Why doesn't the coach call the Milan star "loftus cheek " to join the England national team? This player is physically strong, excellent at retrieving balls, dribbling and fast, and his technical level is very high....he scored many wonderful goals with Milan. Southgate wants to win games with a slow build up from defence -> midfield -> attack. Can't do that with someone as terrible on the ball as Maguire. Teams simply let him hold onto it and mark others out the game. Then they let him make a bad pass and counter. All the patience and slow build up undone in 5 seconds.

I believe with an average defense, when you have an attack this talented, this team should be good enough to win tournaments.
Stones, Walker and Shaw at their best aren't average.
The back 4 of Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw when all fully fit and on form is a good enough defence barring individual mistakes. The key is the midfield and if we go with one or two pivots.

@@XhosaShinobi01 Doesn't work like that I'm afraid mate. Middlesbrough in 96 had 2 of the best players in the league and one of them was one of the best players in the world at the time whilst the other had just won the champions league but with the defence being so bad the team was relegated.
The way we play is not the most efficient use of our talent. We get the ball slowly encroach to the opponents half and then do 15 + passes side to side. This will not hurt opponents.
All these debates are so pointless you just have to focus on the top 10 win stat and it says it all. 4 out of 29 is shocking and shows the lack of tactics. It’s just an 11 on the pitch if they win they win.

I don't know who in their right mind would still trust Kane with a penalty if Toney is on the pitch. Kane fucked up against Denmark then did even worse against France. He can't be trusted in high pressure situations. If toney has ice in his veins then Kane must have boiled piss in his veins. He bottles it every time.

Its not rocket science. Southgate plays a 6-4 system, but doesn't play an orchestrator in the 6, so it quickly turns into a 7-3 system. Teams that play a 7-3 system dont have alot of possession in the opposition final third, don't create alot of clear cut chances and dont have alot of SOT. That doesn't change regardless of who is in the 3.
Its Utd style football and, just like Utd, it wont win England trophies.

This stuff isn’t rocket science, England have loads of good players but aren’t a good collective as a team. England are touted as favourites because the other nations aren’t as good as they used to be.
the other nations aren't as good as they used to be but will still knock England out because of experience, mental toughness and know how & England lack all 3. not to mention they have better tactical managers than England do.
England won't be able to beat any of the top European nations despite what anyone might say about the top nations not being at their best they are still better than England in terms of experience and know how and England just don't know how to beat these teams.
Bellingham is not a 10, he is an 8. Foden is England's most creative player, he should be utilized there.
He plays as a 10 for Real Madrid and has scored 16 goals in the league since being moved to that position.
It’s not that he’s an 8 or a 10 that’s the issue. It’s that Southgate just isn’t a very good coach so englands patterns of play are constantly poor and the players are always disjointed because of that.
Maddison and Grealish or more genuine playmaker than Foden.
Agreed, with all that possession we have, we waste it using Bellingham as a 10. He’s not the type to have that killer pass or killer shot from distance. Maddison or Foden are natural 10s.

I'm sorry, but I don't know what planet these pundits are on. They talk as if the last World Cup was a success. We were knocked out in the quarter finals by a team that did not even win the competition and only maid that game competitive because we got penalties. Without penalties we produced no goals and France scored at will in open play the minute we levelled. We were not good enough and I know why, but will not say it because I have said it enough. Actually I will. We had the arrogance to think we can leave the best and highest scoring English winger in Premier League history,, and the player who almost single handedly dragged us to the European cup final on the bench, and beat France. Stupidity of the highest order and we are about to do it again, expecting a different result. Peace and love
