    Just got the elite myself a couple weeks ago direct from Work Sharp!
    It's pretty convenient and does a decent job...one small issue I encountered was the angle adjustment moving slightly after switching stones! Remedied that problem with a zip tie on the pivot after determining my angel... other than that it's pretty sweet and super portable! I did buy a nice wood block strop to go with my kit just for that final razor edge!!!
    Good video and good buy IMHO!

      I found the same issue about the adjustment knob moving. I just hold it perfectly in place as I sharpen. I get a craze-balls edge on my knifes now! Anytime I let someone use my knife, the most common response is, “holy shit, your knife is sharp!”

    Ordered the kit for me, and some portable kit for my son yesterday from your link. It arrived this am, and dude is this kit stout. Again, I really appreciate this one. Now I just have to find a good, domestic knife oil company. I've used hoppes and Lucas in the past. Haven't really looked at what's out there in a while. Quick shot of clp, and good to go, lol.

  • @Wklambert
    @Wklambert Před 2 lety +6

    Y'know, I've always wanted to get a kit like this. I've always used the edge of my truck window. Never got a consistent edge, but it worked in a pinch. This kit though, would be perfect for both me, and my son. We have a ton of knives that really need a good sharpening. Really like how this thing holds the knife, nice and tight, and the adjustable angle. I am going to have to get us both one, and ship his to Germany. (He's enlisted) Thanks for this bro. Looks like folders shouldn't be an issue either. And, Merry Christmas!

    This looks extremely well engineered and simple to use. Got to admit I'm impressed. I wasn't very impressed with the edge you created but I realize you're just demonstrating how to use this tool and not really trying to make a really sharp knife! But it would be interesting to see the results of a effort to make a great edge. A free hand my knives and certainly can get a Great page but it is rather tedious to do and takes a while to learn. So this looks like it would be a great option assuming it can make a great edge.

      I know this is an old ass comment but this sharpener easily gets my s30v edges to hair popping level of sharpness. Takes a couple runs to get the hang of but just today I reprofiled a D2 blade and by the end it wasn't even gripping my hair, it just effortlessly cut them.

    I have a pretty basic wicked edge system but I've thought about selling it and picking up one of these. Anyone have experience with both? I love the wicked edge, but it seems dumb to have $400 wrapped up in that when this does more or less the same thing. I've never cared much about a mirror edge just like keeping my blades shaving sharp.

    • @TalonSei
      @TalonSei  Před 2 lety +4

      I have both and I tend to use this now just because it is easier to setup and simpler although the wicked edge will definitely give you more professional sharpening capabilities

  • @ddrag-on5287
    @ddrag-on5287 Před 2 lety +1

    YO Sei, you got to always do your sharpening stoke towards/into the blade. pushing the stone. not pulling down. lift up on down stroke.
    you can go both directions when just profiling, but when finishing, towards middle set of stones, begin to just gring on push stroke, into blade.
    try it.
    This will greatly improve your edge.
    Hope it helps.
