Croatian midfield - by far the best in the world. Dalić knew very well how to prepare his team vs Brazil, great tactics. He knew they not gonna have many goal chances vs Brazil. They even had a meeting about how Brazilian players dive and roll over the pitch and how not to react on that. Great defense btw, amazing midfield. Btw, Croatia doesn't like to play like this, struggling in the front line but it's been like that for a while because they still can't find a proper striker. They used what they got the best - bravo!
I have no idea why everybody is calling our team old....yes, Modric is 37, but how old is Christiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, one of Portugal players (Pepe) is 40...average age of our team is 27,4...Brazil, Argentina and at least 10 more teams are older in average...yes, we don't play well during the qualification phase but we play good enough...one of the reasons is probably due to the fact that our players are not together, they play in different countries, different teams (unlike France, England, Spain and many other)...when you put them together for a longer period of time, like World Cup, they become a real team, compact and strong

There are only 3 old men in Croatian team - Modrić 37, Perišić 33 and Lovren 32 and i wouldn't even consider 32 and 33 year old players as old man ... So in every line you have just one "older" player ... thats called experience :) And if i was Dalić i wouldn't even play Lovren as he has 2 other much younger and better players in that spot - Šutalo (22) and Erlić (24) who were starters in Nations league and only France scored them 1 goal and they played 2 games against France and 2 against Denmark. i keep seeing this argument everywhere and its funny how confident people are in saying this when theyre completely wrong. when people bring up our population, its to compare it to the greats, not china or fcking india. but rather when you look at all the great footballing nations, the vast majority of them have well over 40 million residents (port,bel,ned, have 10-17mill), tie that with their facilities, footballing infrastructure, footballing culture, immigrants from african nations who end up playing for them, etc etc, and then compare that to us (croatia) and its mind blowing how we're able to compete with them once you look at everything in context.
THATS why people bring up population, especially against a nation like brazil, who have more registered footballers than we do males in our country. let that sink in lol.
