparison between the two. I am looking to purchase a new one after owning a Forester for 14 years. Looking for a slightly smaller one at this point. Test drove the 2017 model & it was terrific.

    Everything looks better on the -18 model, it's only one thing that can cause problems, it's the direct injection that can lead to carbon build up around the valves.

  • @cvassilakis
    @cvassilakis Před 6 lety +1

    Greatly presented!!
    Subaru Crosstrek (XV in Europe) is now available in Greece, but due to high taxation and an additional tax for engines larger than 2.0L , has a dissadvantage against other EU models with severe downsized engines.
    We would prefer the 1.6L Turbocharged engine, currently available on Levorg (I think not available in US)
    It was the best to see, among hundred others, last week in the CarExpoAthens Greece.

  • @odaily
    @odaily Před 7 lety +8

    Horsepower in Crosstrek 2018 is 152HP , competitors in the same segment have less. Mazda CX3 146HP , Honda HRV 141HP

    • @Xenophene01
      @Xenophene01 Před 7 lety +3

      Yea, but the old XV has a crap CVT that makes it slow to respond and the extra weight of AWD doesn't help. I hear this CVT is much better. Only a test drive will be able to tell us.

    I can only hope to get this vehicle with a black headliner (huge deal breaker), i currently own a 2014 Dessert khaki premium model. It is slow but its just fine for me on the highway and its great in the snow with a good set of snows. Lastly amazing on gas considering the amount of miles i put on it.

      @julaihaidris7212 Před 5 lety

      David Kang yea the 2017 Crosstrek looks way better than the new 2018 Crosstrek, what makes it look better than the new one??
      Tamer tail lights
      Sporty front
      Signal lights at headlights
      Tamer headlights??
      I even like the 2008-2014 STI rather than the new 2015-2019 STI, because...
      Friendly front
      Tamer headlights
      Simpler looking tail lights??
      Front design looks like a typical car (head & signal lights in one and fog lights at the lower)
      Side mirrors are wing attached (like most cars) not tower attached (like most SUVs??)
