    I am using the G4 Pro's in high traffic areas along with a G5 Bullet in my garage. For the money the G5 is a pretty good camera.

    I thought the g5 was aluminum based on their site description 😅
    I have really rough weather were I am at, plastic become really brittle real quick. Kinda need it for night and day-time. the night time looks really good, and affordable obviously 🤣

      @@sawsaw2388 unfortunately plastic. I would not leave these anywhere with strong sun. Will probably overheat and will probably degrade the plastic

    4:10 I haven't seen any info on actual sensor size for either camera so it very well *could* be bigger... but with all the mentions of fuzzy/less sharp images (especially at night) that I have seen around the internet, I would guess that either a) the sensor is actually larger, but still denser than the G4 or b) it is the same size just a more dense sensor. In either case pixel density usually has a negative effect on performance since each pixel on the sensor is gathering less light.

      Whats weird from my testing is that the nighttime pics on the G5 are far better. But I'm going to do a follow up after multiple people have mentioned bad night images.

    Nice review, I had the G5 for a few days, everything worked well, especially the high brightness compared to the G4 bullet, I was really impressed. However, that was until I tried the person detection at night. I had trouble recognizing myself in the video, which was a huge disappointment for me. There was a lot of ghosting and the image was not sharp. Could you try walking by a few times during the day? The image itself is beautiful, but with movement at night, I was not satisfied and returned the camera. Thanks

    My g4 pro has stopped being detected online. Only the backlight diodes are lit. It does not respond to the reset button. Tell me what can be done?

    I wonder if the metal housing keeps it cooler vs. the plastic housing. That matters over time.

    • @JenxTech
      @JenxTech  Před rokem +1

      Yeah, something I missed, the operating temp is smaller on the plastic ones, while I found the image quality better, seems they reduced the specs for other things, there max temp is lower two, which is bad for us as means can't put them in direct sun here in CO they will probably overheat.
      How ever the plastic will be better if your near the sea, that salt air will eventually rust everything!

    Doesn't the G4 has audio? And no for the G5?

    • @JenxTech
      @JenxTech  Před 2 měsíci

      They both have audio as in have mics on the camera. Neither have speakers to do talk back.

    Is the field of view different? Looks like the G5 had a zoom?

    • @JenxTech
      @JenxTech  Před rokem

      It's slightly wider from what I can tell, don't think the zoom was any different (although as it's a higher res sensor digital zoom, should, be clearer)

    Why is the G5 cheaper then?

    • @JenxTech
      @JenxTech  Před rokem +1

      Thats a good question. Probably a couple of things:
      1. Plastic construction (steal/metal prices and fabrication have sky rocketed, plastic is still cheap)
      2. Probably tweaked internals, it's a 100mb LAN over the 1GB on the G4. I'm guessing they probably put in "Just enough" electronics vs off shelf parts on previous models.
      3. Post pandemic production, might have tweaked factory/parts sourcing.
      If someone has dead ones, would love to open them up!

      @@FastRedPonyCar @JenxTech Yesterday I installed the G4 Pro and except for some lens fogging that occurred after 2 hours and fortunately disappeared on its own after another 4 hours (apparently this is normal), I am completely satisfied. I had the opportunity to try out the G5 bullet as well, and in addition to that, I have the G4 bullet with the original IR extender, and several G3 Flex cameras, but The G4 Pro is simply on a different level in terms of image quality during the day and especially at night. I regret not buying it earlier 😊
      I also considered getting the AI bullet, but ultimately decided to go with the G4 Pro. I know I don't want the G5 bullet anymore, and I was considering getting the G5 Pro in early access, but I am now a bit hesitant and will wait until some reviews become available. The same goes for the G5 Flex.

    Did you already have ethernet run to the outside of your house or did you do that post build?

    • @JenxTech
      @JenxTech  Před rokem

      We spec'd the house with ethernet runs to external places on the property during construction, would be a nightmare now, after building I wish I added a couple more locations tho, pro tip, ALWAYS add more even if you don't plan on using them straight away.. you never know.
      Some of the things I've thought about is just using ethernet to power Z-Wave/ZigBee sensors etc, much easer than screwing around getting AC/DC power to a location.

    What if the price is same? Which to pick

    • @JenxTech
      @JenxTech  Před 11 měsíci

      Good question, in that case that would depend where you're installing them, by the sea where you are going to get allot of wet weather the G5 probably makes sense as it's a plastic housing and should hold up longer. The G4 will be better with extreme temps and direct sunlight as it has higher operating temp ranges.
      But as you can see the picture is very similar.
