Doc, I just hit my goal of a 72 day water fast. I was going to extend my fast to 102 days but I tried to fill up and carry some flower pots today and it kicked the crap out of me.
      I'm down 101.6 pounds since March 4th.
I kind of feel like a quiter.
I started with 33 days of no carbs. I started on a 33 day fast. I extended to 42 days and then 72 days. I extended to 102 days but today scared me.
I have to stop. I hit my 72 days.
      I start refeeding tomorrow.
      Do you have any suggestions.
      I'm planning on broth.
My VA nurse didn't have any suggestions because they had never heard of anybody fasting that long.
      Do you have any suggestions?
I don't want any carbs at all.
I figure I'll eat chicken broth.

The knowledge that you share ought to be standardly taught to everyone, and it saddens me that so many people are unhealthy not because of a lack of desire or willpower, but a lack of education.

I am a success story like yourself! I have watched him pretty regularly for at least a year and a half and in that time have lost 80 lbs. He and a handful of other CZcams doctors and authors have convinced me of the truth of low carb eating because I have seen the change in my body and in my hunger levels. I agree with you about the lack of education. When our own government is still recommending much higher carbohydrate consumption than is likely healthy it is a matter of education and not just willful laziness. I think a lot of people buy food according to the food pyramid and become frustrated that they are still overweight even when they are doing the "right" thing by the governmental standard. What people fail to understand is how that standard came to be and how much lobbying goes on by the different segments of industry it represents. I am thankful to have stumbled upon Dr. Ekberg when I did.

My endocrinologist wanted to start me on Metformin, but I told her I would lower my BG through diet. She said, "Most people can't! I replied, " I am not most people!" lol I paid attention to your guidance/videos used IF and very, very low carb/no sugar ...and June 2023 my A1C is NOW ...5.9! Thank you for helping me to be a Health Champion!!...my liver enzymes are a bit high, and my thyroid level is low..but I will continue my education to address that next. I purchased Euvexia on auto-delivery and will try a 36 hour fast next. You have helped me to turn my health around!! Thank you!! 1:15: 🔥 The burning of fat during intermittent fasting is a complex process, with fat being a major source of fuel for the body.
3:53: 📊 The video explains the dynamics of glucose in the bloodstream and the potential dangers of high blood sugar levels.
8:14: 🔥 The body has mechanisms to regulate glucose levels, but excessive glucose can be excreted in urine as a safety mechanism.
12:35: ✅ The body prefers to use fat as its primary source of energy, but can also use carbohydrates and proteins.
17:30: 🔥 In a low-carb, high-fat diet, the body burns fat instead of carbohydrates for energy, resulting in stable energy levels and reduced hunger.
21:43: 💡 The body can produce glucose through gluconeogenesis from non-glucose sources such as glycerol and proteins, but it prioritizes using fat stores for energy before resorting to protein breakdown.
25:31: ✅ Eating fewer carbs and fasting can help the body burn more fat and control insulin levels.
29:22: ! The body has ways to manage hunger and fasting can be easier than people think, especially when adding electrolytes and fluids.

I reversed my prediabetes and also what my physician had determined as a slightly high grade of liver enzymes (compared to previous year).

So I've been watching Dr Ekberg's videos for about a month learning about food and mentally preparing myself to try omad fasting for two weeks. Week one straight omad no problemo. This week (week 2) I omad for 3 days, then I had a 41 hour fast from Thursday evening until I got hungry Saturday (yesterday) around 1 p.m. then I ate again today (Sunday) at 3 p.m.
    Wow, thank you Dr Ekberg.

For 4 weeks weeks now, I have been watching your videos 30 minutes before bed every night to get me educated AND keep me motivated to IF and OMAD. I am also following ALL of your steps in ALL of your videos. I have lost 15 fat lbs in 4 weeks and hope to keep this up until I have lost 45-50 fat lbs. Fasting for 18 hours was much easier than I thought it would be. Fasting for 24 hours is getting easier. I am looking forward to my first every 48 hour fast starting today. None of this is easy because I was ALWAYS IN FEAST MODE. BUT I have not cheated once since deciding to make this lifestyle change.

Thanks for all the information. I took off 27 pounds with intermittent fasting. A year ago, I had a bike accident that resulted in a TBI that didn't show up until 8 weeks later. Unfortunately, I put about 17 pounds back during my recovery and was struggling to get back to where I was before the accident. I was having trouble controlling my hunger, but thanks to your videos I was able to get back on track. I think the important thing is that this is a lifestyle change. It takes willpower and patience. I also follow your recommendations for exercise, especially HIIT. I supplement that with the core exercises you mentioned in another video, plus some TUT workouts with dumbbells. BTW I turn 70 this fall. Most people I meet think I'm much younger than that.

Thanks to your advice I have now lost 3 stone (42lb) and I've never felt better.

i completed my first 48 hour fast and i broke it with a small salad then went for another 24 hour fast. It took me about 1 month of 18-6 fasting with acv/lemon squeeze before every meal and trying to lower my carbs to 20-40g a day... i feel like i changed my gut biome and i wasnt even hungry or in pain. I did drink a little bit of this beta caretoene lemonade sugar drink tho after... and a kilbasa sausage and i think the antibacteria in the meat or the sugar drink threw off my gut biome b/c something hit me really hard after that last fast and i was the hungriest ive ever been since i started this fasting stuff.

@@drekberg Before watching your videos I looked at fasting as impossible/not reality, but once I dropped the carbs everything changed. Hunger went from an overwhelming force to a momentary feeling that quickly went away after 5 mins. One thing I would share is It is almost impossible for people who eat normal American diet to grasp that cutting almost all carbs out cuts hunger, because they've never went without carbs. Cutting carbs is akin to unlocking a door you never knew was there.
