Maybe. We can't know how many years the Shinigami had stockpiled. To us, it would make sense to store many years, but we also know the Shinigami are generally lazy, bored, and would have no reason to worry much about running out of time. Rem and Jealous could have had hundreds of years or less than a decade between them, we can't know - only speculate.

    • @AzureRadio
      @AzureRadio Před 8 měsíci +104

@@xiphosmaniacWhen her backstory was being told by Rem she was cornered in an alley about to be didled and merced and Jealous was watching and in love with her (he almost always was watching just her).
The only way that he could save her, going to human realm (if he even could) would have taken too long. So as a result Jealous uses his eyes to merc the guy about to nerc Misa, which activated a rule of the book/Shinigami being that if a Shinigami mercs to protect someone they love they will in turn fail to alive. It also transfers their remaining years to the one protected.
When Rem has her subscription to life expire it is to protect Misa as well.
L has her captured and cornered and Light won't/can't do anything to save her and knew Rem would merc L to save Misa. She then does the deed to L to save her losing her life as a result and yet again funneling her remaining years into Misa.
So simple math, let's assume Misa's subscription date for life expiration was that night in the alley, she have 0 years left.
Jealous saves her and gives her 100 years.
She then takes the deal, dropping her to 50 years.
She then transfers ownership and regains it and takes the eyes back and halves again to 25 years.
Rem then goes byebye giving her 100 years bringing her total to 125.
That's all assuming both Shinigami only had 100 years stored.
Each time they eat a soul they get the remainder of their time.
Unless the alley dude, L, and Qatari were all destined to punch their card that way (that's impossible) she AT MINIMUM gained gained 40(L)+40(Alley)+20(Watari) giving 100 years, assuming both Shinigami were going to croak that day.
Misa had the MOST plot armor in the entire series and throws a crybaby whiny baby party when Light dies and cancels her subscription herself on a cliff.
Worst case she was going to live to 130, best case she had THOUSANDS of years to live.
God Misa is a horrible character.
      Lol

The scene is so good. If you remember they play this really tragic music that sets the tone of what someone "should" be feeling in the moment which clashes heavily with Light's inner monolog trying to figure out a way to play the scene to get his dad to get rid of Mello and not even being sad about his dad being on his deathbed, and worse, dooning his father to an afterlife in purgatory because he used the notebook. (Which, from clues in the tailend of the series leads me to believe he was also changed into a shinigami)

Soichiro did not use the note book in the end. Also in the manga, just before Light dies, a flashback plays to that convo about notebook users not going to heaven or hell. That scene was expanded and basically Light called Ruyk out on his bs claiming that it just means heaven or hell does not exist at all. Ryuk, impressed by Light's sharpness, confirms it, claiming that all humans end up in the same place after death no matter what. So using notebook doesn't exclude you from the fate shared by others in death.

Don’t mean to sound like a hater but what is this “Used the Death Note so well the Shinigami King had to change the rules” like respectfully what? He ain’t even use it. All he basically did was sell it. The smartest thing he did was basically have the knowledge to sell it via also somewhat helping the Japanese economy by essentially giving random citizens of Japan 1 Mill and using Ryuk to promote it. If feel like when fans say he used the Death Note so well they mean he never got caught with it in his possession and nor was Near capable of every figuring out who had it. Which while is impressive it’s not like Near could ever find him in the first place, he literally did not use the book and never left it on him. They was know one he could suspect but simply had to take the L (pun not intended) Also while what the Shinigami King did was a dick move I would call him a coward. Coward implies a fear of something. Don’t believe the Shinigami King feared him as much as he was simply annoyed of the situation with essentially everyone getting knowledge of the Death Note in the world and everyone trying to bid for it probably rubbed him the wrong way maybe even thinking to himself
“Use it or give it up what is this bullshxt”

I think what annoyed me about A-Kira was that he got done so dirty. When you initially receive the Death Note, you are able to read and accept all the rules *before* you start using it. You're informed about how everything works, so it's an equitable arrangement. Since we are already in Spoiler territory due to the video: If you read the Special, just as Ryuk is about to hand the Book to Trump, he does inform Trump about it, who promptly rejects it, but plans to never tell a soul that he doesn't actually have it (still giving him a lot of power because people would assume the US has the notebook) but Minoru is left entirely in the dark and then dies without ever having a chance to reject the payment.
By changing the rules after the Sale the Shinigami King broke part of the Core of what makes the Death Note so appealing imho

There is literally a rule in the note that says that a shinigami has no obligation to explain all the rules. In my opinion the rules we see in between anime episodes and whatnot are for us to see and the only rules light read are the ones Ryun chose to write on that one singular page. We can see light experimenting with the rules and Ryuk needing to explain some rules that light didn’t know prior

The original Japanese text says “the lifespan visible by shinigami eyes is the original lifespan, one that is not affected/influenced by the death note in the human world. If the victim is killed using the death note, the remaining lifespan of that victim will be provided to the Shinigami” so the lack of influence refers to the fact that owning a death note/a death note existing in the human world can change a persons life span, and that the shinigami eyes won’t tell you that affected lifespan. You definitely can still control a human with Shinigami eyes.

Ohba confirmed Near "is a cheater". He definitely manipulated Mikami I remember thinking that after watching the last episode and especially after finishing the manga, its very L like and Near wanted to prove more than anything Light is Kira, which ironically Light could have used to his advantage by convincing the others of this if he had remained calm since he had three crucial points of information.
1-Near is desperate to prove Light is Kira at whatever cost
2-Near and the others could see Ryuk (meaning they touched the Death Note)
3-Mikami acted out of character act a critical moment
Had Light rationalized those three things he could've delayed everyone just long enough by convincing them of these things (even if untrue) and then wrote their names down since they were unaware he hid a piece of the note on him. Light's downfall was he never conceived he could lose (Ohba also stated he never doubted himself), had he accounted for that he may have won.

They can't just steal it from the bank, make an exact duplicate and return it back to the bank all in just a night. I mean, first of all, it was kept in the bank for a reason: security. As much as I love Minoru and A Kira story, I’d say a major con I see many leave out is the disastrous consequences that would follow
An economic crisis would come to two countries: America and Japan
What Minoru did was practically cause another Great Depression for America, with the loss of so much money that was owned by the country itself, and possibly the greatest inflation that would ever grace manoind, with each Japanese citizen gaining around the same amount of money, and it being so high would cause the value of it to dramatically decrease, similar to Germany’s economic depression. Unless Japan’s citizens solely bought outside the country itself and used it sparingly, as well as giving/spending money to America, an economic crisis is sure to follow
Overall, I still really enjoyed the manga and was actually to, somewhat, predict what his end goal was (I figured he was going to send it to a select group of people, causing the story to last longer (forgot it was a short story) and create a similar chase as the original series except also different) and the plan was indeed practically built near perfect
Honestly a shame how he ended up

    • @shotaaizawa1206
      @shotaaizawa1206 Před 10 měsíci +28

I realize if I don’t mention it, I will get people saying “but they showed them being prosperous”
Well, while that is true, it wouldn’t last long when you realize, if the value stayed the same, there would be much more demand than possible
Imagine if everyone decided to buy to classic styled mustangs, there would be no time to make it, too little resources locally and too costly far away, and get inthe way of other things needed to be produced
It would also cause to things for the work environment: 1) no one would get anything done since they’re filthy rich; 2) it would make make it much more difficult to pay those that are working, since both employees and higher ups would have the same amount of money, even if they were already rich, to each other and not enough to give the workers that would equal the amount they worked for
Now, it was in Tokyo itself, yes, but even then it still would cause a disastrous affect around Japan, as every citizen there is filthy rich, the inflation rises there , resources are bought constantly outside of Tokyo, and cause the outer areas to work much harder, beyond capable
And the there is how it all affects the human element. Tokyo’s population, as mentioned, would likely stop working for a time and not be paid a fair amount of working, and the outer areas would likely revolt, due to lack of value they have, how much they must work, and being completely left out
Maybe dying while receiving the money was secretly a blessing in disguise, because now Japan is going to be in a depressive hell, along with the US.

Seems like a oversight by the writers, but maybe we can just assume that she's THAT dumb to not think that bit of info is important.

And even if you don't remember the exact letter/number, you'd remember that it's just ONE of something, which would be a significant information to Light. Like, honestly, both of us is just making excuses for her lmao.

I feel like Mikami is the most slandered person in death note. I think some people have gotten gaslighted by Light into blaming Mikami for "making an unnecessary move". When Mikami and light spoke on the phone Light told Mikami ,"he could not move freely." Mikami understood that to mean that Light could no longer kill freely seeing as Kira gave Mikami a deathnote. Light could have during that phone call, during any of the meetings between him and Takada or asked Ryuk to tell Mikami correct hisself and told Mikami that he could kill a few people in an absolute pinch with the piece in his watch. Light did not tell Mikami this. Mikami Logicly assumed that of he didn't kill Takada then the piece of the deathnote she wrote Mello's name on could be discovered. So i would argue that Mikami's actions were VERY necessary if you look at the situation from an objective point of view. Light himself agreed it was necessary when he killed Takada in a car with two people who suspect him of being Kira.
If light and Mikami could have communicated without Takada them both writing her name down would have been discovered and the mistake could have been fixed. About Mikami not testing the notebook before coming to the meeting i prescribe to the theory that Near used to deathnote to control Mikami so I dont blame Mikami for that.

I've always though something was off about Misa and that there was a deeper backstory for her, or it could just have been how she was written.
    1) Her parents were murdered by a stalker(?) so who reported the murder and named the suspect.
    - Then again, the IRL Japanese justice system seems 'Guilty till proven innocent', as a notable chunk of their prisoners are later found innocent. Even in other countries like America you get people who are sent to prison for DECADES and can later be proven innocent.
    2) Also, it seems like she was modeling young and had a stalker(I assume from modeling) that was going to kill her. IDK why else a Shinigami who loved her would interfere and die from killing someone who was hurting another human.
    - I think Misa's life was supposed to end there but that's my head cannon.
    3) With her parents dead, who was taking care of Misa. I assume Misa was still underage/needed a guardian with her parents gone.
    - Was it some relatives? or was Misa alone, and traumatized by her parent's death and nearly her own?
    4) While Misa makes the Eye deal twice, she had the life spans of 2 shinigami... however does it seem like the numbers can change and not because of the passage of time?
    - I don't think the life span numbers show WHEN they would die, just a time frame for a natural death. Assuming no murder, sickness, Natural disaster or self-deletion.
    5) Misa gives me the impression that she is Codependent. Possibly her parents(mother) got her into modeling very young and did everything to make Misa look cute. I've noticed Misa is very short, then again not sure if it's just the art style.
    - Misa being so small and saying sweet would make her fat, continuing to model and her clinging ness to Light. Maked her seem like she had been very dependent on her parents who treated her like a doll/money maker. With her parents gone she had not one to 'use' her. Thus she clung to Kira.
    6) When she first appeared before Light, she said that she had taken care of a 'Freind' of hers that helped her make the tapes then never mentioned again. Probably killed.
    - I think this 'friend' was a loner who had misa as their only a friend and was willing to do anything for her.
    7) After the time skip, Misa is still with light and even tries to seduice him in a frilly pink thing that doesn't even catch his attention... yet the other men in the room react to seeing Misa in so little... Also misa's more adult wardrobe looked more Adult and less Lolita. Light telling her how to dress or is she trying to imtate the women she thinks Light likes.
    - I mean seriously! The two MARRIED men gocked at her but light didn't even turn around! He's eather Gay or Asexual, my money is on Asexual.

      @sebastienaguila2107 Před 9 měsíci +16

      2) she was supposed to die... that's exactly why the shinigami decided to intervene. he was in love with her and dreaded that day because he knew it was coming because of her lifespan that he could see. it's in the anime.
      4) also explained in the anime. the lifespan indicates the real time of death, whatever the cause may be, not only natural causes. I'll redirect you to my point above, the Shinigami knew she was gonna die, even though she was meant to be murdered, because lifespan shows real time of death, whatever the cause including murder, sickness, natural distater or self deletion. the only cause of death that can't be seen ahead would actually be death by death note...
It is often better with supernatural stories not to look too deep into it. If you take a second to think about it, it's not very hard to shatter death note's plot into a million pieces, as too much makes strictly no sense.

One of 4 things has happened to Misa after the end:
    1. Near killed her with the Death Note out of pity or hatred
    2. She's being held captive and monitored by the task force
    3. She's living life alone and depressed unable to do shit about it
    4. She relinquished ownership of the notebook, forgot about being Kira, and eventually stopped mourning Light and is living a normal life
For anyone wondering, she couldn't have killed herself. She recieved a quarter of the lifespan of 2 shinigami, meaning potentially thousands or even millions of years. There is literally NOTHING except a Death Note that can affect her lifespan. She can't kill herself with anything except the Death Note. And at the end of the series, she doesn't have access to one, since the Task Force knew she was the 2nd Kira and wouldn't let her anywhere near a notebook. So, she's either alive and doing something, or Near killed her. No other options. Even if she jumped off that ledge at the end of the anime, she would have survived. Poor Misa...

If you could see the dates of someone's death floating over their head, you could still kill shoot someone who wasn't supposed to die for another 40 years.

-It was literally confirmed by the creator that she dies one year after light.
-Nowhere in the anime or manga does it say you cannot die if you have the additional lifespan of a shinigami. It just means you get that many extra years added to your potential lifespan.
-You are confusing being immortal with being invincible. Being invincible means you are immune to damage and cannot be killed by external factors. Being immortal means you don't age and cannot die of natural factors. To live forever with no threat of ever dying you need to be both immortal AND invincible. I know they are often treated as the same in anime and other forms of media but there is a very distinct difference. As such, Misa could still be killed.
-By your logic, if you have the shinigami eyes and can see when someone is going to die, that means that person could not be killed by a death note user because they have that many more years left to live.
-Being completely invincible is such an awful idea that it would ruin the entire point of the series.

She won't kill herself, and noone else will kill her. Simple as that. Unless someone used a death note on her, she's staying alive as long as the lifespan says so.
And no, it's not a "potential" lifespan. It's the definitive lifespan. Nothing can affect it. Nothing, EXCEPT A DEATH NOTE. A shinigami or a human with a Death Note could kill her. Nothing else could though.

That's kinda the point. A-Kira tried to cheat the system, and got screwed by forces he couldn't control.
The rule was made after the fact, since the Shinigami King wants humans to *use* the Death Note to kill humans.
Ryuk told Donald Trump of the new rule, and even admitted it was last minute.
