      I knew a dude who worked at a Texaco station in the early 80s. He forgot to torque a customer's lugnuts one time. They got out on the highway and their wheel came off, caused a major wreck, and the insurance investigators figured it out. The dude got fired, I don't femember if they got sued or not. One time (also in the early 80s) I got stopped and harrassed by some mall security wanna-be cops, and while the one was at my window giving me a hard time about nothing, the other one was loosening my lugnuts on my driver's side rear, my buddies in the backseat busted him. Dirty bastard, he could've caused a wreck. (I reckon that was what he was attempting to do.) Nowadays there would be all kinda legal ramifications. Back then, we just got revenge by stabbing all their tires.

    For the few viewers who dont know;
    The 2001 silverado that lags in Drive likely has low trans fluid and is slipping. If you deal with it right away, it’s usually not a huge deal. Check for leaks, repair leaks, replace the lost ATF.
    If you fail to address the issue, you will eventually need a rebuild or to junk it.

They're just random employees they assigned to garage duty that day. I distinctly remember hearing one guy asking another guy a serious question, he didn't understand why people keep coming in for oil changes when they already have oil in the car. He honestly thought you "used up" the oil you had before refilling.

    0:30 when I was learnign car mechanic in late 80's germany, after the first year there was a test of abilities learned so far. it also tested how much you got taught by your parent auto shop. so I came to that old Opel and had to take the front wheel off and diagnose tyre, wheel, and brake condition. it started out with the wheel nuts beign put on backwards by the previous apprentice, continued with the wheel been put on wrong (Opel saw fit to put a little bolt onto the hub fitting a little bore in the wheel, so you'd put it on in same position always. it was only this model they did it), so it was already warped. I diagnosed all that properly as well as the brakes, and tightened the lugnuts with the correct torque. tester was satisfied and waved me through quickly. (I have to add the first of three years learning was mostly sitting at the school, but you always had days off you were working at your auto shop to see the practical side of things. too bad if they only let you wash cars and swipe the floor...)
    3:14 BMW seems to have had problems with the crank pulley's silencer rubber insert, which can break away over time. had it with an older X5 one time. it made a lot of noise, and you could see the pulley running uneven. as I went to cut the engine, the pulley broke off for good, snapping the belt. without the engine running in idle the pulley could have shot away into where it shouldn't run into, including my stupid facade... customer was driving around with that noise for a while. :P

    If Walmart put that customers tires back on that car with with the lugnuts backwards they hundred percent did that on purpose. They did that totally intentionally to try to get the customer to come back and have more work done to their car that they don't need.

      I don't think so, it'd be pretty obvious who's done it and Walmart aren't going to intentionally risk killing people in a hope for repeat custom due to their own bungling.

    I'm not a fan of vehicle inspections. But I'm starting to think that it might be needed. The only problem is, my vehicle is never going to be considered safe by a by the book inspector. I know it's safe. It's not right. But it's not dangerous either.
    I still say people should have to take a vehicle basics course before getting a license. If you know how a car works. You're more likely to get it checked out when you know something isn't right

      Most civilised countries have an annual vehicle inspection required by law. Your vehicle fails and it's off the road until it passes. Just as it should be.

    All these sh*t box cars - but not one of them an EV. Interesting. SO many of these failures are on components that an EV doesn't even have!

      Almost like the amount of EVs on the road is about 2% that of ICE cars and they are all fairly new....
      EVs have plenty of failure points, and its very likely none of them could be fixed anywhere besides a brand specific shop.
