Hi again. Your order of top ten is pretty much spot on; enjoyed it. Just two comments from me here. First regarding your purchase of Iranian rug. Please be sure to do your research. Not all Iranian rugs increase in value with age; rugs from certain regions/tribes do and others don't. A bit like classic cars; not all old cars will be classified as classic or increase in value. Second, when we all hopefully see the back of this pandemic, and you decide (sounds like you've already decided!) to travel to Iran, please do not restrict your travels to just Tehran. As beautiful as it is, when it comes to sightseeing gems in Iran it doesn't even come close. Anyway, enjoyed that and thank you.

Regarding the fact #3, Rumi isn't "the" national poet in Iran.
There are five pillars of classical Persian poetry, who are equally revered by all Iranians: Hafez, Saadi, Rumi, Khayyam, and Ferdowsi. That is not to say that other great Persian poets like Rudaki, Attar, Nizami, ... are lesser known in Iran.
I would say that among Iranians, Hafez (whose poetry is almost impossible to translate) is the most read, and translations of Rumi and Khayyam are the best-sellers in the West. The most popular Persian poet alive is Ebtehaj (aka Sayeh).

Although Rumi is a great poet of our country I wouldn't classify him as the greatest. Many other poets are either above or on the same level as him. For example, Ferdowsi is a great poet that can be credited for preserving the Persian language. After the invasion of the Arabic tribe in Iran, the national language of Iran shifted from Persian to Arabic and it was he who preserved and brought back the language from near extinction. his famous quote "بسی رنج بردم در این سال سی / عجم زنده کردم بدین پارسی" references the fact that he spent 30 years of his life in hardship writing the "shah-name " the book of kings and that he has resurrected both the Persian history, traditions, and language. there are also others such as hafez, Saadi and Nizami Ganjavi.

Unfortunately , persepolis lost 2 experienced and veteran football players in just one week because of damn coronavirus ; first Mehrdad Minavand and then after 7 days we lost Ali ansarian too .. we are all sad in iran because they were too young and were best friends for each other...💔
