    What's the difference the Crosstrek and the Impreza?
    Brendan walks us through the differences:
    -Ground Clearance
    -Different roof racks
    -Better approach angles on bumpers of the Crosstrek
    -Different interior accessories: interior trim, stitching, base model Crosstrek has two-tone "off-road" cloth interior, and accents, and technology options.
    -X-Mode on the Crosstrek is available now
    -Impreza gets 4 MPG better on the highway
    -Crosstrek is about $2,000 more than comparable Impreza
    So essentially: The Impreza is a more elegant and refined vehicle.
    The Crosstrek is set up for more rugged, off-road styling and driving.

    I purchased a 2018 Impreza Sport, LOVE it! The ride is excellent and quiet, the seats nice and supportive. The interior is very nice, nothing cheap looking here. The car has plenty of pickup. the infotainment system is fantastic! The backup camera is crystal clear and my Iphone connects with carplay and navigation comes through the stereo, crystal clear. Tried out the cheek heat and it rocks.

    Thank you so much for this video!!! I drive a Crosstrek that my agency issues me (and have put 37,000 miles in a year and a half on it)... I've been thinking about buying myself a new vehicle and I really couldn't figure out the difference between the Impreza hatchback and the Crosstrek other than the Impreza is a bit more realistic on my wallet. I absolutely love my agency issued Crosstrek and was afraid I would be disappointed with the Impreza... after seeing this though, I feel better about going with the Impreza because it is very much the same in many ways.

      The Impreza is everything and more than the crosstrek. The Impreza rides much better on Han the crosstrek. The advantage that the crosstrek has, is it has 8.7 inches if ground clearance. That’s why it rides so rough. But if you are planning off road, by all means, get the crosstrek. Before you make the purchase, make sure that you also look at the forester. The forester is a much better choice, because you get more vehicle for the dollar. The best deal, is the Impreza premium. Not knocking the crosstrek. I just think that it is over priced for what you get. One thing that I do like about the crosstrek, is it is available with the 2.5 engine. But if you opted for that, you are much better off with the forester.

    Safety and rear visibility are my concerns as a new driver. Are there any differences in safety features and rear visibility between these two cars? I feel that the crosstrek would offer better visibility due to the higher ground clearance, but I'm concerned about its increased risk of roll-over accidents. Also, which car has higher crash energy absorption?

    We purchased a base trim 2018 Impreza. The crosstrek is way over priced. We purchased a 2020 Premium trim forester. The Forester was basically the same price as the crosstrek.

      5.1" That's actually "OK" I guess. My 2003 Mazda Protege 5 (hatchback) has 5.5"!!! I test drove on 1/19/2019 a 2019 Impreza (manual) and loved it, but I'm concerned with spending more money on tires since many (mechanics and regular people) say you need to buy all-4 tires if you get a flat since over time having tires w/different thread will damage an AWD system. Tires for the Impreza fluctuate between $66-$70(cheapest ones!) depending if you get an Impreza with a 205/55R16 or a 205/50R17.

But for my needs up in Maine, I decided the increased ground clearance and the X mode were a good choice.

    Nice Video!!.... I have a quick question for all the Subaru fans/owners....i am planning to spend ~25,000 USD to buy a subaru for..(1) long highway hours...lets say 10.. almost every weekend..work related (2) sometimes farm visits..so ground clearance might be good. We have another vehicle (kia Sorento, V6 AWD) that me and my wife use when we are travelling with our 11 m old daughter...... My heart says 2018 Orange Crosstrek....but suggestions are welcome :) Thanks.

    • @dkphantomdk
      @dkphantomdk Před 6 lety +3

      if you are going highway for 10 hours, and maybe just the last 10-15min out to the farm, Iam not sure you NEED the lifted crosstrek.
      if its just ordinary dirt roads you will be fine in any kind of car.
      add a bit of snow and the subaru will be great
      add more snow, then you need the lift, but Iam not sure that you will visit farms in terrible weather conditions.
      from a "non heart" view - get the car that cruises the best on the highway with ease, maybe a legacy.
      But what is the deal with a Kia Sorento V6.. WHY, you are just 3 people, WHY do you NEED that big a car??
      I have had a subaru impreza 2007 for years now, and we have been five people driving at holidays alot.
      I wouldnt like a huge car like that, would be annoying about its size, running costs or more.
      MY brother just bought a used Subaru Outback, its a "lifted limosine", drives smooths and are VERY capable offroad, not that you would ever need it, also is has plenty of room for you very small family..
      And i performs fine in snow ( he lives on Iceland )
      Just my opinion, dont need a huge car, get the one that does highway the best, because that is where you speed most of your time.

      @dkphantomdk Před 6 lety

      good luck with the test, make sure that the test drive can last some hours to make sure that you are comfortable in the seats and driving position when cruising.
      Remember to look passed the gadgets and shiny stuff, and fell the car and the quality of the build.
      - but may I ask, is the Kia really needed, could be swapped with a legacy wagon, then you just have one car.
      or the Outback if you need the lift :)
      Its cheaper to have one car than two, but if money arnt and issue, it doesnt matter :D
