Those expensive horses in the later half of your video were beautiful and well behaved, but they got that way only because people like you devoted years of good quality care and patient training. You do a wonderful job with your horses, especially those who have special health concerns. Some owners would rather pass that burden off to the next buyer rather than address it. You should be proud of the care and love you give to your horses. I’m impressed and happy for your babies. Well done!

I love it when a trainer like you breaks through layers of fear and resistance and gains an animal's trust. It's a beautiful miracle. And I love seeing you become your own farrier. It’s like purchasing a dog vs adopting. I have 2 dogs, one is a purebred GS the other a GS rescue. I paid a lot for my purebred but for that money I got a complete history of temperament, health and genetics for 10 generations. I trained her myself with no help. With my rescue I got her for free BUT I ended up spending all most the same as my purebred due to fear issues from the abuse she had done to her. I had to get help from a professional trainer because she was so fearful. Her fear was way beyond my ability to help her and rather put her down I got her help. She will always be timid with strangers but she doesn’t react like she did because she’s scared. She’s much more confident and happier than she was so the money was worth spending

If you got money, sure you can go buy someone else's hard work and commitment to that horse. But besides the money that buyer has nothing invested in him/her of themselves. I would much more rather have 100's of hours of sweat, worry, tears, hopes and dreams, actually working with the horse to change its demeanor, help them to over come their fears and perhaps give them back their life. Yea, anyone with money can buy a horse and call it theirs. But not so many, like you, can reshape a lost or abused horse that will learn to love you, get to know your voice and even come running to you when they see you and all because you took the time, patience and love to care for an unwanted beauty in the rough. When you have that gift and yes, it is a gift from God you get so much more than just a horse, you make a new friend and maybe even a new family member. I'll take your way any day over theirs 🐴🐴🐴

If you have the patience and expertise you can buy extremely well bred quarter horse colts for anywhere from 2.5K to 8K here in Montana and raise them up and train them to be 100K or greater horses. That was how my great grandfather and grandfather made their money. Great grandpa trained horses until he was 92 years old(that was the last year he trained a horse and he died the following year). I definitely see the up side of this type of auction though for people who have the money and want a solid, proven horse that will be the same every day from the day they buy it until the day it passes away. I actually like this kind of auction because it gives people who have worked hard, and made a life for themselves the ability to buy a safe, sound horse as they love horses but just don't have the time or expertise to make a horse like this for themselves, and that's OK. They should be able to enjoy the love of a good horse just like any other person who dreams of one day having their own horse to ride. I can't imagine a life without horses, honestly I don't want to ever live in a reality like that and I wouldn't want anyone else to have to live in a reality like that either. Do you ever make any runs up north to the Canadian dispersal sales from the different AQHA breeders up there? I didn't go this year but I plan to start back up next year hopefully, they sell some excellent started 3 - 4 year old prospects for really low prices especially when you take the exchange rate into account.

The most expensive and legendary horse I ever rode was one of the Marlboro horses. His regular name was Shorty, but he had a long fancy thoroughbred name, and he certainly wasn't short, being 16 hands tall. My friend had bought him, and we went on a all day trail ride with around 300 other horses. This ride was not for the faint of heart! Some of the trails were almost vertical as this one particular one was. I felt like "The Man from Snowy River" going down that bluff, and Shorty took it all in stride. I just gave him his head and let him pick his way down. Oh, the memories we made that day! Such fun, and I have a ton of pictures for proof. ❤

I can see if they are performance winners or something....it just goes to show the wealth gap we have in the country as, obviously there are a lot of folks that are able to pay that. Now that it is past the pandemic I wonder if the prices will continue to climb, or stabilize or now decline as folks have to back into the office more and more...I figure some people realized how awesome horses are from the pandemic and will stay in it. I am sure hoping we don't see a surplus of horses in years to come that are going to be off loaded into unsavory conditions etc.
The one your friend liked was indeed super fancy!

Some of them were proven in different disciplines and all were very well bred! I think the really nice ones will stay high for then next 5 years or so, Lots of smaller breeders are not producing anymore and registration numbers are down. Rescues are paying alot of money to "bail" slaughter type horses leaving people who are working with a very small budget less options for good horses. It is an interesting time in the industry for sure!

I had no idea western trained horses could go for so much. I appreciate horses greatly but don't know much about them or the industry. I used to live next to a horse farm where the teens did junior rodeo and won rodeo queen competitions. Eighteen years ago they were thrilled to get this one slightly older competition experienced horse with good joints (which could still compete) for $10,000. So I thought prices in this range, plus or minus, were the thing. I thought only jumpers fetched the prices I just saw here! But amazing horses. Surely worth it for those with this kind of pocket change.

I'll take a shelter dog every time. There's just something about them, it seems they are truly grateful for their new home. The thing I love most is when during training a dog has a "lightbulb" moment, it gets the correlation between the task, and reward then gives you that "well did I do it right?" look and gets the celebratory zoomies when they get praise!!

My parents paid $35 bucks from local SPCA, back in 1978. For a black Shetland pony. She was a rescue pony, & was blind in one eye (blinded from abuse) she had been seriously abused…absolutely terrified of people, apparently ridden by adults also. & she was only 10 hands.
For me, 12 years at the time. A barely 4’10” 75 lbs kid.
We lived on a horse ranch at the time. So she was almost in our backyard.
I must say she was probably one of the best things to ever happen to me 🎉🙏🏼♥️
She was unbelievably strong and healthy, thank God💙
The rule was after I finished my homework, I could ride “ knickers “. & we lived right next to a huge park. I even had to cross a little stream on her, not in the winter. Of course, it was a raging river, lol.
Never once did I hurt myself; never fell-off, bitten or kicked. And we galloped through the park ! Jumped over falling down trees. She jumped no problem, never went lame. She was so strong.
I used an English snaffle & bridle, with a bare back pad, no saddle. I was the only one to handle her, but she did love my family. They were able to be around her without her showing any signs of fear. Also she was great for the farrier & veterinarian.
She was my first pony, and she taught me so much. It was unbelievable she was so clever, so smart, & so sweet, never showed any aggression ever. (even after such abuse)
I think she thought of me, as a blessing, as I did her ♥️⭐️♥️
Of course, it didn’t take long for me to grow-out of her. We retired her to live with another white Shetland pony in pasture together at “Whiffletree Ranch” where they continued to love our precious knickers”🙏🏼💙⭐️

This was such a great audio explanation along with the video experience. It is so well done and interesting to cowpokes like me. Like most hired trainers,. I just mostly go to look for other clients wanting fully educated animals. You explain the yes-is and no-s and breeding points clearly. Just great.

One of my friends spent 30,000 dollars for his daughter’s barrel racing horse while she was in HS. I was shocked. It’s not like he was well off but he told me that she could win almost all of that back in a few years. And she did. My friend was in his 50s and competed in many of the local rodeos. It wasn’t unusual for him to make anywhere from 2 to 4 grand during a weekend of rodeoing. Do that a couple times a month and it adds up quick.

Wow. This is fascinating. Thanks so much. Less depressing than the auctions with the poor $500 horses that may be rescued or may be thrown away. But one of the rescue horses you train may end up at a high-end sale like this.

It's good to see the prices of well bred & well trained horses growing.
I was fortunate enough to spend some time at the Loomis Ranch a couple times. I rode a couple of the up and coming Topsail Whiz, 2 year Olds, wow they were fabulous. It's sad that Whiz is gone, he was a awesome stallion. You could literally walk out into his paddock and he was always happy to see you. 🥰💔 I will always cherish his memory.

I tend to also love the ones that no one else wants as they deserve as much love as the ones that cost 50K. They are amazing when you love them and they blossom!

You have set your course, Miss Clever Cowgirl, and you are doing it well and wisely. Just a peek into the ridiculous side of things might tempt you to think in other terms, but your gift is important and recognised, as well as appreciated by so many here!!! When I am considering what I want to invest in, I want to put every dollar where it can do the most good! I do not care to "drive" my money around, so I drive a little KIA....I don't want to wear my money around either...so I thrift shop for a lot of things. This allows my hubby and I to invest in people who would not otherwise have the means to help themselves.
Don't let the sparkle detract you...all that glitters is not gold!
Anyway, just keep your eyes on the goal...we love you and are backing you 100%!!
Can't wait for the next vid - love from the southeast!!!
