Aminata and Justs still give me goosebumps every time. But I think we are great. 🫣
2005 - yes they are doing sign language, which in my opinion was the reason they got 5th in the final, while only 10th in the semi... this was a unique thing in Eurovision. I'm pretty sure no one else has done this.
As for 2015 - if "Love Injected" represented any big country, it would've been a strong contender for win, but because it represented "only Latvia", it got 6th, which is still a good result, but deserved better...
Overall quite a few of our entries would've been higher, if they represented "better" countries... but instead for the 2nd time we're on a long NQ streak (first was 6 years in a row from 2009 - 2014, now it's already 5 years from 2017 to present..)

The problem is - in last few years, the selection for Eurovision is made as separate contest in Latvia, where people are choosing their favorite. And that's where the problem is. In first years, representive of Latvia was chosen by independent jury, those who wanted to participate, sent in their songs, and 10 were picked. Then they performed it live, and while people could vote for their favorite, their decision was only like one part of voting results. Now, people pick their favorites, bc they like, know these artists and they pick them, not the song. People who vote, don't think about how this song will stand next to other countries, the format of Eurovision. And that's why in last years our songs haven't been so strong in competition, with exception of Aminata.
@@AJ1987LVThe problem is the songs submitted for the selection. In most years the best options have been picked, but not good enough to qualify in Eurovision.
In 2023 the biggest problem was the allocation draw of the semi finals and the removal of the jury vote in semi finals. If Latvia had a better draw (let’s say having Lithuania in the same semi), it would have qualified over Serbia, which qualified mostly because of neighbouring countries and diaspora votes.
Samanta Tina is the Queen of Latvia and was robbed too many times! Both of her songs are BANGERS! & sadly the contest was cancelled in 2020, but her 2021 did not deserve to come last in the semifinal!!!
I really don't care about her, but as i remember she was robbed in 2014. It was out countries contest - Supernova, to see who we will send to Eurovision. If i'm right at the finally it was her, Lauris Reiniks and those Cake bakers. And Cake bakers won and went to Eurovision 😐
@@enemy1191it was Dons not Lauris Reiniks, with a song that could have easily qualified by getting a huge jury boost
