The ironic part is when Ollie guessed “odyssey” in French to be “odyssée”, he was joking but that actually is the real translation.
Ikr?! 😂

Well he does speak French

Omg as soon as I looked in the comments, I saw this comment, at the same time they said that 😶
I swear sometimes Gabie and Ollie are the besties and Josh is the 3rd wheel. They play off each other so well and Ollie is just making Gabie die from laughter and Josh is looking at them trying to understand why its so funny for them.

"What is Poitou ?!" Ah ah, sorry, I'm french, and that one was cute !! Thanks for showing les croquants (hooome !!), Cordes-sur-ciel is a village, it was named Cordes at first, but in the 20th century, a poet gave it this nickname that letteraly means "Cordes on the sky", because sometimes, early in the morning, the valley is foggy and only the top of the hill (where Cordes lies) can be seen... As if the village was built on clouds, or... on the sky ! Google it, you'll see !!

Kinda funny how this a pretty common thing in some countries
As far as i know most north african countries which is where i grew up ,end up knowing 4 languages by the end of high school (of course at variable degrees )
It's not genius. You learn languages if you live in many contries for extended ammount of time or if you just care enough to learn. It's much easier than you think, and the more languages you learn, the easier it becomes to learn a new one.
No, not because you suddenly became genius, because you learn how to learn efficiently.

Do you know that we use "Oh là là" when we are disappointed or dismayed, much more than when we are impressed (even if we also use it in this case, French language is jolly complicated 😁)
well not as complicated as Chinese i say... we use intonations for everything... for example "fong" (actual Pinyin is "feng") can sound like/ mean "wind" or mean "crazy" or "phoenix"

Wow! Samantha took them for a little trip around France because those snacks are like regional specialties or with flavour from different Regions. They're usually named after the regions they're from, some are ingredients from a particular region. France is divided into Régions, like the US is divided into States or Canada with Provinces. Seems like some are from the brand "Reflets de France" which specialises on French regional delicacies/snacks. Here are some information of these snacks with the Region they are from: (Disclaimer, long post lol)
The two snacks flavoured with Comté and Roquefort cheese is made by a good brand called, "Michel et Augustin". I really love their cookies with chocolate and hazelnuts on the inside. _Comté_ cheese is from the historic Region of *Franche-Comté* , now it's merged with Bourgogne (Burgundy) and called *Bourgogne-Franche-Comté* . _Roquefort_ cheese is from the very south of France, around the town of Roquefort-sur-Soulzon, in the southwestern Region of *Occitanie* . If you notice, there's an abbreviation at the bottom, "AOP" meaning *_Appellation d'origine protégée_* and is similar to "AOC" *_Appellation d'origine contrôlée_* . These are French products that are protected by the French government, and you can't name or sell a product with these names unless they are directly produced and bought from these places. Other products with protection by the AOC are: Champange, Cognac, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Bordeaux wines/spirits, Emmental, Langres(my fav) and Brie cheeses, even some honey from Corsica and lambs from Somme, Picardie.
Ker Cadélac is a brand of snacks from the Region of *Bretagne* or Brittany, a peninsula in the west of France. Those look like _Palet Bretons_ , and they're pretty much like shortbread or thick butter biscuits very buttery like Madeleines. The traditional version is thicker, like small cakes.
Fine du Nord Mimolette, is flavoured with _Mimolette_ cheese from I believe the city of Lille in the northern Region of *Hauts de France* .
_Croquants de Cordes_ are these biscuits made with almonds from the small town of Cordes in *Occitanie* . Croquant means crispy and you see this word on pastries and snacks. _Croquant aux pommes: Recette de Normandie_ are apple biscuits but the recipe is from the northwest region of *Normandie* (Normandy). _Broyés du Poitou_ is a type of shortbread. It typically looks like a pie but this is probably a biscuit form of it. *Poitou* is a historic region in the southwest of France is now part of the Region of *Nouvelle-Aquitaine* (New Aquitaine). The butter from the town of Charente is often called _Charentes-Poitou beurre_ and is protected by the AOC. _Palets Bretons Fabriqués à Pont-Aven_ is a Breton buttery biscuit like the Ker Cadélac, but specifically made from the town of Pont-Aven in western part of *Brittany* Region.
_Lu: La Paille d'Or aux Framboise_ are these raspberry waffers. You can get them on any supermarket and are pretty good. "Paille"means straws and "Or" means gold, in other words, "Golden Straws". Ollie was actually close on the pronunciation of the word hehe. They're straw-looking waffers with raspberry filling.
_Pâtes de fruits Fabriqués en Provence_ are fruit pastilles made in the beautiful southern Region of *Provence* or *PACA* (Provence-Alpes-Côtes d'Azur). This is the region of the French Riviera and famous cities and towns are Cannes, Nice, Saint-Tropez, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and the Principality of Monaco.
_Bon bons au miel de la Champagne_ are honey candies from the northeastern Region of *Champagne* . Yes, Champagne wine originated here and is only produced in this region. The region is now merged with Alsace-Lorraine and is now called Région *Grand Est* .
Finally, _Pastilles du Bassin de Vichy à la menthe_ are these mint pastilles from the city of Vichy in the Region of *Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes* in central France. They're often called Pastilles de Vichy. To anyone familiar with WW2 history, Vichy was the administrative capital of the unoccupied zone of France, which was a Nazi puppet state, because the Nazis occupied Northern France, including Paris 😳 But it's also well-known for skin care lol
Thanks for reading! Hopefully you learnt something new today 😘

I'm from Luxembourg and recongnized even some of the exact brands. The products anyway (for France is our neighbour and these products are very popular here. General kittchen too). I could not agree more. French snacks are really good. I had so much fun watching. And grinning about the fancy pronounciations. And was left with a very deep craving for butter cookies. Ideally with apple. The fluffy "sablé" ones 🤤🤤🤤🤤
And the rainbow drops. Arlequin, such a classic!
3:53 When my family and I went to France a few years ago, we bought these at a local market. We literally bought packets and packets. We saved them for special occasions for ages but were really hard to stop eating when you started lol 😂
Josh: "Where has all the french snacks been in my life?"
Ollie: "In France 😏"
Ollie: "what's odyssey in French? Odyssée?"
It's misspelled in the subs but his pronunciation was right!
Also Ollie's original pronunciation of "la Paille d'or" was more accurate than Gabbie's final one lol; it's "lah pah-ee-yuh dohr". Gabbie actually initially said "paille" correctly but then got it wrong. It means The Golden Straw. And I could be wrong but I think the Champagne here refers to the city in France; so those are possibly candies made with honey from Champagne.
I'm not French but you can find a decent number of French brands (especially cookies/biscuits and sweets) sold in Quebec, not to mention the fact that we also decently reproduce or have our own versions of many French food here.
I second your pronunciation comment, however Champagne is not a city but a region :)
Poitou (or Poitou-Charentes) is a region in France. It's located in the South.
Ollie's prononciation was wrong though, he said "Odessée" and it's "Odyssée", and Champagne is a region (not official though because now it's called Grand-Est)
To me, as a Brazilian, it was particularly funny because they were all saying "pay-doh", which sounds just like the word for fart (peido) in brazilian portuguese hahahahahahha
@@jeanneraison3352 i meant with his accent it sounds pretty accurate lol. Obviously every French words they said were slightly off. 😆
Thank you so much for tasting our snacks !
but so much to discover again ! :-)
Cordes Sur Ciel is my favourite place in France 😍. I got so excited when you got to the croquantes! On our last visit we went to this amazing chocolatier and museum, and part of the tour was tasting samples... Oh.my.word. Divine, with freshly made almond croquantes 😋. In fact, I've just realised my picture is me and my son at the very top of Cordes, last year! *End of excited rambling*
No one:
Not a soul:
Not even Juno:
Ollie: Ohlolor!
It's always making me laugh and fascinating me, with beautiful accents, when strangers talk/try to talk french !! #TeamPailleD'Or
So fun to see you!!! Hello from France!!! :-)
Ollie: what's odyssey in french?
Gabbie I don't know.
Ollie: Odysee...
Me: the accent and the spelling are wrong, but yes it is odyssée. I am impressed Ollie. XD
J'adore vos réactions ! C'est incroyable
Josh, Gabbie and Ollie, I finally feel so seen! Being Greek I come from a long and proud tradition of dippers and my non Greek friends in think I’m crazy!!!
Nobody:
Ollie: "fancy shampoo bread"
Me in awe: the Alexander of analogies
Josh: "Are we sharing one cookie now?"
Well, when you have two wives...
Then in unison:
"Crumbly"
I started watching this channel just a cup of month ago and at the beginning I thought they were a couple
That's what I'm thinking. 😅 But Ollie is the first wife. 😅
I love this, you're a genius Kate
"ohlolor~" is stuck in my brain. Thanks, Ollie! My family dinner was fun when my grandpa looked up from his plate to see if I was okay😂😂
As a French, it's really funny to see these people excited and wowing at all this industrial crap that no one ever really eats here, this things are literally the kinda stuff you buy when you're going to a party as a broke student and everyone is bringing some cheap crap to eat while getting drunk ^^
You might be the exception because I just saw two other comments fangirling over the snacks. One person even typed up an essay explaining regional history
@@takvacs most of these products are industrial versions of real regional snacks. That's why it's possible to explain their history/origins.
Certes mais les sablés et Michel et Augustin sont quand même bons, nous n'habitons pas tous en Bretagne !
@@fintanandrouiz8160 exactly, thank you, the products themselves are good, but these are crappy industrial versions ^^
@@Fd4Raf ouais on est d'accord 👍
Gabie: Not sharing. Social Distancing
Them, a few minutes earlier: literally sharing every snack they had
