Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson are household names. However, there was a player who was both a good NFL safety and 15-year MLB veteran during the same time that gets concerningly little love...

As a St. Louis kid in the 90s dude is still a legend. He recently spoke at my daughter's school and signed a card for me I MEAN FOR HER.
😂😂
Dude has always seemed like a stand up guy, total top rate
He signed a card for me through the mail when I was a kid. I remember him well as a Cardinals fan
I love that this video talked about not only Brian Jordan the athlete, but also Brian Jordan the person. I had never heard of him before but I am now a fan!
Jordan seems like such a good dude. I vaguely remember his baseball career
Brian Jordan is obvious if you are 40 years old or older
@Rock33b if you grew up watching the Braves TBS, you know who Brian Jordan is. I'm 37 and grew up on that franchise.
I was sure this was going to be a Charlie Ward video
He never played another professional sport other than basketball
Brian Jordan, popped in my head.
Yeaps
I remember in an interview at the time, Sports Illustrated if memory serves, when asked about his decision. Because he was one of the best Safetys at the time. He said baseball is easier, plus you can play longer for more money
A player named DJ Dozier had 25 games with the Mets in 1992 as well as 42 games for the Vikings and the Lions.
Danny Ainge played MLB and in the NBA.
That was my guess, looking at the title.
@@6thwilbury2331 I was going to go even deeper and say Mark Hendrickson. Pitched in 328 MLB games and also played 114 games in the NBA, and I would venture to guess far fewer people have heard of him than Brian Jordan, who was on some relatively high-profile Braves teams in the 90s and early 00s.
I forgot about Brian Jordan and I guessed Danny Ainge.
Yeah but Danny was decent but wasn’t great at MLB
Also Danny played like 4 years only
This cardinal fan LOVED watching him play for us; top 10 mvp votes in 96, 91 rbi in 1998, and cover athlete for triple play 97.
I didn't know he played football. I just knew him as a baseball player.
As a fellow Maryland native and Richmond alum, I can’t believe I wasn’t familiar w this guy’s story. Awesome video.
Leading the league in DWAR as a left fielder is insane. Also I never even knew he played in the NFL as an exclusive MLB fan
Jim thorpe was actually the first one to do it in the 20s
Great, great video. I really learned something here-I gotta be honest, Im 39 and should remember this guy but I didnt. Great video.
How many sports fans have seriously never heard of Brian Jordan? Dude was awesome.
I'll always remember Brian Jordan as the guy who hit a 3-run HR off Mets pitcher Eric Cammack in the top of the 8th to go up 8-1 before the Mets scored 10 runs in the bottom of the 8th. Cammack only played 8 games in the majors and hit a triple in his only at bat.
Yo funny NASCAR man narrating a video on another channel on a sport that isn't the one he normally does? That's insane!!!
For real though, great vid. Brian Jordan definitely deserves more love for what he did on the field in both football and baseball. What a man.
he's been our de facto football guy since before the start of last football season btw 👀
@@StarkRavingSports a good add to the crew!
@@jbj7599 Thank you!
Hey, my nephew went to Milford Mill Academy.
you guys ever see that clip of him doing tv and the security guard trips in the background?
Hearing Darian Gilliam speak about something other than NASCAR hurts my brain, but I’m all for it
it literally didnt even hit me that it was him until about halfway, then there was a mental block.
@@MercilessMe Same, I’m like: “This guy sounds ultra familiar…” The description confirmed my theory
Hi
I learned something today. I did not know Brian Jordan played in the NFL. And he was good. Then in the MLB, he was also good. And he seems like an amazing person just from this video and his charity work. You're totally right that he deserves credit for being a two-sport star. It's probably one of the hardest things to do. Who has done it since Sanders at the same time? The best we have in a two way player in Ohtani. Another impressive feat.
Brian Jordan was by far the best baseball player out of the three. In baseball, Deon shouldn't even be mentioned
I remember in an interview at the time, Sports Illustrated if memory serves, when asked about his decision. Because he was one of the best Safetys at the time. He said baseball is easier, plus you can play longer for more money
Bingo.
Spark plug Bob Holly was a professional wrestler and NASCAR driver.
😂 😂 😂
Brian Jordan is still very loved in Atlanta
As a huge baseball fan in the 1990’s and early 2000’s, I remember Jordan well. Never knew he played football let alone on the NFL. Amazing
Charlie Ward..... Heisman Trophy winner in College football and the 26th overall pick in the NBA draft with a modest 11 year career......also, even though he never played professionally, HOF baseball player Dave Winfield, was drafted by the MLB, NFL, NBA and ABA, four professional sports leagues in three different sports. That is just crazy
Am a fan of Dave, but he's no Jim Thorpe
Brian led the NFL in safeties in 1991.
Old school-Dave DeBuschere pitched for the White Sox then played many years for the Knicks.
I remember when he played for the Rangers he was injured the whole time.
Danny Ainge was my first guess
He definitely made the right decision by choosing the guaranteed & longevity of baseball.
The days of a 2 pro athlete, simultaneously, are over. Too much money is involved, even if AJ Brown said he wanted to play both (while still with the Titans). When AJ signed with the Eagles, it stated that he wasn’t allowed to play pro baseball but still takes some BP at the Phillies.
Great video. I'm a Brian Jordan fan for sure now
As a Cardinals fan I loved Brian Jordan as a kid. He was a great athlete and so fun to watch.
I knew this was going to be about Brian Jordan. That was my guy. BJ is still big in Atlanta. He wasn’t Bo or Prime, but really good at both sports.
Another two sport athlete was John Burkett. He was a lights out Major League Pitcher and a Professional bowler with 12 perfect games
He was one of my favorite baseball players growing up. First game u ever watched was Atlanta Braves vs KC Royals at Kaufman. Jordan had a great game for Atlanta and I was a fan
Danny Ainge was a multi-sport athlete that gets overlooked as well.
Instantly thought of Brian Jordan
As soon as I saw the title, I thought of Brian Jordan. When you have a defensive back who tackles like Sanders, you need a defensive back who tackles like Jordan.
Chuck Conners, The Rifleman.
Thought this would be about Charlie ward. I’m not super familiar with him this is a great video.
How do people not remember Brian Jordan. He was fairly successful in both sports. If you watched sports at that time, you knew Brian Jordan.
Facts
I remember Brian Jordan. Dude was a beast
The Macho Man Randy Savage, then known as Randy Poffo, played for the Cincinnati Reds
Brian Jordon was a great guy and excellent athlete. I remember going to Braves games when he played
There are three athletes who don't get enough credit:
1. Danny Ainge: Played for both the Celtics and the Toronto Blue Jays
2. Brian Jordan: The best baseball player of all the two sport athletes in history. Usually, guys that athletic only excel at football but struggle at the skills to play baseball. Jordan was the opposite, and in fairness, he didn't really play football and baseball at concomiten times.
3. Charlie Ward: Won the Heisman Trophy at Florida State and then immediately got drafted by and had a solid career as a New York Knick in basketball.
chuck conners...the rifleman played major league baseball for the cubs basketball for the celtics and drafted by the bears.
Brian Jordan! Called it!!
As a huge baseball and NASCAR fan, I love black flags matter doing these
Thank you!
Probably the greatest 2 sport star ever was Jim Thorpe. He could and did play in multiple sports and while that was going on
he went and won two gold medals.
Not only Brian Jordan, but also John Elway, Frank Thomas, Danny Ainge, Chuck Conners, and kinda Michael Jordan
I was watching the Bengals Raiders game when Bo hot hurt. As a kid the tackle didn't look bad. Crazy it basically ended his career.
I was sure it was gonna be Jake Plummer, pro football and handball legend.
DJ Dozier was another one.
Would've been nice to see him play for the falcons and Braves at the same time OR the Cardinals and Rams
As a Cardinal fan growing up in the 90s, Brian Jordan is the FIRST 2 sport star I think of. He was great at both sports and a great person!
I think it's a shame he didn't get to follow in the footsteps of Bo and Deion and juggle the two simultaneously. If he had to choose he certainly made the right choice. Also, his Braves teammate Tom Glavine was drafted by the LA Kings to play hockey but made a wise decision to play baseball instead. The only possible regret might have been to see if he could have excelled playing alongside the Great One, Wayne Gretzky, with the Kings assuming hockey with the franchise would have panned out.
Wonder if anyone's ever played Catcher in MLB / MiLB and Goalie in the NHL. Seems like a more transferrable skillet than CB and OF.
I guessed the video was about him, knew his story. Liked him in both sports.
1 minute ago 2 views bro fell off
(He’s the goat CZcamsr)
yup we’re cooked
What a cool guy! Thanks!
Thank you for this video. Jordan doesn’t get nearly the respect he deserves.
Don’t forget about Danny Ainge. He played MLB and NBA.
Brian Jordan is the most successful professional two-sport athlete ever.
Jim Thorpe
@@kenw2225 ....He never played against the best players in any of his sports.
Do a Mark Hendrickson video, he played in the MLB and NBA
I knew it was Brian Jordan as soon as said Braves teammate.
Before watching I thought the video would be about Danny Ainge. Completely forgot about Brian Jordan being a 2 sport athlete
I got to grow up as a kid and watch them all 3 do this and Brian has a podcast
I knew he played both but I only remember him playing baseball
Scott Case blew that mf UP at 4:45 😭😭
wonder why i've never heard of him? allstar and probowl, he wasnt a scrub.....interesting
Hey i just remembered Jim Thorpe
Happy Gilmore accomplished that feat no more than 3 decades ago.
Nice.
Tom Glavine.👌
Not mentioning he led the NFL in safeties is insane. He definitely should've made the pro bowl
I don't like never heard of. He played a long time for the braves and cardinals. He is still on TV in Atlanta.
This narrator did great. Imagine how good he'll be when he hits puberty.
He was good at both but Bo was a all star and pro bowler the same
Year
Baltimore Represent
A nice man from Baltimore, no way!
I knew it was gonna be Jordan. Ha. Stud.
Tom Glavine passed on pro hockey for pro baseball
Man you said I’ve never heard of him. You must be young as hell.
“Brian Jordan leaving the Falcons wasn’t the death of the 2 Legit to Quit Falcons. It was them making the stupid mistake of hiring the worst NFL player of all time - Bill Goldberg.” - Bret Hart probably if he watched this video
I always think of Brian Jordan
What do you know it's Brian Jordan lol
Brandon from Georgetown he played basketball 🏀 and became a NASCAR driver 😊
Zack Hample
Taking one and two guys at the same time doesn’t make you a “two sport star”
Is this the raw gator voice
Didn't know he played in the NFL
Danny ainge
And is it john lynch?
Baseball/basketball
Baseball/football
I thought this might be about him
It's Jim Thorpe always
Brian Jordan rules
David Wingate
Danny Ainge was a two sport underrated player before bo and deion
JIM THORPE GODDAMMIT
I was guessing D.J. Dozier. Womp. Womp. He played for the Mets and Vikings.
Definitely not Talked about enough
Oh did i mention Jim Thorpe
Sucks high schools coaches are pushing on one sport . Kids are forced to pick one sport .
Waterboyzshow404 is his podcast 😊
