I am soooo proud of Ed and his lustrous career at G.M.
My Dad owned a beautiful 1972 Pontiac Granville, it brings back precious memories !

I am GMs biggest fan boy and Ed Wellburn is an idol to me. But I have to admit I'm very curious to see what the next generation of GM cars will be like under the reign of a new VP of Design.

Some company in China is going to offer him a suitcase full of money to consult and lead its design team. And he should take it.

It's not just money they offer. They also have massive facility and staff resources they are willing to give such Poached Talents. Their most impressive design house is NIO NextEV but does not suit Welburn.

@James. I swear, you made chuckle. Sad to admit that it could happen. Can't recall where I red the article; China and US fought cold war and it didn't turn out well for the United States.

Why didn't you ask him if he will green light the Avista before he leaves. That's what I need to know. Job well done Ed.

True that. One of his first cars was the Riviera. Why not go out on the car that is essentially the new Riviera?

GM is really going to benefit from new blood. They really should boot all these old guys who are paid more than enough that their kids will never have to work. Find the guys that moves up fast to be leaders due to qualifications and ideas, not the guys that takes over due to longevity after years in layers of middle management that the best companies today don't even have.

Dude if you think about GM prior to Ed and think about it now the difference is stark. He started in 2003 and his first design probably started around 07-08. Think of GM before 08 and after. This man is a legend. His last design will be the 2020 mid-engine Corvette. Takes about 4 years for the full transition to take place. He stated before that this would be his last roll out. No double this man help GM increase their quality and desirability of their product.

If he doesn't now, I hope he starts in protests against increased racism hate crimes and Nazi trolls. Know anyone who fits that description?
