The worst part is she truly just only wanted credit. She didn’t tell them to take it down (which she totally would’ve been justified in doing) or was even rude. It can understand sometimes forgetting to credit people but when the person directly comes to you... how hard is it to just give credit?

update of 08/08/2021: i had mcdonalds yesterday, it was pretty good. they didnt give us a cheeseburger we ordered and gave me a ketchup, onion and gurkin burger. we got refunded, overall had some issues but some great mcdonalds
update 3 months later: I got mcdonalds again we went through the drive thru this time and it was delicious
been getting mcdonalds a lot the past 7 months or so because my dad died , had some this morning (16/05/2022) i ordered a mcchicken without lettuce but they put a single drop of mayo on it so i just decided to not eat it, a regular cheeseburger and ten nugs with a coke, i also bought my brother some too. it was pretty tasty but the mcchicken kinda let me down.
update of 04/06/2022: had mcdonals yesterday i got cheeseburger small fry and 9 chicken nuggets and i ate it all it was good

Update: He became active again, now putting a lot of Stupidity around like accusing the artist (to whom he don't want to credit for their art) of being homophobic, asian baiting etc., asking a lot of people to report them, he stole more of the Artists' art claiming it's his artwork (even though the Artists' Watermark is already obvious) and he's basically harrassing them. That escalated quickly...
EDIT: New Update as of November 19. Someone on the Comments of this thread told me that the guy who didn't even credit the artist then later harrassed her FINALLY GOT TERMINATED. Tried to check that out and to my surprise, I can't even retrieved his stupid tweets on his profile... He really got terminated. I hope he won't come back ever again.

As an artist, it's literally not that hard to just put the owner of the art in your bio. We work hard for our art, minutes to hours of drawing each piece. Giving credit is so easy and takes no effort.

Actually, it doesn't matter if it is "just a stupid piece of pixels," what matters is that Yona created it, making asking to be credited a perfectly reasonable request. This applies to all art and, in fact, there are things that can be done to stop people who refuse. Using an artist's works and not giving credit is already bad enough and does say something unpleasant about the person doing it, but when the artist then comes over and politely asks for credit where it is due and the person refuses, that says some VERY bad things.

To speak for them, as this is common with me, they may look at Google Images, take whatever image is there that they like, and use it as pfp material; and people can change their pfps very often. It's not that big of a deal though, since you aren't really "profiting" off of the artist's work. I'd say people don't necessarily _need_ to credit the artist in terms of pfps until asked for it.
It'd be a whole different beast if we were talking about a CZcams video or the like. _That's_ when you really need to credit the artist.

Just because you’re different than everyone doesn’t mean you should invalidate their feelings. What’s not cool is you thinking that it’s not ok that this artist was upset. They weren’t rude, they were being kind in fact. Would you want a “fan” who acts like they’re all high and mighty and that your art sucks? Maybe you would, but others don’t.

Twitter's a necessary evil though. Most Twitter users will immediately swarm to a trending tag if it's interesting or controversial enough. It's the only way you can really get CZcams to do shit, for example. And as soon as people with millions of subscribers get alerted to it, and start spreading the info, CZcams starts to panic. Why? Cause of the trending tag on Twitter.
So while it is pretty shitty, there are reasons to keep it.

Sometimes, it's an innocent mistake. You find the picture online, in a search, and have no idea what the source is. But when the artist pops out of nowhere to ask for credit, then just give credit dammit. It takes zero effort.

I don't think it is the most constructive thing for artists to do, in terms of going around finding people who are using their art and being like "hey credit me." As a writer myself, I would rather quotes and so forth be attributed to me when they can. But, if someone were to say, have an unattributed quote in their bio that was from me, I wouldn't care too much. I've got more writing to do, better things to do with my time.
But, if someone were to try and pass off said quote as their own or misattribute it, then I'd might say something. My point being: the Internet is the creative commons. One of the risks you will have to live with is people forgetting to credit people for their work because they are busy doing other things. I think the matter of whether or not someone should credit an artist upon approaching them is a purely individual thing that they need to evaluate for themselves. Otherwise, let it be.
Otherwise, here's a thought: because artists and writers both are inspired by people, do we need to credit every single potential inspiration for our art or writing whenever we produce a piece? It's not a tennable solution from a philosophical or practical standpoint. And I think getting petty over crediting people, whether artists or writers, whether it is the one being asked to credit someone or someone asking for credit, is not worthwhile.

@@chatboulon743 What they did is wrong, but you can't exactly deny access to your artwork by some people or others. It will be used how it will be used, and we will have to deal with that, just as writing for writers (I'm a writer myself) is sometimes misattributed in terms of intent or used in manners the author did not approve of. You can say "hey, that was rude of them to do that," but then one has to move on to bigger and better things than get bogged down by those who misuse them.

Artists should be able to sue for people stealing their artwork
Its a pfp and they are not “stealing” it they are not making any money off or claiming it as their own
So you want pretty much everyone to get sued? Almost everyone online has a profile picture of some sort. The vast majority of those people just grab a random thing they find neat and use it without a second thought, often without even knowing the source of the image. For most people profile pictures aren't even important enough to think about.
Any artist who's bothered by that should probably just save themselves the worry and keep their precious pictures off the public web.
