I did 9 years, 7 at SCI Albion for arm robbery when I made parole. Went in front of the parole panel only once and got approved for parole when my "green sheet" came in. Just be honest, show remorse and show enthusiasm for employment. Been out 8 years now.

@dead space You realize the penal system is severely overcrowded right? There's no way to house all the offenders without repercussions of tax burdens and risking infectious diseases while putting correctional staff members at risk.
I did the time. The jury of your peers sentenced me to a minimum and a maximum. And once again, the jury of your peers granted my parole once I reached my minimum because they saw, in their best judgement, that I have turned my life around.
I speak for tens of thousands of inmates who are on the same boat and changed their ways. If it wasn't for the parole board, I would have left jail on bitter terms and society would have suffered greatly.

Parole should be abolished. It is a common practice for parole personelle to extend a judicially imposed sentence on an inmate who didn’t meet their requirements and they do it for political reasons. In many cases, to serve the private sectors who invest billions in prisons. Being an administrative body, no parole person should have the power to enhance an imposed sentence by a judge in court. Give flat sentences for crimes committed and you’ll see less people in prison. Keep parole going and you’ll keep seeing recidivism rates go up. Shut parole down and use these billions of dollars on better educating these criminals and you’ll see a better outcome and we’ll live in a better world.

Let me tell you something if anybody reading this and this is a true fact, I'm 63 years old and I did 10 years in the penitentiary in Chicago Illinois, how much is call me when I was 5 years old and now I'm back in Pittsburgh been hit 22 years, and I'll come to realize that Pittsburgh don't give a damn about you getting out of jail, if your life was bad it's going to be worse if you parole to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, they getting together the white people making sure you ain't got nowhere to stay if you ain't got no family, if you ain't got no money you better not try to go back to East Liberty cuz his back white can't pay rent over there, and yes I said it Pittsburgh is not the place to come if you're homeless, if you ain't got no money, and you ain't got no family try to go to any state but Pittsburgh Pennsylvania cuz they don't give a damn about you
