    The biggest isue with putting adders on a stock LS bottom end is the pistons. The ring lands are to narrow, which allows "burn through," and, the hypertutatic material shatters like a ww2 pineapple granade, destroying the engine. It would be good to know what a stock long-block, sans the stock pistons, would hold, reliably.

      you need more than lift-properly ported stock heads can make lots of power (see big cath head test vid), and you need a good intake

    I just found your channel recently while looking for information for my 5.7 ls1 build and I’m liking the content! But there’s not a lot, if any torque builds only horse power builds... I’m swapping the engine into a 3t/6600lbs four wheeled drive wagon and I’ll be hopping to do the right mods to gain fuel economy and power. I’ve had great success with just bolt ons like headers, 100cpi cats, sports mufflers, otr and a fast lsxr manifold with the 92mm tb that made 315hp at the wheels in the donor car which weighs 1000kg/2200lbs less.
    My question to you would be, what cam would you use for my goal with a stock bottom end? And with match ported heads to the headers and lsxr with the 102mm tb what figures would you expect with your experience??

    Richard you should try making 700hp on an LSA SC on 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0 and 6.2.

    Hey Richard love the videos. Newbie question here. Just got a junkyard 5.3. And would love to build that stroker LOL. So on that 5.3 383 stroker. With the 4 inch crank and 3.905 Bore. What length rod are you guys running and what is the compression height on the piston you are running? Thanks for your help in advance

  • @curlynigero6417
    @curlynigero6417 Před 4 lety +1

    I think I'd rather go with an high compression iron ls1 instead of a 383 strokerif it's only a around 20hp difference and have more reliability and longer life of the motor

    I’m new but man do I love this channel. Hoping you can help. I have a 03 Monte Carlo with a 5.3 LS small block in it from a 07 SS. What would you suggest to make about 550-650hp?

    I want to stroke my LS1 to 383 run low compression and a supercharger. The goal would be 600 hspr on 92 octane. Any tips?

    • @richardholdener1727
      @richardholdener1727  Před měsícem

      you can easily make 600 hp with a cam, springs and the stock displacement LS1-or you can add the 4.0-inch stroke crank (you can't bore the LS1 block)

    I love the video's thanks for the info. I have a 1980 Camaro that I put a 454bb with stock bottom, medium Cam, Header, 750 Edelbroc carb, 4speed Muncie. But I also a complete LS3 sitting on the stand. would you swap and what all would you do in either case?

    • @trashbandit2449
      @trashbandit2449 Před 3 lety

      Depends. If you want it to handle well, the ls3 is way lighter. The 454 will probably make plenty of straight line power though
