Honestly this is still a favorite pedal of mine. It’s inexpensive, compact and has all the sounds most players actually want/need without any of the weird stuff you probably will never use.
true...thanks for sharing
I have had the Atlantic on my board for about a year. I am still learning.
My aim is to make ambient music. I also run an MXR Carbon Copy in front of the Atlantic for some dreamy ambient style sounds.
This is a nice teview of the Atlantic. I have no regrets putting it on my board.
That's great...I love ambient stuff!
Hey Garth, do you experience any issues running this pedal for long periods of time? I have a NUX Optima Air for my acoustic but after about an hour it starts making lots of white noise and hum. I went back to NUX about it but they don't know why it's doing it (they say at least) and wouldn't do anything to resolve it so I'm a bit concerned about buying NUX again.
@Garth I think that for ambience you'd need a more versatile delay. To model a "room", you need control over pre-delay (the size of the room).
@@joanarling Joan, I think for what I'm after, reverb is more important right now. The delay on the Atlantic seems fine for now. To that end, I purchased a Walrus Audio Slo. The combination of sounds I can get is enough for now. I don't have budget for the real high end gear, so doing it one piece at a time. If I do decide to upgrade, Strymon El Cap is high on my list.
Thanks! I purchased this pedal after watching this!! It’s awesome!
Glad you like it!
I always like seeing a budget board build. If we’re honest, in a mix very few would be able to notice any difference at all. Nice review Jimmy.
Thanks man! I agree
I never had one of those reverb and delay pedals so I'm expanding my knowledge about it. I get the reverb and delay effects on my multi effects such as Cube Baby and Mooer GE100 and this kinds of videos really helps me alot. gotta save up for this ambient pedals :>
I know man! Takes a while to save sometimes!
These are only 150 though and has a lot to offer like the 300-400 dollar one
I just realized that your voice is so much similar to Peter McKinnon! I can barely tell the difference if I close my eyes and listen.
Hope and pray that your channel will also grow like peter’s.
Wow, thank you!
Been playing rhythm and lead on church for years using a Boss ME-70 multi. In 2019 I started building my first board. I’ve listen to, played, watched many reviews of many pedals. Your channel has helped me make decisions. This pedal is about to go on my board and replace my current reverb. I’m gonna keep my DD-8. Maybe get some fun double delays.
amen!!
The setting at 13:38 sounds really nice...
That was my favorite part too!!
I'm not a worshipper but thanks for your channel....it's great!
Thanks man i'm also in the music ministry in our church. I'm Trying to start building my pedal setup. Thank you for this video
Amazing pedal! I have it on my guitar, literally! 😂
Rock on! Like taped to your guitar??
I want this pedal sooooo bad for my church setup. I've been trying to find a combo pedal for over a year now that has everything I need.
I had a danelectro corned beef and a TC Electronic Flashback and they both stopped working. So all I have is a self-built/recovered delay pedal and my amp reverb.
It's just not the same...
I'll probably have to keep saving up for this pedal but pennies make dollars I guess...that or wait for God to bless.
Thank you for this review video, Take care!
A very thoughtful and comprehensive review, I’m a bit put off by some of firmware issues in the comments but other than that it looks like a great pedal. Great channel too, subscribed!
Just found your channel today as I ponder purchasing this pedal. I have NUX OptimaAir but I don't use the IR section and the preamp EQ is not quite versatile enough for me. However, the OA does have a really nice reverb. I am considering the Atlantic for the combo effects and multiple reverb types. Subbed!
At some point, you should do a review of the NUX mini studio. I’m curious to see how it sounds for only $90/$100
For real....I haven't even checked out their mini pedals yet!
Yes it's working now!
Yes! and I'm glad it does! :)
Its better than the halo delay for less than half the price
agreed
Will say - I bought the NUX Atlantic. After about 3 months, it started humming - and it hasn't stopped! Nothing I do makes that extra noise go away, so I'm not using it anymore. Too bad, becuase before the extra noise happened it sounded pretty good. Hopefully no one else has that problem with NUX pedals!
Update - I fixed it! I was finally able to do the firmware update, and it worked ... and the noise went away. So all good now!
That wouldn't be good in the middle of a set. If it started happening. Has it happened again after that
@@crackedblackpepperandrocksalt after I did a firmware update, it stopped for a short while ... but then it started up again. So - not on my pedalboard anymore!
@@DavidLeeKing thankyou for replying. Yes the firmware updates are a red flag 🚩 for me. Just wondering have you tried a Sonicake Levitate Reverb and Delay pedal? I was for buying one, but I don't believe it has true reverb, still very dry even tho when maxed out. The delay is really nice though!
I use an Avalanche Run and a Fender Marine Layer Reverb together. Talk about lush!
There's far too many to choose from. These pedals were also on my list : El Capistan, Timeline, Bigsky, Hall of Fame 2. You tried any of them?
@@crackedblackpepperandrocksalt haven't tried any of those! I have the Line6 Echo Park and the DOD rubberneck, which are both cool. Also a cheapo Caline basic delay, which is pretty nice. I had the JHS Pink Panther for a while but sold it - just didn't like it. Would love to try a Strymon someday!
Nice review, I'm looking at getting back into electric guitar after a 20 year hiatus. I love the sounds a delay and reverb pedal can bring but the combos usually cost twice as much.
The real question is where do I get that hat with a curved brim? 😮😊
Dude! You so rock...Awesome on pedalboard build and giveaway...
Thanks man! You ROCK!!!
That Atlantic Delay / Reverb sounds good and $150 is a very fair price. But if someone were to buy The Atlantic ($150), the Dual Delay Engine ($150), and the Solid Studio ($200), the cost would be just $100 less than an HX Stomp, which obviously offers much more. One at a time, they are worthwhile though.
Great point! There will also need to be some kind of preamp run into the Solid Studio. Thus making the Stomp (especially a used one) a much better value. These are great value for the money if someone just needs one of the pedals.
The first time I head an acoustic guitar played through a Nux pedal it had this amazing organ like shimmer that happened when the guitar player pressed down on the hold pedal. this review seemed to overlook this function entirely.
I know! I totally looked over that and then gave it away before I made another video
thanks for the spanish subtitles, great video!!
you're welcome!
I'm curious as to how it behaves with distortion, or before various OD or TS pedals. Hmmm Impressive unit for those on a dime.. I wonder if there's infinity if the feedback pot is dimed. Then I can do hotrods shifting gears and space alien diggs! LOL
thanks for this demo, I bought it.
Hope you enjoy it!
@@HeyWorshipLeader Yes. I love it.
I owned this pedal and I just couldn’t get it to sound right with my rig. I ended up getting a ehx oceans 11
@Anthony Townsend That's definitely not true. It can run in stereo, but that doesn't mean it was designed only to run on stereo. That would be about the dumbest business decision they could make, alienating the mass majority of people that don't use two amps, especially live.
Very god efeck . Wow wow i love it
You didnt demo the "Shimmer"
I know! I hate that I forgot to do that...and now the pedal is gone :(
the smart switch feature is exactly what I've been looking for. I love it.
What do you think about playing this through an acoustic?
Yeah, acoustic would be great as well!
Would be a banger if stereo
maybe you can give it to me for the church her is Philippines.. as of now i am learning about guitar
Yes yes i have One ❤
I've been enjoying your content (subscribed) and feel you should probably know the fallowing (honestly, I didn't know either and did a couple reviews on some joyo R stuff).
"To be within FTC guidelines, CZcamsrs must disclose who they are working with when they post sponsored content. If CZcamsrs participate in a brand deal, product placement or receive a free gift, they must clearly disclose it to their viewers within the video's description."
You want to cover your butt man. This is 100% sponsored content (free gift). In fact you even contradict yourself at 1:15 and even say "sponsor one more pedal." You may be covered by having said it but it's honestly just easier to tag the video with it.
It's good that you are disclosing how you feel about it, but cover your rear man. Click that tick box that says this is sponsored content. You can even go back and do old videos. It's a nice feature available to youtube content creators and it keeps your audience in the know.
Thanks man!
I was under the impression that most people put Delay after Reverb, I caught flack for that in my comments on my Pedalboard build video lol
haha...yeah...it's trial and error
Nice review. 👍
Thanks!
Hi everybody, thanks so much for your video. I really enjoyed it and I am thinking about getting one of these pedals for my board as well. What I couldn't find out so far is whether it is possible to split the delay from the reverb completely and send them to one of the stereo outputs or the other. I'm running my pedal board with a switcher/looper so is it possible to, lets say, send the left output to loop 1 for a delay effect and the right output to loop 2 for a reverb effect and call them separately with the looper? Has anyone tried that?
Oh...good idea...but Idk...and I don't have the pedal anymore to try...but if you find out...let me know
Are dotted eighth notes achievable with this pedal ? Thanks
yes!
@@HeyWorshipLeader many thanks
I buy this pedal yesterday because i see this pedal demo on CZcams, and how the people comment worship this pedal sound, but.., when i buy it, im really dissapoint.., why nobody tell the truth about this pedal sucking so much tone, sound really drop if using this pedal, now i get hard time to sell it, in my country, we cant return the thing we buy, so hard to collect the money for buying this pedal now it been useless, sory if my english is not good.., i just hope there no one like me who buy this pedal and get regret to buy it, GOD Bless..
Great review, but how about the 'hold for shimmer' funtion?
I didn't like it and forgot to cover it but you can hear it here at about 6 minutes in: czcams.com/video/N3XfDVcQZqg/video.html
hey brother, how long did you test this? Do you experience any issues running this pedal for long periods of time? I have a NUX Optima Air for my acoustic but after about an hour it starts making lots of white noise and hum. I went back to NUX about it but they don't know why it's doing it (they say at least) and wouldn't do anything to resolve it so I'm a bit concerned about buying NUX again. The pedal sound amazing and has so many nice features.
My nux atlantic was delivered 2 days ago. It was working the 1st time i plugged it. After an hr of playing, i off’d the power supply for a bit and when i sat to try again, it wasn’t working anymore, tried again & it worked for a while, unplugged and tried but no more sound. I saw your other video & you said you experienced the same. But yours got remedied with a firmware update. So. Is that a guaranteed solution? It’s packed for a return/exchange, but if an update is what it needs, i can unbox again..
I replied in the other video as well...but I gave away the pedal so I don't know how it kept up for longer amount of time...but the firmware update worked for me.If it keep scatting up...I'd let them know
No demo on how the shimmer sound and works?
I was not a fan of it...but you can hear it in this video at about 6 minutes in: czcams.com/video/N3XfDVcQZqg/video.html
Hope I got pedals from you.. Thank you and Godbless.
Good luck next time!
Is there any tone cut while using both reverb and delay together?
not that I noticed
I think it is a trs input. Not mono?
How does the hold for shimmer work
you just hold it down and it gets applied to the sound
What's the best power supply for this?
Any good isolated power supply will work. The True Tone cs6 is great
A brand new pedal that needed a firmware update to work? Hmmmmm.
These multi-function pedals are great except you don’t have time to make all these changes during a performance so that’s it for me.
Yeah this is cool men
I was today years old the first time I heard someone say "new ex" and not "nucks".
does it have trs stereo input?
is the effects Analog or digital?
digital...has trails
Could someone pls explain what this kill drive does?
Kill dry takes away your dry tone altogether to where you only here the reverb effect...I like to do this sometimes when making ambient loops
@@HeyWorshipLeader thx,
Would be nice to compare with the flamma ekoverb
👌
Can it runs 100% wet?
yes...kind of...it can enter Killtone mode where it is in 100% wet all the time...so not like normal...kind of weird honestly
@@HeyWorshipLeader it would be useful for using as a send/return effect on a mixer, with multiple instruments/channels going through it
@@opts9 oh yeah!
@@HeyWorshipLeader haha! 👍
Sorry man, I've had this pedal for years, I just can't like it. Yes, it has lot's of features, but it's too dark and muddy, no clarity. It's also very hard to dial in, the reverb decay goes from 0-100% before you're halfway up the knob. Yes, I've done the software upgrade, it still sounds the same. My Boss VE-8 from 2016 has significantly better reverb & delay, the Nux is not even close to as good. I do have 8 Nux pedals, so I clearly like their pedals, just not this one.
How can you say "this video is not sponsored in any way" in one sentence, and less than two minutes later say to NuX "I want you to sponsor..."? I realise that you are giving your own opinion, but if NuX gave you the pedals, they HAVE sponsored the video. You actually used those words when you asked them to give you another pedal. You were paid (in pedals) to do this video. You didn't ask them to give you a pedal for nothing. You made an agreement to produce a video which contained your honest opinion, in exchange for NuX providing the pedals.
yeah... I was an idiot back then...I've learned what it means now...I used to think that it was something that was paid for in money...but I know now! Thanks for being here!
Those stupid long delays are totally useless for us working guitarists, gee sus there just has to be something better than the duh duh duh duh I am hearing here, thanks for the video, I know to leave this unit well alone lol ! 😁👍
Glad to help!
