Every time Stellantis (or even Fiat) changes power trains the sales drop. When they forced the hybrid system on the 3.6 sales dropped. When they did the 4E at Jeep sales dropped, when they switched to 4 cylinder turbos at Jeep sales dropped. Why would this be any different?

With EV’s the definition of a muscle car will just refer to its aesthetics.
For example, it looks like a muscle car, so it’s a muscle car.
Because without V8 engines what can you base it on?

The EV from Dodge is heavier than the competition, slower top speed, and has less range than the competition. Nobody is buying EV's to float a company successfully. If this is what Dodge thinks will carry them into the future, then they may as well sign their death warrant now. Nobody wants anything called "muscle" attached to an electric battery as the motor itself. Dodge needs to save face and scrap the idea entirely; come out in a press release saying "April fools" because this and the inline 6 cannot possibly sell like the previous iterations of the Charger/Challenger. If they feel justified in selling a six plus thousand pound vehicle, they at least could have justified it by releasing a Charger that actually looks like a classic 68.

Yes, I can see it now. From Dodge, the leaders in American Amperage, comes an exciting new line of Battery Brawlers. Introducing the Hi-Volt Viper. The Dodge Super Charger. And, of course, The Climate Change Challenger, Seriously, though, how did they not call it the Super Charger? How about we call this category of cars, Watt Wheels. Maybe, Vegan Muscle Cars? Tofu Muscle? I can't believe it's not muscle cars? Instead of the old "Hey, That thing got a Hemi?" commercial maybe it can now be, "Hey, that thing got a big electron based propulsion system?" Now, from a certain point of view performance EV's and the original muscle cars have one big thing in common. Straight line performance and little else to justify calling them sports cars. However, I'm not sure anyone has made an honest muscle car other than maybe Dodge since the early 2000's. Even so the latest Challengers and Chargers somewhat went around corners well enough to at least be deemed as wearing a short sleeved shirt not a muscle shirt. But I agree with you, Dave. No EV will ever be a muscle car. So, I'm offering up Watt Wheels, Battery Brawlers, Particle Accelerators, Lithium Lords, Atom Smashers, DC Dragsters, Breaker Box Bruisers or Light Riders! I'm partial to Battery Brawlers and Watt Wheels myself.

Enthusiasts want gas, hi horsepower vehicles. They don’t care about MPGs. People that love electric vehicles want the gas savings and aren’t that interested in performance or looks. That leaves Dodge in a bad spot with these. Not really appealing to either side. My guess would be that the gas version will sell better. 6:43
