Was feeling bad for wizard with Tyler's McLaren purchase...
However hoovies new 10 cylinder BMW M5 will indeed send wizards children through college...
MrMaxyield why ? He is making money
Why would you feel bad? He obviously likes working with cars and taxes accordingly.
@Brad Kells: He purchased the McLaren with dealer warranty. I'm guessing that entails having all work done at the dealer and not in a third party shop like the Wizard's. So unless the Wizard is an authorized McLaren mechanic and can service the car under warranty (or Hoovie is planning some mods that would not be done under warranty anyway), he is probably not going to make much money on the McLaren. But I can't feel too bad for the Wizard, with all the other Hoopties that Hoovie has, he should be keeping busy enough XD
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Is there an afterlife?
Wow the guy needs to stop washing his car with sand paper.
I was about to inquire whether this car had been in an actual sandstorm.
Seriously, repeatedly running a car through a low rent gas station carwash, doesn't even nearly do that much damage to the paint. WTF happened to this car?
My thoughts exactly. I would love to do some major paint correction on that thing.
While this looks horrendous, the fact that it’s black combined with the Florescent lights is making it seem worse than it is. Still could use a pain correction
@@PabloDiablo682 LOL!
@@PabloDiablo682 It's winter, good one you can see the paint condition that's not just dirt/dust. Yeah popular winter car is a Porsche rwd with big wide tires. No that's a black or dark car with an owner that just gave up trying to keep it looking good.
this is why I watch, like and subscribe. The guy teaches you without holding anything back. He deserves every good thing he has coming to him. Good job!
scotty kilmer is like a whole different person when he forgets to take his cocaine
Kalasha001 u had me rolling. Lol
LMAOO
Lol. I would love to hear Wizard’s take on Scotty Kilmer...
@@mexifinn7830 Wizard works on all the cars that Scotty HATES. You know, the "endless money pits." Which I guess they are indeed going by Hoovies experience. Haha.
Bwahahaha
This is like watching cable access back in the day. I love your videos!
1:18 LOL that made me laugh so much. You hit it hard, all that rust falling down..... lol.
So glad you finally started this channel
Love these common problem vids! I’ll probably never own 2/3 of the cars you’ll cover, but it’s fascinating.
Hey wizard! I’ve watched you for awhile on Tyler’s channel and love your work! I’m a high schooler that worlds on the water cooled Porsche’s. I have 2 944’s and 1 924s and am acquiring more. I was hoping to see some videos on the 944 and 944 turbo on your channel I see them in the background of many videos. I love the work that you do and I’m trying to start my own CZcams to help others with their 944 and 924. Thank you for the great videos!
Congrats car wizard! You're about to get a nice amount of work, and a fat paycheck from Hoovie with his new m5
Guess he didn't listen to Doug I guess
Almost makes me wonder how many of the cars currently in the shop belong to Hoovie. lol
GMC Sierra C3 he knew what he was going into. At least if he tracks the m5 it’s gonna grenade like the Porsche. And that cost him way more money then this m5.
I wonder if the wizard has already picked the color for his new Lambo after fixing that M5...
LOL
The soft top needs a new polyester strings so that the soft top lines seat properly inside upper door grooves. That's an easy fix and would make a great video.
Another great video... excellent tips and tricks, and a bit of humor, too! Thanks, Wizard!
I don’t think I’ll ever have this car but I saw the whole thing. I appreciate guys like you helping handy views like me fix simple issues
like watching automotive version on bob ross
Really good video format, more of these please :)
That 928 is gorgeous
If its good enough for scarface its good enough for anyone...that colour really suits it.

Wiz, I love the way you go really fast through the boring parts. I wish I could do that when I am working on one of my vehicles.
Great video mr wizard....as always very informative....as well as a humorous twist....a+ all around
Great video Wizard! on the allen screws that hold the door sill trim with the levers, you don't need to undo them all the way, just enough for the u shaped plastic to slide out. The 1st time I took mine off, I undid it all the way and fell inside the hole. Spent 1 hour fishing them out. LOL. Aside from the usual car nuances, they are great little cars to work on.
Good teaching/instruction ! ...I have an old 1990 944 S2 hidden away in the Spanish hills :)
keep Posting Wizard, Great Content. Love the Porsche Fixes.
Glad I found this so I know what to look for. Thank you sir
Awesome video thank you Wizard!👍🏻
Keep the videos coming!!!!
I am getting one of those pen lights! Thanks wizard! just catching up on your older videos! I’m a newbie
I like the 944 turbo you were workin on in the beginning. 🤩
Awesome work Wizard!!!
LOL, this video helped me with my car and I don't even own a Porsche! But those problems could be pretty common in many other vehicles - in my case it was white/gray smoke in the morning (bad crankcase ventilation valve) and the smell of burnt oil (it's a turbo, so there's a one-way valve for the crankcase vent, and when it goes bad the turbo blows the oil through the valve cover seals and straight onto exhaust manifold).
And it was just two years after major engine overhaul, so you've saved me from going through all of this again. :D
The thing that amazes me about these videos is how much "secret" knowledge he has about all the ways that this specific repair can go wrong. So many years and so many repairs - how do they not all run together in his memory?
I like the fact he's considerate enough to use lube,,,a lot of guys just ram it in.
Hahahahah
Love your educational videos
Love the content car wizard. Can you do us a weekly tour of the cars you’re working on?
Awesome, I have the same issue to repair on my 1999 boxster. This is the first video that I have seen that shows this repair.
I love these old style videos.
I love the shady salesman skits! Keep it up wizard!!!
Wiz - you are the best! Love the info and vids. Can't wait for my 1998 Box to have the issues you showed. Have not had these yet but you are right, you could do a 4 hour video on the issues these things have (horn frame failure, turn signal, braking, ignition switch failure, window won't drop when you open or close the door, plastic thingys breaking on convertible top, radio draining the battery) However I still love my little paycheck eater!
"paycheck eater" 😂 i am original owner of 2001 box and fully understand. But it is a joy to ride and will never sell it
Very clever tying the old and the new cable together!
Love the skits!
Can we get you a headlamp? You're destroying your teeth.
Herbie Husker He put tape on the end don't worry...
Pussy
Herbie Husker Yeah. I wish he would stop doing that. Makes me think of chewing aluminum foil.
They may not be his own so he doesn't care. If they are his own then he should.
Herbie Husker i think destroying his teeth would be a reach lol
Enjoyed that. I have a 997 with the startup smoke problem. The 997 ccv is on the top of the engine, can that be replaced without removing the intake?
Thanks for the video!
Great video I've been looking at buying a boxster. Is the ims bearing a big problem or is it blew out of proportion .
Always look forward to a Wizard video ... a great counterbalance to Hoovie's insanity ... A++
Great video. thanks... I was right with you when you said to use the old cable to run the new through. I'm going tomorrow, to look at and test drive a 2004 Boxster S manual trans... :)
Was that car washed with a grill brush?
It could just be 18 years old and driven
18 years of Sun, road, and automatic washers. Going to stand out more on high gloss black than other colors.
@@soundman447 It looks like a lot of those spider web scratches are from improper washing or automatic car washes
My black explorer didn't have those spiderweb scratches until I de-moted it to a winter beater and started not caring about how careful I am when I wash it. Now it has them like this car but not nearly as bad
18 years of driving, plus fluorescent lights show EVERY hairline that you may not even think its there
paint is shot respray time
You are a better mechanic than an actor! I still enjoy your videos.
Nice video pal. Glad the wizard noise thing went
I want a boxster around that age. Thanks for doing the video. I will have some idea what I am getting myself into.
I adore that salesman :D
great vid, looking to buy one of these
These videos are so good
Happy to see you work on many Porsche cars, maybe do a top 5 with the 944?
Hay wizard.. a big fan.. quick question. I can see a super amount of antifreeze coming out the manifold and the oil and water are mixing. Do you recommend either getting it fixed or just swapping it out for an engine?
Halo Car Wizard,
Quick question, I'm looking into an S6 like yours and wanted your opinions on reliability, mpg and cost of ownership since it is an older car.
This is THE BEST Bad acting I’ve ever seen this year!
We find that the 3 gold colored Allen bolts only need to be loosened 4-6 turns to remove the lever module beside the seat. That saves having to rethread the bolts on when reinstalling. We appreciate the quick tips - helpful & timely.
Hey there wizard. Love your channel:) I have this issue with my c6 z06 where I’m getting a “check gas cap” warning. I’ve already changed the gas cap, did a smoke test, and changed the charcoal canister; however, the message and check engine light still persists. Any idea what could be causing this?
Great tips!!
Great video Wizard
How about a video on the Porsche 928? The manuals are still one of the best bang-for-buck buys around
I had a manual 928S, of similar vintage to the one in this video. I hated it because it's a dogleg transmission. Could never get used to it. My next one will be an automatic, if I ever get another.
Br from Frankfurt / Germany . I like your vids. The size of your shop floor is amazing. Markus
Love this video but I would like your advice on one thing Wizard. I just bought a 98 boxster and was wondering should I really replace the ims bearing or has that problem been blown out of proportion. Ps this video was a great help when looking for one.
Thanks for the video. Interesting.
I like how he checks for damage after banging his head against the hood on the 928...LOL
What kind of scrubbing sponge material exactly did you use on the vent hole please? Brand?
THX Wiiiizard!
Watched a bunch of Wizard videos, never seen a water cooled Porsche and here are 3!
Yeow! What are the style, size, and year model of the Fuchs wheels on the black Boxster? Thanks for helping me work on mine and keep maintenance cheaper
Love those wheels !! Thank's
3:30 My 1996 Ford Contour SE V6 had a similar issue. We called it 'Moosing'. I fixed it by changing the diameter of a rubber UIM hose. The OEM hose's diameter made it act like a trombone and 'resonated'.
That car BTW, lasted 167,000 miles then the 2-4 band of that CD4 transmission went. It didn't make $ense to fix it, so we donated the car to the local fire department.
Hey Wizard I had a 1999 911 and it had almost all those issues you covered (except for the coolant leak). I fixed all those issues myself. the motor never failed me however, it seemed to be very reliable. However, I was scared of IMS bearing failure. Have you ever had experience with that?
What about the TV show you filmed together with Hoovie, has it aired already?
Nice. My 3 favorite cars in one shot. I'll always favor the 944 though.
I've done all those on my Box, nice trick with the cables though that's a good tip.
The Boxter howl--a factory installed elk whistle--to chase them away from you at 100+ mph
How do you close the convertible top manually ? Any tricks ? Thank you.
brilliant designing at work
I have had mine now for 21 years. The coolant reservoir is absolutely a thing. Same with Air/oil separator. But equally important is the water pump. On also needs to clean the radiators and a/c condensers. Easy, but time consuming.
Good job sir. You know your stuff. Do it right the 1st time to avoid further problems later. Peace!
I got a 1969 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow not too long ago that needs to be restored. I thought since you have one that looks very similar next to the viper you could tell me, how do you open the hood? I tried but I couldn’t figure it out.
THis might be the best modern representation of vintage funny shows. I love ever single video you put. really amazing.
Do a video talking about the timing belt/balance belt job on the 944.
Don't forget the convertible top lower rods the plastic ends break off. In your video that black boxster has the isseu where you can tighten up the top liner tension strap to make the top stay inside the brace when you put it up. Last but not least the IMS bearing that needs to be replaced I can't count how many I've done and engines I've replaced bc they fail. CV boots also almost forgot those they are very common also. Not bad cars tho. I always replaced the tubes and seals when I did spark plugs its worth the time. Cracked coil packs are getting common now also.
It's called an AOS ( air oil separator). The ims bearing are maintenance part and failure can cost a new engine. Rear main seal, cracked coils, and a bad oil pressure sensor are common problems on Boxters and 996s-997s
yup, my crankcase vent valve went bad on my old 2002 porsche boxster
TBH, I couldn't keep my eyes off that funky looking 928 in the background. Already noticed it in Hoovie's M5 video.
"this one is in pretty good shape" ... I assume we're just ignore the paint that appears 200 yrs old?
Was the first thing I noticed! It's really bad, it's steel wool bad.
Paint is crap, lights are terrible and don't fit properly. And the rag top looks done for. Not a well loved example in my opinion.
🤦🏻♂️ paint is the least of my worries when it comes to a Porsche.
@@JT-pt5tl actually these appear to have a soft clear coat and base color. My 00 Boxster paint looks like it had rock chips everywhere! And I take special notice when looking at Boxster 986 videos and ads for sale and I commonly find the same "rock chip" damage, especially visible in black like mine.
Pretty good to the Wizard is likely referring mechanically to the car lol
Hi thank you, how good are the older Porsche Cayenne 3.6L 6V model years 2013. Will this be a good buy?
Thanks was looking to get into this car
Solid content
Hey, it's good to see that the lead singer/harmonica player from Blues Traveler is still making a good living.
Crazy D needs his own channel where he shares his insights by providing his funny answers to subscribers' questions about dieting, relationships, personal finance, tax preparation, child care, career moves and, of course, the used car business.
very helpful....thanks...
you do a really convincing surprise reaction
Lucky for me I never had to replace a trunk release cable (yet). Thanks for showing me how. In the future you could edit in some closeups of small peices so we can get a better view.
Is that the singer from Blues Traveler?
Mans makes the Wizard look skinny lmao
Wizard, you should make repair videos for each of the issues you're going to fix on Hoovie's E60 M5. Would love to see them!
Thanks!
I wonder what's the wizard's opinion on the IMS bearing. I really want to get one of those cars, but my min concern is the IMS
LOL @ DeLorean conversation. I've owned one for almost 12 years, and it is actually fun to drive now that I've LS swapped it.
What did you use for the transmission on the LS swap I saw one that someone did with the stock transmission but the owner said the tranny would blow up if you stepped on it in 5th gear.
@@mattm9619 Stock transmission, with a few improved internals. Yes, you do have to be careful with 5th gear.
Hoovie should drop the Beamer's V10 into his Delorean
Nice video! I want a video about that new M5 of Hoovie's
