- JD Simo plugs an original 1960 Les Paul straight into a 1966 Fender Vibrolux. This beautiful "Burst" was owned by legendary guitarist, Ed King. With a serial number dating early 1960, this Les Paul has the coveted '59 neck profile. The guitar is loaded with a pair of PAFs which provide the legendary tone that is often replicated but never duplicated. The neck pickup has been replaced with a double-white PAF from '59. In terms of playability and sound, they just don't get any better than this! There is a repaired headstock crack which led Ed to nickname the guitar "Crackhead". The tuning keys have been replaced and the neck re-fretted. Comes with the original hard case.

That...tone.... I'm a fender guy but god damnnnnn those notes just sounded toooooo goood
Well at least he is playing through a Fender amp...as it should be!
Just get both.
@@cgavin1 nobody asked dickhead
He’s just a master of the instrument. Every note burns from his soul- so real
When the bridge pick up kicks in...Oh, man.
Very strong Peter Green vibes here. Incredible playing by JD.
Omfg. That is how you play a Les Paul. When JD hit that bottom pickup with the volume balls out, he made that guitar sing, howl, and cry all at the same time. Mastery right here folks.
Just beautiful.
Amazing tone, JD is the best
So much tension in his playing, I was screwing my face-up, listening to him!!
Just amazing when he holds those bends and the note just rolls over....so vocal.
That’s my holy grail guitar, played by one of my favorite blues men.
Awesome guitar with killer tone.
JD is nailing those early 60s BB King licks.
Amazing. Sounds a lot like Peter Green on the live albums.
i’ve always thought those were peter green’s best tones
Same guitar Same amp
Teaparty live used a dualshowman ( twin reverb Head version ) here is a lot like a deluxe
I was literally doing guitar faces listening to this. JD somehow tried to make me think what he thinks during these 3 minutes. Daaaam bro...
What a crazy f**** tone - JD Simo is amazing! The feeling of his playing...soooo good!
I sometimes sit back and wonder, "Why the hell would someone pay a half million dollars for a guitar?" Then I hear one and it answers my question for me.
So much tone just with the knobs, people tend to forget bout that. One of my guitar heros hands down.
This channel is (until today) the one and only that I had hit the bell for instant notifications, you know why.
I just discovered J.D. from these guitar demos. I follow all his stuff now. Wow!
Hmm. I think when it comes to the blues, JD is superior to JB.
Ummm. Ya think. Lol.
Are you talking about Boner-massa?
@@mikejamieson4252 Yup.
not cool to shit on jack black like that
@Ryan Singer Yes. By a long shot.
Just got to witness and hold this beauty in Nashville. For sale and on display currently. RIP Ed King...
there are not many like him
fabulous technic
fabulous sound

This may be one of the greatest demos of all time. Not only for the prospective sale of the instrument, but also State lotteries all over the country.
I've said this a few times regarding this guys playing, and it's his sublime right hand technique. So often overlooked, but the hallmark of all virtuoso guitarists
I absolutely love this kind of playing, what a wonderful guitar player.
Good god a mighty . That sounds so amazing good lord cold chills
As far as myself, I don't feel the need to comment. He just made that Paul say all that there needs to be said. My hats off to JD...
Wonderful tone, and I hope the court case went well.
can`t beat the sound of vintage
les paul.
Gotta love the Tony Soprano pinky ring!
More tender chops than a butcher shop.
in a lovely way i admire jd’s playing at the same time i like to imagine les paul’s playing especially from this year
... Like he dropped by on his way home from church. I like it ...
I'd dress up to play a guitar of that value also.
Great to to hear a demo of a Les Paul that isn't rinsed with overdrive. Awesome tonal spectrum on show, he's such a great musician...... Shame I can't pony up $250k!
Playing the blues this way and with a 60 Burst in a suit and with a pinky ring...Top this!!
JD is the man and if anyone can see him live.
That tone is just stunning
Do you have to be that much of a badass to rock that pinky ring or does the pinky ring help push you over the edge into this realm of badassery?
Jonathan Torgrimsen column a and column b
Faaantastic, wonderfull, how great J.D. can play.
This great instruments are so wonderfull in his hands!!!
Wow, just wow! I work my butt off with computers to get my LP to sound like that.
Killer guitar, killer amp, killer guitar player = magic!
JD was bringing the heat!
Mercy that's incredible
Astounding guitar, master instrumentalist! Beautiful combination.
Awesome J.D.
Cred to the the Fender amp as well!! No doubt that this is a stellar guitar and a very skilled player with strong knowledge of the blues genre. But most importantly for this tone is the amp, a Fender Vibrolux Reverb. B.B. King´s tone also came from a humbucker Gibson through a Fender amp. Same with Albert King, Freddie King, all three Kings.
Down and dirty! Sounds Great!
Great sound!!!
Great sounding guitar and playing!
That bridge pickup is the voice of god.
JD looks like he sells Cadillac's
Isn't that what this channel does? The Cadillac of guitars.
EC and Greenie ❤️
J D is a Beast!
Freekin guitar porn. Keep the gear demos comin. What a musician this cat is. Huge soul, tone to the bone!!!
This man is going through a lot of pain in his heart
Wow...Blues Breaker era Clapton...amazing tone...
nailed it, man!
more like a fusion between that and live at the reagal BB king
Soooooooooo good!
Pure...
Wow!! Love it !
0:59 thaat toneee omg
.... oh yes... I like it
great technic
You can go out and have a bite to eat, and it'll still be playing.
Superb.
Epic!
damn! That was tooo much ☠️I just died 🔥
Tone too good!
Great tribute to BB King - live at the regal.
Listen to Sweet Angel to recognise this sound
Sooooooo good
My god the tone! Loud enough to not hear those annoying strings being picked, the fatness of those PAF's are the best I've heard
Great place and people, plus Arnold's meat and three is next door !
Thumbs up for Arnold’s...greasy good as Simo’s tone
My man JD looks like he got them meat sweats.
i like it 💪💪💪🎵
Madonna santa.... 🖖🏻🎸
Holy shit
1:39 Lick so bluesy we can't hear it.
1000th like. Can I have the guitar? ✌🏻❤️🇬🇧
👍🔥🎸🦅
I hear BB King... most certainly, I do... and others, but the opening.... oh, have mercy...
Well that was tasty.......
Boooooooaaaaaah... 😮🎸
If a random person wanted to demo a burst at Carter's, could they?
良い❤😊
The suit and playing style reminds me of Joe Bonamassa
Bonamassa plays nothing like that.
one more time but with feeling lol
He must be using a Klon pedal, I know its there behind the amp.
No extra sauce necessary.
sheyat
You people sure know how to sell a guitar. brought out the big guns for this one!
Is this the same one Graham Whitford played?
Hard t believe but yes! This recording she sings. The Whitford one just sounded like a $100 Les Paul copy.
why dont they make epiphone les pauls with that faded finish....god damn....i guess i love the subtlety or something. I hate super high gloss.....the guitar looks so sticky....fingerprint magnet
Les Paul into cranked Fender Blackface > Les Paul into cranked Marshall Plexi
Wow. Is he using some sort of pedal? What are the amp settings
Revelry 1969 He is using the volume pots.
bigfancycar yes... Looks straight in. Pots are good. Curious what about settings on amp
A new pedal called practice and volume, tone and his mother loving mitts
gus dupree That’s a really long name for a pedal
Revelry 1969 alot of it is overtones from the PAFS, but JDz fingers in combo with it
I can do it better 😁.... Just kidding, I wish I was half as good... Great job as always!!!
Where i’m from, crackhead means you’re addicting to crack cocaine
somebody been listening to Steven segal!!!
what are the amp settings?
is he in pain?
Yeah, he’s got the blues.
Learn the major scale
He sounds this good on a $500 guitar too
No he actually doesn't. No one does. His phrasing and note placement would be inherently identical, but the tone on a $500 guitar vs. a vintage LP with old military grade wire and pots is no comparison. If you ever get the chance to play one sometime you'll understand.
Why does JD look like a insurance salesman?
He is doing a Chicago blues thing for his next album from interviews I have seen.
because the price of the guitar.....
.....only doctors and lawyers can buy the guitar
there is nothing for musicians....
Because he wants to. This guy's got the goods and a great vintage sensibility.
He's tuned down to drop B. That's how he's getting that fat blues tone
Standard tuning D blues
Actually not as good as I was expecting...sounds very similar to the reissue
Lol. Play one in person and then say that. Ive played a 58 a 59 and a 60, and they all have murdered any reissue i've played lol
Isn't that the point of a reissue?
I've played a real '58 Les Paul and it sounded AMAZING, this one not so much. I guess they weren't all magic.
@@1954telecaster I think you are either deaf or just plain dumb to make that comment after listening to this demo. Lol.
I can't tell if you're trying to sound edgy by being literally the only one here not impressed with this tone or if you are actually that tone deaf...
