The audacity of these people is unbelievable. I'm glad the artist blocked the person rather than apologizing, as the apologies just encourages these guys.
There was a post for Japanese artists some time ago giving advice to Japanese artists on how to deal with western wokeness and toxicity on Twitter. Part of the advice was to never apologize.
I don't blame Japanese Artists getting tired of this crap. In fact it's because of these woke idiots that other countries see us as smug. It's disgusting.

I seriously hate how there's a whole culture around "fixing" art. If I drew something and posted it on social media, and had some self-righteous douchebag change my creation, I'd feel greatly insulted.

If that lady "fixing" art would have just drawn her own interpretation and didn't scream about it then it would be fine. The problem is basically defacing pre existing art. Like anyone can draw the mona lisa however they want but it would be insulting for them to go to the original and deface it then say there fixed it as if she is the authority on how art should be. Different interpretations are fine but defacing pre existing art and claiming it's fixed is ignorant and disrespectful.
"fixing" people's artwork is so toxic and so patronizing, it's something that really needs to die. It's one thing to want to draw a character as a different ethnicity or gender out of curiosity, but it's something entirely different to take someone's own work, tell them it's wrong and "fix" it

It really is, isn’t it? It’s also insulting to the artist’s intelligence, like they have to have the concept of other cultures spoonfed to them. I’m an artist, and I’ve already had people “correct” me on my women having visible abs, and I’ve said “listen, you might like it one way, but I like it this way. It’s my say in the end.”
You start to wonder who they think they are and how issues pertaining to groups they are not a part of make them believe they have jurisdiction to decide for someone else how they feel. It’s ironic here, seeing as it was a white person patronizing an Asian person about their perceived lack of knowledge on black people. This is, unfortunately, what keeps minorities under a political identity.

I’ve a friend in Brazil who says pretty much any real Latino finds the term “Latinx” patronizing and racist. It assumes that they don’t know what to call themselves and the progressive white society will teach the “savages” how to act. I’m trans myself and I find it not helpful to creating a world less obsessed with strict gender norms.

Just because he’s voiced by Idris Elba in a movie doesn’t automatically make Knuckles “black-coded”. He was voiced by Dan Green (a white guy) in the English dub of _Sonic X._ and both actors were nearly perfectly suited for the role.

The funny part is that she is claiming that the people who are criticizing her are racists, when she's using the most sterotypical arguments to consider Knuckles a "black-coded character".
It's not surprising, since the ideology that comes from is cultural Marxism, which is very much based on identitarianism. It's very fucked up and is not only being taught in colleges now, but is also being taught in 'sensitivity training' nowadays in workplaces and government.
Note; sensitivity training used to just be about learning your coworker's personal boundaries and trying to avoid disrespect or harrassment. As a artist, “fixing” someone’s art is one of the most hurtful things you can do. Not only does it kind of damage your personal image, but it’s just fucking stupid.
I mean.. if that pearl (harbor) just gave his/her own take on it, that'd be debatable. But saying the art is fixed, is just being an asshole - in which case: I hope the backlash was intense, because it's the only way to teach these idiots.
It is not fixing it is making it politically correct. This isn't the only case where they do it .There are artists whose style have women with thinner waists ,broader hips and cleavages ,and since it is a art style and most of them don't look bad I don't see any problem but people on twitter will just take their artwork, make waist big ,make hips shorter and remove cleavages even where they are obviously there and them call it fixing like they somehow made the artwork better

The "editor" as you imply the person to be explicitly stated *"fixed"*, not "edited". This fundamentally creates a non-ambiguous statement of belief that the "editor" saw a problem with the artist's work. "Correcting" is just a sugarcoated insult.
There is nothing transformative of the edit other than a pointless detail as the artist (not the "editor") merely changed one thing out of the entire artwork and thus could be considered plagarism (at worst) or a derivative work (as extremely little details were changed). It's not art at all.

While this is true you should then take the time to also make the proportions and your own style so it looks like you put actual effort into it as well. Or else people going to mistake it for one of two things. Tracing and just recolored it. the issue isn't about the color of human knuckles' skin. the issue is that Pearl called it shit because of the skin color, then recolored and reposted another artist's drawing. this is beyond disrespectful in a way that has nothing to actually do with the character's race.

The issue is the skin color of knuckles lol Or part of it is. The artist drew their own interpretation of a human knuckles and there was nothing wrong with it. they were even consistent with his characters “skin tone” (his mouth area) by making him a bit more tan than Sonic. There’s pretty much no reason to draw human Knuckles with such a dark skintone because literally nothing about his original character design supports that.

I'd say you could learn this in just about 2 years with zero experience with drawing. Took me 5 years to actually be able to draw decently, but I didn't draw that much during those 5 years. Mostly playing games on the computer. But during the last 2 years I've been drawing a lot.
