  • Our viewer, Richard, sent us a variety of coconut biscuits and sweets to try. Most are from the UK including Bounty biscuits and Hob Nobs, but we also try the German candy Knoppers.

    AS I REMEMBER LESS THAN YOU TWO DO, I CAN'T REMEMBER IF YOU EVER HAD, THE DARK CHOCOLATE WAFERS AND CHOCOLATE MARSHMALLOWS TEACAKES FROM TUNNOCKS BECAUSE THERE ARE BETTER ( IN MY OPINION) THAN THE REGULAR CHOCOLATE ONES.

    • @FinnLovesFood
      @FinnLovesFood  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hi Michael, thanks for watching! We've tried both Tunnocks teacakes, Tina prefers the mik chocolate while Ross prefers the dark chocolate ones but we would never turn away either :) Love the Tunnocks products we've tried (Unless there's coconut for Tina) :)

    Coconut heaven here for Ross lol (poor Tina!) I have only tried the snowballs but the rest sound lovely too, i do like coconut flavoured things but i can't eat too much of it.
    I think Tina would not like a cake we have over here called London coconut cheesecake ( i have no idea why it is called that as there is no cheese in it lol) it has layers of flaky pastry (sometimes with a raspberry jam filling) covered in icing and coconut pieces, Ross may like it though. Hope you both have a good week!

      @FinnLovesFood  Před 3 měsíci +2

      Hi Keza So the coconut cheesecake isn't like a traditional cheesecake with cream cheese? I don't care for cheesecake so if it was traditional, it would be a double no for me! So many good desserts are ruined by coconut! 😁

    • @keza92
      @keza92 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@FinnLovesFood No there is no cream cheese in a London cheesecake, i read it may have got the name 'cheesecake' back in the day because the shredded coconut on top looked a bit like grated cheese lol 😆 I'm not a huge fan of real cheesecakes either i think it's the texture for me, although i do like the triple chocolate one every now then.

    • @FinnLovesFood

      @@keza92 imagine mistaking coconut for cheese! 😀 Cheesecake is just a bit too rich for me.

      @keza92 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@FinnLovesFood I don't think they mistook it for cheese but it looked similar to grated cheese when the coconut was sprinkled on top. That was one theory of how it got its name lol.

      Hi Jeff, thank you for the kind compliment! That does seem to be a common reaction - some enjoy the flavour of coconut but are not wild about the texture. I haven’t eaten a bounty chocolate bar since the 1960’s. If I remember correctly, as part of the packaging they came on a handy long cardboard tray that came in very useful for writing shopping lists on.

  • @RonSeymour1
    @RonSeymour1 Před 3 měsíci +3

    The logs were white chocolate flavour and that suggests to me that a cocoa bean has been nowhere near them.

    • @FinnLovesFood
      @FinnLovesFood  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hi Ron, Happy Tuesday! I think you're right but I did check - some white chocolate comes from the same cocoa beans as regular chocolate but bypasses several of the production steps. White chocolate does not have cocoa or chocolate liquor. White chocolate, although similar in texture to that of milk and dark chocolate, does not contain any cocoa solids

    • @RonSeymour1
      @RonSeymour1 Před 3 měsíci

      @@FinnLovesFoodThank you, but I was referring to the word flavour. In my experience, and I am sure it is in law, if a chocolate bar states flavour then it is a cheap substitute and not chocolate at all. In the same way that an orange flavoured bar does not contain orange oils. White chocolate has a high percentage of cocoa butter and because it is a substantial part of the bean it is considered to be chocolate. You were very brave to try coconut products.

      @FinnLovesFood  Před 3 měsíci

    Surprised Tina u not liked Hobnobs coconut Macroon biscuits, yes there is in your inventory a packet of Mcvites coconut Hobnobs still try future video. Good job u were not blindfolded 😅 probably be funny pair of u oh this one coconut Ross lights up behind blindfold, Tina swaps it for liquorice 🤣 in it goes. Vice versa u both could have lot fun that way not knowing what u going eat on next.

      HI Richard, thanks again for the treats. So there are coconut macaroon Hob Nobs and just regular coconut Hob Nobs? I thought I had all the coconut items together, but one must have gotten separated. I can see Ross holding up the wrapper of the coconut logs and funneling it right into his mouth! 😃
      Oh I could see blindfold swapping turning ugly! We would have serious trust issues!
