- There were many who were expecting we would get an announcement for a new narrative expansion for God of War Ragnarok at The Game Awards, and though we didn’t get that, Sony Santa Monica did end up revealing upcoming content for the action-adventure title nonetheless.
The game is adding a roguelite mode with the upcoming Valhalla DLC, which launches for free for all owners next week, and plenty of details have been revealed about it, from its permanent and temporary progression details to its central narrative premise and more.
So, as we approach its surprisingly close release, here, we are going to take a look at a few key details that you should know about God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla. - Hry

I am so excited for Greek connections in this dlc mostly because this may open the door for Athena to return.

No it's not why do you children keep saying this. We were supposed to get a trilogy and it got slashed and condensed into just 2 games, and the story and combat of Ragnarok reflect this greatly. Then a year later, for content that most likely should have been part of the product a year ago at launch, is now getting dished out to fans. And it being under the guise of being "free" is supposed to be this gigantic W?

I think it's confirmed and kratos has unfinished business in his homeland but that will end Kratos story.

I love how popular the rouge lite/like genre has gotten. It’s something that will never get old because it has so much replay value. I’m am so hyped for this dlc!

@@andre6235h oh man so many! Risk of rain 2, Hades, Dead Cells, Cult of the Lamb, Sifu, Spelunky, Skul, Slay the Spire, and a hell of a lot more. Indie games have really made the genre extremely popular, the last of us 2 is also getting a rouge lite mode. If you haven’t heard of these I highly recommend checking some of these out

As much as I'd love a story expansion at least it's free and it's a few days away. It gives reason to play more and have some fun.
Maybe there is story cause devs recommended to play it after the main game. Also there are still bosses and armor.

@@rcbloomoriginal gow trilogy, burnout 3 and for some reason rampage total destruction are my top remake wishes. though rampage is 100% just nostalgia and it probably wouldn’t turn out to be what i remember.

@@rcbloomI was fiending for Ragnarok ever since 2018 (as a die hard fan originally played the first game at 10 years old). Contemplated getting a PS5 just for Ragnarok as I had got a PS4 *just* for GOW 2018. With all that said..... I played 9 playthroughs of RE4 and couldn't even bring myself to play Ragnarok on NG+ one time...
Need to get back into it to get the platinum so will probably play this for a bit as well

they probably already had this planned to be released with the original release but might not have had the time to finish it so now its ready this is how the swords men' fights should have been but each character should have had more detail main reason this is seen is because of Eldin rings variety

i’m glad this is coming to give me a reason to install and play ragnarok again. replaying story games isn’t my thing and ragnarok is one of my favourite games of all time, so seeing new content to enjoy within it is beautiful. something to hold me over and give me some of the combat i loved while i wait to see where the next game/s take us.

I hope there's a super difficult greek valkyrie megaboss at the end.
For me, surtr's scorched set or berserker set, i never use anything else, i crushed gmgow with both sets, tried with other builds and still succeeded but i really loved those two sets
Now it makes sense why it's a free dlc.
i would love to see new skills and moves.

Although it’s not a full story narrative. This could be could. SSM could be using this to test new combat mechanics for an upcoming DLC.

you could hear variants of some of the soundtracks from the original god of war trilogy so yes we'll definitely some some greek stuff, probably some enemies
This may be similar to the Returnal DLC. Arena mode.. but there were prompts/interactions that triggered a few cutscenes.

Mostly excited for the greek era connections. I felt like that was a missed opportunity for Ragnarok and character development. I'm really glad we finally see some more connections to that period

I actually never played the original games but I fell in love with Kratos in the Norse games. I do know the basic storyline of what happened but I'm looking forward to this DLC. I actually platinumed Ragnarok just a month ago.

Yeah everyone talking about that they wanted to see old enemies like magni and modi thor or even ares or zeus, but tbh i want to see Vili and Ve, the brothers of Odin in norse mythology because they do exist in god of war universe but we never could actually see or at least know what happened to them i hope In DLC we will at least know what happened to them.

Cyclops enemies were so iconic for GOW. To see them here is just great. I hope to see the gorgons and satyrs in this too.

that "throne thing" at the start of the video looks very simular to the throne where kratos sat on(in the end) of god of war 1 or god of war 2
and the greece soundtrack + the cyclops in the end(wat already was a surprice from greece) of the reveal trailer.

I’m all for this. I 100 percented the game and literally spent hours roaming through the map trying to find more enemies. I’m not going to put this down until GTA 6.

I’ll be honest, i gota relearn how to play this game, despite platinuming it😅 That Atreus part of the story really turned me away from replaying it. Maybe we get an additional surprise or two and we’ll be able to skip cutscene’s and replay story missions. I think that alone would boost the replay ability ten fold
Id think kratos will have more abilties and more powerful maybe even new weapons

As much as I hate rogue like gaming and it will keep me from playing this DLC, I am still happy they did it this way.
I got my perfect Ragnarok experience where the dreaded Niflheim section was gone, and people who loved that section get a whole DLC for them.
Am I disappointed I can’t play it? Sure. Looking at the whole picture I think it’s absolutely a win win for all of us.

@@luismolina9557you're kinda right, athena placed a curse on kratos. she isn't physically putting them back herself, but she is the reason they return.

There will be some story. Still is an epilogue. But for a free dlc this is extremely awesome. And we haven't even seen anything. Could be that there's a lot of story in it but i wouldn't count on reeeally big things
It is a story and it's an epilogue to Ragnarok and Kratos has to go back to Greece.

Santa Monica has another hit on their hands with GOWR tbh BUT…..😂 there’s one thing about this entire experience I didn’t like that sticks out, I finished the game and 100% everything about 2 months after buying it, the amount of fights you encounter that are really designed to be hard only because your enemy can spam unblockable moves or simply step through extremely slow animation “special moves” to damage you severely while you’re literally stuck in animation and can’t even react if you wanted to. That’s about it though💯

Finished the first game. Ended up in middle of ragnarok as found it too boring sadly :( so the amount of combos you need to remember just removes fun and immersion imo. Probably will give it a shot but once I don't have games to try and finish it.
Not to be mean, but that’s a certified smooth brain take. Too boring ? Son it’s a story driven hack and slash. If you found the combat boring (idk how) you at least have the story to get invested in.

For those who are saying "it's just a combat arena" let me remind you, it's just like ragnarok but instead of combat replace it with roguelike. A good mix between that and story and i'm pretty sure we'll visit greece aswell there's so many hints about it. Let them cook yall

This combat system in a roguelike setting is like peanut butter & chocolate. Not difficult to add story cutscenes in between levels.

i was very hyped for this until it was revealed that it was a rogue-lite release. im not really a fan of that genre. dont get me wrong. im glad its free, but personally i'd rather have paid for a traditional GOW style expansion than got a rogue-lite release like this for free. just my personal opinion.
