    I am 42 and I am so inspired by this 21 year old kid...She is deep, clear and precise in her subject. Being a lifelong student of rock n roll, I accidently discovered Mohini 5 years back. I saw her videos then (including one where her father was jamming with her) and I knew right from the start that she would go a long way. I have literally been looking up her videos everytime I have some bandwidth, and ensure my 9 year old watches her too, just to get inspired to pick up the axe...

Look forward to seeing more and more of her playing!

    Very earnest and thoughtful girl. John Coltrane and Eric Dolphy used to talk about there musical experience when they improvised. We call it the muse, it comes from you, through you and Mohini's comments seem to me to be so spot on about this process. 'A love Supreme' was Coltrane's name for this experience. Certainly Mohini is som one to watch and I hope to see her continuing to improve her creative voice , . She seems to be on a very promising path musically and one cannot help but like her personality... !

    @22:20
    "I always follow my own style and my own sound. And here's something I believe: The most effective and transformative creations are when the individual goes deeper than the technique and the technique is mastered. A lot of people have more technique than others but it's relative because the effectiveness is based on the inspiration and quality of the work that just flows through you. You as a person, are seen through your playing. So, if your heart is not as pure as it should be, then you're going to end up spreading impurity in the music industry.
    I believe in every generation there is an evolution (of sorts) in all fields, but at certain times in history there is a sort of quantum leap- sometimes referred to as the paradigm shift. I hear that shift happening in this planet right now, everytime I hear [them] playing and [their] music. And it gives me so much joy- that people are creating awareness in this industry and that people are putting in so much effort trying to build a community that not only works for the musicians but works for the whole SYSTEM; in terms of humanity and not just musicality. And me, as a person too, when I talk to people and they tell me "I want to become a musician, I want to be a jazz artist, etc" I would always reply to them, "First, become a better person". Try to do something for nature, or your own family. Try to do something that makes you satisfied. It doesn't have to be related to music, like I said, because your efforts that you take in life are interconnected to your music. That's your voice. Music is a language like everyone says. What does that mean? When you are playing, your voice comes through."

      amandakjarman yes you zeroed right in on a pivotal statement that caught my ear also. In an age when so many young people get into music for the most superficial reasons this young lady articulated how a pure heart can transform ones music. Im 63 and african american and its taken me years to understand why I love bass so much. My generation only had records and cassettes to learn from. Now with the internet younger musicians can learn an abundance of technique but the heart and the mind and the spirit has to be there too. Because even the person with a lesser technical skill and a pure heart will communicate with greater articulation if the spirit is in you.
