Since there are a bunch of snarky comments about my very well trained working dog…Huckleberry is NOT chasing Gus when he is being lunged. He is simply following him. Gus is not bucking because he is afraid of anything he is in mental turmoil from prolonged physical pain. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk! 😉
Blame and accusations are signs of misunderstandings taken to the limit of an incomplete assessment. ☮
Huckleberry the DESTROYER . . . said nobody ever. . . . 🤭
I didn’t think he was. He’s been around horses for too long to do that. I’m sure he knows better.

👏WELL SAID CC
OMG, Lil'Gus's story is breaking my heart. He is one lucky little horse to have landed in your lap. You are truly a horsewhisperer of the highest order -- your compassion and innovation are boundless. I salute you CC. Thank you for sharing LG's history.
Yep, lucky Gus!
Great job. Great story. You are an amazing trainer👊❤️
Lady, you're an absolute miracle to all of these misunderstood beauties...
Your heart is so big and beautiful 😍 ❤🤩 ❤❤❤
They thank you, and we thank you... 😊
It's a small thing, but I like the way you say that you "ask" the horses for something instead of "telling" them.
Absolutely... Animals need to be allowed to decide how they follow our lead versus being forced to comply!!!
This is how I chose to train our spaniel... she's very easygoing and does not disappoint!
Animals unconditionally love us and want to please us...
Being patient with them while they learn is key to this type of training...
CC is spot on with her training...
❤❤❤❤❤
Your skill with horses and other animals is further enhanced by your ability to use time and patience as an ally.
As a 80 year old with autism I see your abilities as a clear mark of difference from most others in your field. It is a pleasure to witness your work.
beautifully said ❤
Thank you! ❤️
most impressive ❤️ keep it up cowgirls
And it always strikes me that I wish people would treat each other with the patience and care of good horse trainers.
I'm not a crier, but... Both Little Gus's story and your part in it brought tears to my eyes. I'm so glad that Little Gus is safe now.
The idea of what COULD have happened to Little Gus if he had gone through another auction dismayed me. So glad you had. 'Eyes to See' and saved him.
Sensitive horses in the hands of impatient/incompetent trainers really struggle to understand what is asked of them and end up labeled dangerous when actually they can be some of the most athletic responsive horses around.
Absolutely!
These stories make me sad. How people treat animals. Thank GOD for the good ones
I’m glad Lil Gus found this Cowgirl.
Amen my friend Amen
Thank you so very much for all the recent posts. May your grass grow tall & sweet but never hide gophers or badgers ! ❤️
Beautifully said 😊❤
@mousiebrown1747 - that is a lovely blessing ❤and CC and her herd certainly deserve it -- her horse's stories remind me of when I was young and reading Black Beauty made me cry buckets...
Nowadays, the only thing @TheCleverCowgirl does which makes me 😢 is premiere videos without warning 🤣
I kept checking the channel to see if there were any upcoming premieres -- is that notification a member feature?
Love this! ❤
@@pretzel2272😅
Gus is such a lucky boy to have such a patient and understanding owner!
Omg, girl, I had to stop the video because at the point where that beautiful creature started to lay his head down all at once I was sobbing big sobs. You are doing more than healing the horses you work with, which is monumental, but you are healing life everywhere with your big heart and bravery. Namaste'
I agree. CC is raising the vibrational energy of the world for the better!!! GOD BLISSINGS CC!!
Sounds like poor Gus had no one looking out for him until you came along 😂 Thank you for your kindness, knowledge and interest in fixing all the WRONG that these poor horses have been through. By the way it's because you love them that it's hard to move them along...I wouldn't be able to ❤
Oh wow!!!! It fills me with joy that you give unhappy horses a chance to shine. How many others don’t get that chance😘
I love the mental and physical glow ups on her horses. It's always cones down to impatient individuals who are in too big of a hurry to "finish" their horses. So many are discarded through no fault of their own. CC is a good role model.
Gus just showed the world that every animal needs understanding and patience to shine Bright. He met you at the right time. 😊🐕🐾💕🐾💕🐾💕🐾💕🐾😊🐾😊🐾😊😊💕🐾💕😊💕🐾💕😊
The work you do on your farm in Montana influences the work I do on my farm in Washington. I love that you use CZcams to help horses all over the world, through the example of your knowledge, your kindness, your understanding and your compassion for all equines. Thanks, Clever Cowgirl, you are my hero again today.
Awesome! Thank you!
He presented like a child with Attachment disorder and lots of trauma responses. Five homes and lots of abuse would certainly do that!! He is so lucky you found him and giving him all the care and strategies to recover. Your work with these traumatised horses is wonderful.❤
Yup, he is not the first horse I’ve seen like this either 😔
I was thinking the same thing about a trauma response. playing with the hay net struck me as being OCD. I have my bouts with it too.
Lil Gus is a lovely previously misunderstood pumpkin. I'm glad you have him now.
Lil Gus sounds like he's a smart boy, who's suffered from people who didn't understand what he needed. So pleased that you got him and gave him the love and treatment he needed. No wonder that you have trouble getting cross with him when he is cheeky and confident. He's made such improvement in your care.
autospell? 🙃 We know what you meant, it’s ok.
By and large the horses have positive personalities. They tend to not be fearful around CC
@@sanibel3 Thanks so much ! I have fixed the terrible autospell.
Yay…lil Gussy. This will be interesting. All your horses have such rich personalities. I love how you encourage them to live their best lives ❤
It's so interesting how the storm allowed Gus to finally see you and your good intentions.
All any animal needs is love and patience. You came and brought him a new lease in life. Bless you x
I like horses but know NOTHING about them. I have really enjoyed witnessing this lady's knowledge, expertise and WISDOM. Amazed at how she brings it all to life with narration.
Thank you Clever Cowgirl for the story of little Gus and your compassion and enduring patience with these abused horses. I'm sending little Gus lots of healing love vibes! May all your✨ dreams and wishes✨ be fulfilled a million fold❤️😊❤️✨
Thank God you found him, poor Gus. Your patience is beautiful to watch ❤
Poor Little Gus, the repetitive compulsory behaviour is so heartbreaking 😢
It is wonderful to see him now, being his healthy, mischievous and happy self 😍. I also adore that you learned how to treat him, you are amazing!
🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆❤❤❤❤❤
Little Gus is such a beautiful horse with such a funny, mischievous character. He's so fortunate he came to you. Your excellent, patient care is giving him back a future. 😊😊😊
Aside from your kindness, deep understanding, and knowledge of horses, you have something so many people don't, and that's patience. Too many people are quick to dump an animal if it doesn't instantly become exactly what they want. This horse probably had no reason to trust humans, and you taught him he could. Little Gus certainly came to the right place! P.S. The mule is super cute!
Way to go girl, you have invested a lot of time to figure out what makes little Gus tick.
Gus is a good horse. It just took a clever cowgirl to figure him out. Also, that was a beautiful shot with the rainbow.
I am never disappointed with your point of view and perspective. I love how you've really taken this guy into your hands with such love and patience.
This horse was betrayed at every turn.
You are truly blessed with a gift for understanding a horses behavior!! I’m 75 and still miss so much the adventures I had with my thoroughbred horse, Royal. He was always so kind and gentle. I really admire your dedication to these horses.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💖
Oh, poor Gus! But it sounds as if before the storm he experienced PTSD, but during the storm he "snapped out" of it and was able to behave calmly after! Horses are such wonderful beings!
Lil Gus the aspiring rodeo star (and previously damaged goods) is now a criminal. He and ringleader Stewie are the Breakout Boys! That conversation, the two of them had outside the fence is absolutely hilarious. 😂
That lil mule is a doll.
I just love what you do. Take your time you care about the animals. You treat them with respect. Your family should be so proud of you
Lil Gus’s story is heartbreaking - sensitive young horses like him need a compassionate trainer who can pick up on the subtle cues that are the key to understanding the horse’s behavior. Your horses are lucky because you aren’t trying to turn a quick profit on selling them.
What an absolutely beautiful story. A story of Hope and simply not giving up on an animal. It brings me to tears. God bless you and what you’re doing.
I look forward to these videos about each horse. Like people, they have their own unique personalities, quieks, and traumas. It takes a special person to bring healing and wholeness to them. Thank you for sharing and teaching your audience. I really appreciate you and what you do.
Little Gus Is A WILD ONE!! His Transformation Was Nothing But A MIRACLE!! The Way That You Take These Auction Horse's And Make Them Your Own Is VERY CLEVER!! Good Job!!😊❤
You are his savior. So wonderful to your story and love you have for these animals. ❤
So nice to get Little Gus' background. And so cute to see again the fence shenanigan's. Twas so funny when you gave them text bubbles. Seeing them again at that fence being naughty brought the giggles back. Thank you for being so patient with him and finding out what the underlying issues were and then giving him proper training to get him past his past trauma so he can enjoy working with you. Quite glad the tying in the barn gave him some quite time to reflect and realize 1) he's not in pain because the saddle was back and 2) this isn't the same at all. so he could calm down and work his way past the past trauma and use his smarts again. Yay.
I loved the part after the storm where I saw him relax with the lick and chew!! That shows how much he had calmed down with you!!
Unconditional Love is your motivation. My heart aches for how these beautiful and sensitive animals are hauled around and passed around and expected to adapt. You do amazing and insightful work and the transformations are evidence of how patiently you listen to their plights. I wish there were more horse owners like you and even though it breaks your heart every single time, I pray you will continue to help these deserving and wonderful creatures.
You gave Little Gus a chance to be sure of himself and wow - what a difference.
I know nothing about horse training - but it's easy to see that your careful, caring and thoughtful approach made all the difference for Little Gus.
I think that story is all too common. Thank you for your patience with him. That is what he needed. You are amazing!
You’re such a brave and patient woman. Your horses are so fortunate to have you as their owner and mentor! Keep up “the good work” Clever Cowgirl…☺
I love your channel thank you Cowgirl. x
Thank you so much!
Thank you for being his voice when now one else would listen to him. 😢❤
I’m seriously amazed at how well you figure out these horses so they are comfortable and happy. There needs to be tougher laws on people who abuse these beautiful horses !!! So thank you so much for the Equestrian you are !! ❤️🐴
I commend you for not giving up but sticking with him. I wish more people would do that.
He is just beautiful... and what a fortunate boy he is, now. You do wonderful work!
I am so happy Little Gus found you! I know he will heal under your care. 🙏❤️ It's so heartbreaking when people give up on an animal. Rarely do you ever have to - if ever. I love watching your videos and listening to you describe everything. I am learning a lot.
I really enjoy your storytelling. Thank you.
He’s a Very Good-Looking horse.
You’re an angel! The humanity you express is so inspiring…sometimes I’m in tears hearing these stories, and watching the love and kindness you have to share with these cast off horses. 🤠❤️🤠❤️
You and Little Gus got me tearing up.
Yes, I had just watched the video of Lil' Gus' antics, and many comments had asked you to follow through with all the hints you were dropping about his interesting backstory. CC, you are a wonderworking, ultra-patient, determined trainer! I praise God for your work ~ He is the giver of all good things! Thanks for sharing the journey here!
One more comment, I love your audience!! Everyone's comment is so beautifully expressed and tender. There are so many many beautiful caring people in the world and it is a pleasure to have found you Clever Cowgirl. And as one commenter stated, "you have a hard time letting them go because you love them. " So true. Namaste'
I enjoy reading the comments as well. Horses and caring people do make for good conversation.
As a former teacher , people can be like gus , I taught vo tech .
So glad Lil' Gus found his way into your life. You are just amazing with these horses.
Lil Gus is lucky that you found him. Thanks for sharing his story.
Little Gus doing well ❤🇨🇦 Yayy!
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels. I love your narrative style and your empathy for all animals. Keep up the great work.
You live in a beautiful part of the world, thank you for sharing with us!
Wow! I love watching how your kindness and wisdom
Has helped this precious baby! I am SO Impressed!
Loved the story of Gus! I’m glad you didn’t give up on him like his previous 4 owners did. ❤
thank you for sharing Gus' story, for being so understanding and caring towards him, and not giving up on him. you're amazing x
You are a very remarkable horsewoman. I admire your ability to help horses through their issues when it comes to humans.
I just love this story of little GUS. Thank you for taking the time to dig into his issues and to understand. So many of these horses are passed from home to home and never given this type of opportunity. You are a treasure to the horse world Clever Cowgirl. 💕
I totally agree. It’s sad to think about what that poor horse went through over its short life.
CC had to uncover a lot of un knowns just to get Gus to stop bucking. And I admire her more and more as I listen to her horse training stories.
She has to clean up a lot of messes from people who think they are horse trainers but are not.
Wow. Poor horse. So glad you have patience and perseverance. He looks like a different horse now. Amazing. ❤
I would describe the horse as strong willed and not broken by a series of rigid people's idea of dominance as control.
@@artemisXsidecross
He acts like he was a bucking horse in the rodeo. That could explain why he was always so wild with a saddle on. He was just doing what he was taught to do: buck.
Little Gus. Is stunning. I love his size and build. Thank You for giving him time and understanding. He looks athletic as well. ❤
Fun sized!
You are the bestest for this horse and thank you for caring for them. So proud of you!
Oh my. Little Gus's story brought tears to my eyes. How sad and miserable he must of felt and no one understood why. Then to see how happy and the trickster he is now, is amazing. You truly have a special touch and a warm heart to work so hard for your horses.
Wow what a story. God treats us like you are able to treat these horses. He never gives up on us either. Love, love, love you.
Lil Gus and Stewie, what a pair they make. Thank you for sharing this story. So many would have given up.
Bless your heart! Thank you for your service also. Probably not looked at as a service by many, but I see the picture as the whole shebang. In that perspective you are on a hero's journey to save animals particularly horses. Love your dedication to understanding them.
We love you Gus!
Thank you for your patience and commitment. ❤
I love Little Gus's story. C C. You are amazing. All your animals are so ucky. I learn so much from you.
Heard tell those troll types are best utilized by composting in those turd piles you’ve got cooking.
Easy to simply grab the manure fork, without any fuss. :-)
Love to see your horses enjoying the vibes of Huckleberry & Tiny. Shows a lot about your individual horse’s sensitivity and curiosity.
Really love & appreciate the deep, contemplative, patient approach to sorting out each horse’s issues/needs. SO refreshing to see.
Thank you for your respectful style and making the effort to put it out there.
Gorgeous horse.
My horse days are long over, but I'm so glad I can live vicariously watching you work with your herd. I've known far too many people who should not have horses - or dogs, or cats, or any other kind of animal. Humans are so stinking impatient and if they don't get instant results, they throw the animal away and get a "better" one. Thanks for being one of the bright lights in a very dark world.
Another great video showing the time and effort that goes in to changing a troubled horse to a more calm/ peaceful one. Very interesting seeing a horse behaviour/ emotions change. Wish the videos were longer, they go to quick when you enjoy them so much. Look forward to the next one.
I couldn’t agree more !!
You have made Life so much better for Little Gus and in His Heart there is now a reason For Hope.....
Treats for everyone!! Love them all and thanks for what you do!! ❤
Thank you! ❤️
Little Gus. What a sad story and what a wonderful job you have done with him. He must have been mistreated and he is such a sensitive soul. Thank you for sharing your journey with him. ❤
You melt my heart ❤The patients, care, and understanding you give your horses is amazing not to mention how hard you work to keep all your animals, little ones and big ones happy. You are there guardian angel 😇 x
That horse is so lucky for you to have found him! Your patience and perseverance is to be applauded! Well done for allowing him to rest and heal. You are saving horses one at a time. My dream life!
Patience is a virtue and Time heals all wounds....well maybe not ALL but helps get past the wounds. I am so glad there are people like you out there that are capable all the way around to give auction horses a second, or fifth, chance. Bless you!!!
I am glad you treated his ulcers first. It takes time for those ulcers, especially the hindgut, to heal. No one wants a belly full of bees. PTSD is real and animals don't often get that taken into consideration when humans are working with them.
Being conscious in the 21st century is to include a level of Post Traumatic Stress. I used the name absent ‘Disorder’ as some feel to be conscious is to acknowledge PTS as a part of awareness and not necessarily as a disorder.
They sure do! His took probably a solid year!
Loved the video! Little Gus is so cute and the pack mule is as well ❤
Oh wow I cannot believe people criticised you letting huckleberry follow the horse. I don’t have any experience with horses and I could tell the dog was NOT bothering the horse. You nailed the problem and have an excellent eye about what is going on with these horses. Please don’t let negativity change anything you do. You got this lady! I really have learned alot just watching you work these beautiful “cow ponies” 😅 I started watching because my niece lives in montana close to glacier national park and now I’m hooked. 😊 your pics are poster perfect. You could sell them I would buy one. Take care. Be safe and can’t wait till the next video.
Thank you for sharing Little Gus’s story. His is a story full of hardship and resilience. Thank you for being his safe place. And, for restoring my belief about, at least a few, human beings.
So many awful things come at the hands of people.
You give me hope.
Congratulations... you've done a wonderful job with little Gus, he trusts you completely now..and he's as handsome as can be..and the little mule ..sounds awesome..
So glad little gus found you... very special thanks. 👍🩵✌️
Your efforts with Little Gus are remarkable. He's come a long way. You have a gentle touch and a keen mind, and patience in assessing your horses. The rewards of those qualities are so very obvious. As for Huckleberry's behavior, I was watching more closely in this video and I saw that he really stayed closer to you. I didn't see anything to suggest he was harassing Little Gus. He's no doubt a good dog, and a smart one two.
I’m so glad Gus ended up with you. You were perfect for him. He is such a beautiful horse. I hope you keep him for his life.
💜💜💜
Your patience Is your greatest gift. I watch Raleigh Links channel where she has a series of the worst trainers and they all need anger management. Bravo and kudos to you.
I loved you sharing the Stroy of Little Gus! How very fortunate for him you bought him, and were able to make him feel accepted, showed him a New way to be!
You are just the best owner a horse could ever have x
I love following your horse life. You are so inspiring and I love being along for your horses journeys.
