      Check the ON/OFF pins on the yellow dial. Remove and inspect the metal. If the two leg points that should touch and make a triangle are separated then try to bend it back into place and straighten metal. Or simply buy a replacement set of tripper pins. If you do that and the timer still by passes the set ON /OFF timer then possibly the motor that manages the time clock went bad. The metal arrow in the center of yellow dial which pints down is the marker for when setting the actual correct time of day. Take notice of this time (ex. You check it and it’s 10am) come back an hour later and recheck the timer (with the power On of course) and see if the dial has moved to the 11am hour. If it has then the dial is moving and the motor that manages the time is working, if not then the motor and timer is bad. Replace timer mechanism for new one.

    Bingo, timer failed to turn on and I found the dial jammed. Never knew the on/off trippers could be bent but that was the cause. Spent $4 for two new sets. Might add that the timer motor will fail long before the timer mechanism. You can purchase and replace the timer motor for about 1/3 the cost of a new timer. Thanks for the tip

      Update, a couple of days later the new "on" tripper bent again and jammed the mechanism. Had another Intermatic timer so I took off the yellow timer disk on both an compared expecting to find the cam broken or worn, bad spring/gear or something else with damage. Nothing was different so this time I added an ample layer of white lithium grease to the cam and the space where the trip spring is located. So far it's still running without jamming and bending another tripper. This timer is at least 15 years old and the clock has been replace once but it was never lubricated.

    • @EliteSwimmingPoolsTV
      @EliteSwimmingPoolsTV  Před 4 lety

      If you have checked both timer tripping pins and they both look good and are not bent, first check and make sure the clock is properly set to the hour it currently is when your checking. 2: make sure the yellow dial is fully retracted back. Pull on dial and release it ensuring it’s back. 3: check voltage with a voltage meter across lines and load sides of the timer. If you have voltage coming In but not going out endure the timer switch is on and recheck. If still no peer going out with timer ON, then the timer is bad. If you have both Voltage coming in and out, then check the back of the pump motor. 4: check behind the the sight hole in the upper right hand side and see if the gears are moving. If Yes, then the time clock is being managed. If No, then replace the mechanism. Hopefully this helps.

    This maybe a stupid question BUT, is the manual switch supposed to stay in the off position all the time to be working properly? I can turn on the pump with that switch but it just stays on. So, normally, should that switch trip ON when the timer is working properly and should it switch off when the timer hits the off pin?

    • @EliteSwimmingPoolsTV
      @EliteSwimmingPoolsTV  Před 3 lety +1

      Sure, remove your OFF pin and check the metal for any twists or bends. The pin should be in a triangular shape with the two points touching at the end. If they are not you can attempt to straighten the metal or simply purchase a new set at a hardware or pool store.

    • @EliteSwimmingPoolsTV
      @EliteSwimmingPoolsTV  Před 3 lety +1

      Secondly you can check to make sure the actual dial is rotating. First take notice of the current time the center arrow is pointing to. Keep the power to timer ON and check back an hour later. If the dial has moved then the mechanism which manages the time is operational.

      If your talking about the little pins that screw onto the yellow dial, then it doesn’t matter if the ON/OFF switch is on or off. Just make sure you place them correctly on the dial and not near the center arrow. If the arrow is at the position of where you like to place one of the tripper pins, you’ll have to grab dial and pull out towards you and rotate to a different position

      Have your made sure the clock dial is in fact moving around as it should each hour of day & night. If yes and timer dial rotates normally and
      If both ON & OFF pins were replaced and your timer is still not turning ON the pump, then it’s time to Replace the timer mechanism completely. Possibly the tripper which engages the ON pin is bad or damaged. Other times it’s a fault mechanism. Have it replaced out and your should be good.

      Remove and check the ON PIN. If the legs of the pin are twisted or bent then this could be one of the reasons it’s not turning ON. One other check could be to look at the timer yellow dial focus on the center silver arrow, this arrow points to the time of the clock and day. Remember what hour and minute it’s pointing at, return in an hour and check to see if the dial has moved. If it did then the dial is moving as it should and possible pin problem. If it has not moved and has stayed at the same spot after an hour has passed, then have the timer mechanism replaced. Good luck.

      @@EliteSwimmingPoolsTV Turns out that after hitting the reset button after taking out the plug and putting it into the outlet right next to the other one worked. The previous outlet looks like its starting to get fried. That's why I was worried about hitting the rest button before.

    Hey quick question--maybe a wiring thing, I hope. The timer runs but when it hits the OFF know the whole thing turns off instead of just the pool pump. It runs fine when you turn it on and keeps time till it hits off....any thoughts? thanks so much

      Hello, can you describe exactly what you mean, “ The While thing turns Off instead of pump”. What else is turning off along with pump?

  • @robnmayla6290

    Hi, I turned the pump on manually last night with the dial. And it turned off at the right time by itself. Now it won’t turn on at all , not even manually. Any tips? Thank you for your time.

      Pull timer out and turn clock by hand it could be stuck at pin

    All pins start out new and not bent....so why is the unit bending the crap out of my ON pins? There must be some kind of mis-alignment behind the clock face/wheel.

  • @tracysrocket
    @tracysrocket Před 3 lety +1

    Most of the time the trip gear behind the dial is broken or worn down. New pins won't help.

    Just installed new Intermatic timer Model T104R for pool pump. It comes on when clock hits on pin and clock continues running but when it hits the stop pin pump turns off but clock stops as well. I replaced off pin twice with new off pins but same thing happens, clock stops when dial reaches the stop pin. Any suggestions?

    • @EliteSwimmingPoolsTV
      @EliteSwimmingPoolsTV  Před 3 lety

      Ok. So if this is the case, then how does the clock hit the ON pin the next day if the dial doesn’t move through out the OFF hours of the clock? Make sure that once the timer hits the OFF PIN and shuts off the pump it’s still moving. You can do this by checking and taking note of the hour the center arrow is pointing at and coming back 1 hour later. If it has moved then your fine if it doesn’t then the mechanical motorized mechanism behind the timer has failed. This mechanism is what managed the dial rotation and time of the clock.

    • @EliteSwimmingPoolsTV
      @EliteSwimmingPoolsTV  Před 3 lety

      Make sure your connection on the 1 & 3 LINE side of the clock is tight. The 1 & 3 terminals is where the motorized mechanism is wired to. Also make sure the contacts do not have any debris, ants or other crud stuck between or around these contacts.

      Sometimes you want to just fill in the pool and be done with it.
      - leaks occurring in the pool concrete lining
      - timer problems
      - leaks in the pool plumbing pipes at the pump
      - leaks in the pump motor housing
      - "you want to charge me how much for monthly pool service?"
      - cost of chemicals
      - liability risk
      - and we use the pool how often?
      Sometimes you just think "next time this pool needs resurfacing, I'm filling it in. Enough is enough."
      Type of deal.

      Sometimes the age of the pool is a factor. Not knowing how old your pool is, but age is a factor. Sometimes the old pool has to be demolished and a new one constructed.

      The timer model for a 115V electrical system is T101M, for a 230V is a T104M. Make sure your electrical box itself does not have any holes exposed to the weather and outside elements and critters/animals/ants.

    hey! i have this exact timer and i have it set to automatically start at 10 am and stop at 7 pm. the only issue i have is that when i want to go into the pool at 8 pm and i turn the switch to on it only runs the pump for about 10 minutes and then it shuts off. can you explain how to fix this? thanks

    • @EliteSwimmingPoolsTV
      @EliteSwimmingPoolsTV  Před 3 lety

      Ensure that the OFF pin is screwed down at the 7pm hour line on timer dial. Analyze the dial, in the center you’ll see a silver arrow point down from center of dial. This arrow is how and where to set the current hour of day. Check to make sure clock is properly set to correct hour if day. When you go to turn On pump and the Off pin is just a few centimeters to right of center silver arrow once dial rotated to off pin it will shut off pump. Each hash mark on dial is a 15 minute increment of time.

    hi sir my intermatic doesnt work at all. I can only turn it on and off by the breaker. Does that mean the motor burnt out? will I have to replace the whole assembly

    • @EliteSwimmingPoolsTV
      @EliteSwimmingPoolsTV  Před 4 lety

      If you are having to turn on/off the pool pump by the breaker, this may mean the clock managing motor has stopped working or that the contacts may not be making great contacts or the dial itself could be stuck.
      Turn the breaker On, check the time on your watch or mobile phone when you turn breaker on and compare it to the time the clock is marking and allow the pump to run for about an hour. Example, let’s say the dial is marking 2:00pm this would be shown by The middle silver arrow in the center of the yellow dial pointing at the 2:00pm line. Allowing the pump to run for an hour, the dial should rotate to 3:00pm. If it does not rotate then it’s possible that the motor has failed or that the dial itself could be stuck,wedged, or corroded. Ensure that both line and load contacts are receiving the proper voltage. Line side will have direct electrical current from breaker, load side will receive power once the toggle lever is switch to On.
      Once you’ve checked these areas if it still persists then replace the mechanism and hire a licensed pool contractor or electrician if you need assistance.

    If you have a Lennar pool with a Rubber Spa button on the side. It can override your timer. Thee are the 4 positions/Modes:
    1. Respect the Timer
    2. Override the Timer & turn the filter on.
    3. Spa bubbles ON
    4. Spa Bubbles ON cool-down mode
    Next position is back to 1. Which turns off the bubbles and back to respecting your timer settings.
    Check this setup.
