I can’t stop thinking of how Light symbolizes many dictators in the past. They have power, an idea of a utopia, a cult following, and a god complex, but in the end dictators and their regime falls similarly to the ending.

Light was a genius, especially with in the beginning. But he got to overconfident near the end and it led to his bad judgement. That was his downfall, relying on others for too long.

It kinda sucks how ryuk, after all this time with light and light giving him apples and care, still wrote down his name while still remaining a smile. It's kinda sad, I thought of them as comrades
Honestly, Ryuk never really seemed to care for light in the sense of a comrade but more along the lines of a person watching their favorite TV show then as an equal. He just seemed to help light because it helped move the “plot” along up to its ending

To be fair with Death Note is that most things that can be talked about, have already been talked about. That's why you don't see much videos on the series itself anymore. Of course you see the videos comparing Light and L to other fictional universes a lot (Light and L in squid game, batman solving the Kira case, etc) but that's about it.

By the end light betraying his own family is the most horrifying thing about this show, it's like he's not even human at that point a total psychopath blinded by his goal of being a god.
I wonder how much thinking went into actually making this anime and how much thinking to make it last. It’s amazing this anime is still so talked about years after it’s release.
Light was selfish and stupid. You create change by doing good without anyone knowing what you did, a true hero works from the shadows, getting no recognition or admiration for his work. And permanent change of course, that stays after you die.

I believe Light seeing L before he died symbolized that he realized that he was never right, and that L was was truly right; Light was a criminal.
The show was really good, the ending could’ve been better. Still solid with great characters.
@lilselil edits mmh I think there was a ending, for Light at least haha. I enjoyed his character a lot so I was hoping to see him succeed. I ended up watching Code Geass afterwards so I got some sort of satisfaction from that.

I still like the end scene of light in the anime. At the beginning it's said, that shinigami aren't in hell or in heaven, and light laying in the middle of the stairs, is a nice symbolic ending to the series.

The shinigami eyes can kill you even if you don't have a name, they show you what you must write for it to work
According to the lifespans light had 71 more years left meaning he would’ve survived the bullet shots, near only had roughly 0.4 of a year left, they say many times that light would’ve been executed meaning if he would’ve survived for 71 more years he would’ve won if ryuk didn’t kill him
if so, then ryuk wouldve died as he extended the life of other human beings.

to be honest I think it wasn't light who was psychotic it was just the power that was given that made him evil, when he lost his memories of the death note L tried to get him to manipulate Misa so they could figure out who Kira was but Light said it went against his beliefs. But when he regained his memories he had no problems manipulating people. I think before Light found the death note he was good person with morals but the death note just destroyed that.

Light thought that L was being stupid and solved all the messages that he has sent to L , however L told him that he was wrong and that there is a 4th letter if Light assumed that there were 4 letters he would have passed but he didn`t because he already knew that the letters were 3 and not 4 .

No most people would come to the conclusion that there were only three notes since that's all they were given to exam, Ls goal was to see what Lights reaction would be after telling light that there was four notes, and Light passed this test.

@@redphantom5197 I agree but at this point L was almost certain light was kira to begin with, that "5%" chance bullshit L made up was a lie. Look at the episode where L put cameras in Light's house. L had a public announcement saying 1500 investigators were coming to Japan. Light then smiled and loudly said "the fbi sure is stupid there's no point in making this announcement, even the investigators who were secretly brought in were killed by kira, why would this be any different, if you ask me, this is just a plot to get kira to reveal himself, I wouldn't be surprised if Kira sees right through this." L watching on the camera laughed. The guy who shows no emotions laughed. So Mr. Yagami wouldn't find out why he laughed, and to prevent Yagami from suspeculating, he said it was because light is clever, but the real reason he laughed was because he figured out Light was Kira. He knew kira was somewhat smart and who had a ego to begin with, and he seen Light mock the fact that the FBI were coming into Japan, further more Light said that quote loudly on purpose so whoever was watching over cameras, (which he obviously knew they were there) could hear. Light wanted L to know hes not going to fall for something that stupid, and L figured out that light knew he was watching him, which made L almost certain Light was Kira.
