What! Bounty is amazing, I love it!
Dairy milk it's the first and great chocolate that comes to my MIND FIRST 🩷
Title should be changed to: British Food Finally Gets Validated for 15 Minutes Straight
It's the one thing I've seen everyone agree on that British chocolate is better than American.
@@itarry4idk about alla that, maybe if you’re only comparing like candy bars and even then I’d say it’s subjective since hersheys is one of the worst American chocolate bars lol
They're just available in uk, not all of them are uk made
We can do something right!! (In all seriousness, we do a lot right food-wise, just some things less so!!)
@@sevi9the 2 biggest brands, Cadbury’s & Galaxy are both made in the UK
When Americans say they grew up on Hersheys, it breaks my heart. I'm German and I was almost starstruck when I first held a Hershey's kiss in my hands. Imagine my disappointment when I then ate it and it tasted like dirt. :')
It's just terrible isn't it! Always wanted to try one and when I did ...😵💫
I had a friend bring back chocolate from Germany when I was in high school. She gave me a bar and my world exploded into an incredible flavor I had never tasted before. German chocolate is the absolute best. My daughter has always been a chocolate fan, but she’s mainly grown up on American chocolate. She loves kinder eggs, but t’s my dream to find her some authentic German chocolate and have her try it. If you have any recommendations of what name brand of chocolate to get and where to buy it that delivers to California, I would be ever so grateful! ☺️
i'm so sorry lmao the hershey's propaganda is insane, everything they make is complete garbage
Read the history of Hersheys and you won't ever eat it again. 🤪
We were poor so Hershey was all we could afford. Now that I'm an adult, I avoid Hershey and go for small batch local chocolate or imported.
27 years ago I introduced my American boyfriend (now husband of 25 years) to British and European chocolate. To say he was blown away is an understatement. His friend, who was on the trip with him, went back to the US and opened a British goods store in NY. I did my best to educate you Yanks!!!
Sounds like American chocolate is horrible ? Dairy milk and galaxy are excellent - mint Lindor are amazing
@@tucoramirez3333 It tastes oddly 'sour' due to butyric acid. It's part of the recipe and proportion of cacao solids and partly the preparation. In Europe we 'temper' the chocolate which changes the chemical constituency and reduces the butyric acid to almost nothing. If you have grown up with it, it's the taste you know but every one of my husband's family and friends, once they have tasted European chocolate, will never go back. Dark chocolate, over 50% cocoa , is almost unheard of in the US and the stuff they use for cooking is horrendous. Once they have some Lindt 70% they're converted!!
@@jayeclements6452 Lindt 90% and Green & Blacks 85% for me. Those two chocolates are fantastic.
@@LPeck1985 Agreed although treat yourself to a Divine 85% if you can find it - Waitrose stock it. It's got that deep cocoa flavour with an underhint of bitter that I really like. Perfect with a black coffee - dip the chocolate square for 1 second then enjoy! The Divine Mint and the one with hazelnut truffle filling are SO good....
@@jayeclements6452 Will make a note, thank you. 👍
"He just one shotted a tea cake" is the most British saying 😂
“Dairy milk virgins” got me😂😂😂

Cadbury is owned by Kraft, the same company that introduced the world to American cheese. That made me laugh.
@@Mr_Dopey Cadbury wasn't always owned by them! I doubt that the recipe has changed that much under them
Wait..they do WHAT!? 😂
I can't believe they got both Babish and the Burger Scholar in this video

I spent a year in York, next to the old Terry's factory, and the days they made Chocolate Orange always sits with me. The air was filled with most amazing chocolate orange smell - it was simply divine.
York is lovely. It has a beautiful chocolate shop to visit now that tells the story of chocolate and you get to make some
I'm from York, and I can tell you that when Rountree's was fully on the go, the smell of chocolate in the air was sublime. Back in the 80's and early 90's, you'd get the smell of chocolate from Rountree's, the smell from the sugar factory, and the smell from Terry's and Cravens. It was so intense that even Willy Wonker would've blown his load 🤣
My grandfather was a charge hand for KitKat at Rountree's, he was there all his working life. When he retired, he was given a very expensive hand crafted clock made from walnut with a brass plate that had his name and service dates engraved onto it. We still have the clock, and it's perfectly restored, working, and in mint condition. It's a piece of Yorks chocolate production history.
@@christophermunton9623: I've always thought that was a strange British Custom.
When you retire and don't have to get up early anymore, they give you a watch, or a clock.
@StevenKeery - Bizarrely enough, I've never even considered that before. It's almost paradoxical, crazy even. It's not something that employers do in the U.K anymore in fact, you're lucky if you get a card and a gift voucher.
I'm glad my grandfather got his clock, though. It's a work of art, and like I said before, it's a piece of Yorks chocolate production history.
As a British person im actually cringing at how satisfied watching this video made me feel 🫣😅❤️
same lmaooo embarrassing how high my shoulders felt watching this
Hahah same!
i have to agree
“One of these pieces and I’m satisfied. It’s not like an addictive chocolate”…not me watching being being able to polish off a whole Terry’s chocolate orange in one sitting because I had one slice 😅
I was thinking the same 😂
It;'s the same as eating a real orange though? One orange = one portion? ;)
I though wtf how can you not finish that off 😂?
Same😂 I can easily eat one in an evening!🤣🤣🤣
I came to say exactly this. WTF. It's one of the most addictive chocolates going.
“Banging with babish” 😂😂 Ollie is still going
Chocolate orange is very addictive to us Brits 😄
Seeing how much the little girl loved our chocolate made me smile.
I’m just surprised Americans don’t have Terry’s chocolate orange. I live in Canada and put these in the fam’s stockings every year.
After I tasted Cadbury's years ago I never ate Hershey's again...Put a square of Cadbury's milk chocolate or dark chocolate in your mouth and let it melt...do not chew, but savor the flavor...heaven!
Have u tried galaxy ? Another very good British chocolate bar and if u can get your hands on mint lindor u will be in heaven
@@tucoramirez3333Galaxy does mint chocolate too, it's so good!
@@tucoramirez3333 Technically they do have Galaxy in America but it's called Dove over there but probably tastes just as bad as Hershey's 😂 In the UK, Galaxy is top tier though, better than Dairy Milk I reckon
Cadbury's is decent but Milka, Ritter Sport and Lindt are streets ahead. I'm British but have to concede that some other European countries (especially Belgium and Switzerland) have the best chocolate going. I have tried some American Chocolate and wasn't impressed overall but am prepared to be convinced otherwise!
@@Wimpleman Spot on. Mondelez own both Cadbury's and Milka, so they come from the same parents. But Milka is phenomenal!

Y'all are a very insecure country.
I’m from Singapore and I grew up eating Cadbury chocolates. When my husband first brought home a bag of Hersheys 30 years ago, I almost gagged eating it because it tasted of baby’s milk vomit. I searched online wondering if I should chuck the whole bag if it’s gone rancid and found that this was how it is supposed to taste. The taste is particularly strong and obvious to people who are not used to the taste because they did not grow up eating Hersheys.
Thank you for that, hersheys has always been like vomit but now "Baby milk vomit" is going to be my go to statement for describing hersheys!
Yes this is exactly how I describe the taste of American chocolate!
One information for you guys...Hershey uses Butyric Acid in the milk to make it last longer...the vomit taste comes from that...
@@hugosequeira2997 yeah, knew that, crazy they use something that tastes like vomit! Still tastes the same on the way down and way up
I too smelt some Hersheys that our kids had bought in a sweet shop here In ireland, i first checked the sell buy date thinking it had gone off, it literally smelt like vomit, i couldnt bring myself to try it. Cant beat some lovely cadburys straight from the fridge lovely and cold, or a Terrys Chocolate Orange yummy!!
Best summary: "Its so intressting the color of your choclates are the same, right?" "Yeah, cause its real"
Yup....no junk in their chocolates.

My Dad worked in the Bournville Factory (Cadburys) in the 1950s. He had the supervisors job of stopping the production line if the moulded "Cadburys" wasn't perfect on every square.
Moving on.... my best friend bought a catering box of creme eggs (48 eggs) and ate them all. 😂🎉
I tried a Hershey bar when I was in an International School full of Americans all looking at me waiting for my response. One of the few blessed things about growing up in Canada was having British chocolate more than American chocolate, it was always Cadbury over Hershey
I also grew up in Canada and I mostly had British chocolate, Swiss chocolate and Belgian chocolate. Had some American ones as well, but not as much as the ones I mentioned.
Was gonna say the same as a canadian we have most of these. Interesting about the differences just across the border
Was thinking the same. I have eaten almost all of these
@@truevoice1002 european cadbury actually contains more coco solids and is a little creamier imo than the british original, this due to eu regulations.
The Cadbury bars of my childhood were made under license by Hershey’s. They were somewhat better than regular Hershey’s, but not really that good. Maybe not now, but years ago Creme Eggs were imported from England where the chocolate was smoother.
There has always better quality American chocolate, like Guittard (mostly sold in bulk to candymakers like See’s), TCHO, and even Mars. I’ve had samples of Mars bulk chocolate at the Ethel M factory in the Vegas area, and that is extremely smooth and suitable for high end candies. Lindt has bought several American companies including Ghirardelli, and they manufacture in the US.
As a canadian, we have acsess to almost all of the candies (at least in my province lol), American and the British candy, so its really funny watching Americans/british that only have access to one or the other try the opposing candy lol

My late wife and I worked at a Connecticut boarding/day school for most of our careers (where we also raised our daughter Meghan), so we were blessed to have access to exchange students from England and Australia who would share gifts of their chocolate treats from home on a regular basis. The chocolates were always amazing, especially compared to the offerings of most commercial US chocolate brands! Meghan in particular fell in love with the Chocolate Oranges and could always expect to find one in her Christmas stocking every year. Seeing those among the sweets being offered to my fellow Americans made me nostalgic for Christmases Past ....
Sending you a virtual hug, just because.

As an American, I am always so surprised by the amount of people who haven't had a Terry's Chocolate Orange because I always had them growing up. They had them at the 99 Cent store and whenever we would visit my grandma she took us to get them because we liked them so much.
I've been to the US twice and stayed for a few months each time. Good chocolate was one of the things I missed most. Met some great friends while I was there. Nothing like your stereotypical, High fiving, USA chanting, Maga cap wearing Americans you see in the media. Im still in touch with them to this day.
The one thing i remember was the sea food. Especially in fishermans Wharf in San Francisco. The best Clam Chowder I've ever had and was served in a bowl made from bread.
I went in 1997 and 2000 for six months. I'm planning on taking my girlfriend next year, cause she's never been. We're hoping to spend 3/4 days in each place.
I've never been to New York, so we're going there and Philly, New Orleans, Somewhere in Texas like Austin. And I'd love to go back to San Francisco and San Diego.
I'm looking forward to going back again, but I'm going to take my own chocolate 😁.
Most Americans recognize Hershey's is trash. If you want good American chocolate you have to go into a specialty chocolate shop. Just like in the UK Cadbury is the lowest quality chocolate.
@@ambersmith459 UK sold Cadbury has by law at least 25% cocoa solids and is available everywhere. Hershey's has 10% so they're not really comparable.
@@tonydaddario4706 I've tasted both of them while Cadbury is 15% better or whatever it's still the lower end of the quality of chocolate in the UK and Hershey's is the lower quality of chocolate in US
@@tonydaddario4706 Cadbury don't give a % of cocoa solids for 'Dairy Milk' on their web site. However, both Sainsbury's and Tesco do; it's 23% and they both note the minimum is 20%, not 25%. Hearshey's is noticeably inferior to UK made Cadbury's Dairy Milk. However I agree with @ambersmith459, Cadbury's is at the lower end of UK chocolate. Decades ago, Ghirardelli was a reasonable US chocolate.
Cadbury's chocolate has gone down hill. I'm old enough to remember 'Dairy Milk' in the late 60s. I don't believe my taste buds are so degraded to mistake the modern, inferior, Dairy Milk for 1960s Dairy Milk. I think Dairy Milk might have noticeably degraded twice, but I was eating better chocolate from the early 90s onwards, so I might be mistaken and it was just much worse than good chocolate. Suffice it to say as Hershey's is inferior to UK Dairy Milk, so is modern UK Dairy Milk inferior to 1960s Dairy Milk.
To appreciate how bad it is, Cadbury's Bournville 'Dark Chocolate' has less cocoa solids than Green & Black's Milk chocolate; IIRC less than Green & Black's White chocolate.
I usually eat 70%+ chocolate, it counts as a 'plant point' 😋 and not too sugary. Cadbury's have nothing.
Best Wishes. ☮
I like how you guys brought back the guy from the pop up bagel shop! I think everybody loved his personality from the first video
Bonus points, they bet on it while filming yonks ago.
WHY ARE THEY CHEWING AN AERO BAR?!? 😮 Let that chocolate melt. Feel the bubbles!!
It’s a reflection on their own terrible American chocolate. They don’t even know how to eat chocolate properly.
americans are scared of different textures, im not joking they have like culturally induced eating disorders. I had an american friend who vomited because her bacon was too chewy (i ate the rest off her plate, it was normal back bacon cooked well). Another american friend said that if something is chewy or 'weird texture' to him they think its cheap or low class.
I’m confused do you not chew your food
Do you taste the bubbles?
it's almost as if they've never had one before & didn't know! strange!

I absolutely loved watching this. As a brit I am often in awe of the food you have over there but I'm so glad that you enjoy our chocolate. I've took it for granted all my life but I think I will enjoy it even more now....although I do find creme eggs just toooo sweet.
Terry's Chocolate Orange is a top tier treat.
I prefer the dark chocolate version.
This is the one area of American cuisine where I'm straight up like, other countries have us beat. My dad used to work with a lot of foreigners and they would always travel and bring him back chocolates, and man, we are missing out here. Thankfully a lot of these British chocolates are sold in markets here, so I've had a lot of them. My recommendation is "Flake." It is soooo weird. The bar is intentionally so crumbly and flaky but it literally just melts in your mouth.
As a brit I definitely recommend Flake. The most poplular thing we get from ice cream vans is a "99" which is just soft-serve with a flake stuck in it.
Also, personally the crumbliness can get a bit messy and annoying so I also recommend looking out for Twirl, which is basically a flake with a solid outer shell, plus that gives it a little more bite 😋
the flake is something europeans grew up eating with ice-creams not alot of people just eat the bar straight. i recommend breaking some onto vanilla icecream
flake isnt a chocolate bar really, you always get a flake in your 99 (ice cream in a cone, cost 99p thats why its called that) If you want a better version of a flake get a Galaxy Ripple.
Not necessarily. There’s some extremely good American manufactured chocolate such as TCHO and Guittard. Hershey’s did buy out several high end candy companies but then either shut them down or changed them, like Scharffen Berger and Dagoba. However, it’s not typically found at the checkout stand.
I find Flake a little too fragile. I'd choose a Twirl over it, for less mess, though it doesn't taste quite as good as a Flake.
14:03 it’s truly the only way to eat it - “How do you eat yours? “
The chocolate orange and the Cadbury eggs are something we look for on our shelves during the holidays. The others I've never seen but they all looked delicious. English chocolate is a real treat, wish they were avaliable more often here.
Always nice to see Steve pop up. I tend to forget he works with Babish, because he was always just, "The guy who went viral for trying to start watching Game of Thrones toward the end of the series with no idea what was going on."
American chocolate can't even be called chocolate in the UK - it's got too low cocoa content to be legally called chocolate.
7:20 that synchronised "Okaaayyyyyy" came straight from the heart😂
I'm in the US (Seattle area) and when I was younger in the 90s and early 2000s we had Terry's chocolate oranges here. I remember getting them for Christmas several years in a row. They were so good. I haven't seen them sold here for years now, though.
That dude is a genius. I've been telling people the secret ingredient in a double decker is mild coffee for a lifetime!
Ah thats interesting to know, thanks! Ive always thought it tasted like coffee, love me a double decker!
The first time I ate a double decker I asked if it was ‘cappuccino’ because it DEF does have coffee notes! So happy to see others agree.
I'd never thought about it before but it definitely has a mild coffee flavour!
Sadly they didn't get to try Cadburys as it was 15 + years ago before the takeover when for a mid market quality bar it was amazing with a unique and quite high percentage cocoa content and flavour and more creamy than now. The current products have much more sugar than they used to as it is used as a cheap filler
Yeah, it was amazing but then it got bought out by mondolez. I was super upset, as there was a campaign to keep it British. I’m from Birmingham where it’s originally made, and Cadburys is such an institution here, like at some point each child is taken to Cadbury world as part of a school trip etc.
I don't live far from Bourneville. I think they shouldn't be allowed to call it Cadbury. It's not the recipe and it tastes awful now. I ate a caramel bar after the swap and I spat it out it was so vile. I'm really really shocked there wasn't more of a fuss after people had tasted what they've turned it into. Flat sugar taste.
You can say that for most British confectionary now. All have been taken over by big outside foreign corporate conglomerates and the ingredients changed and corrupted. Nothing is like it used to be.
Exactly my thoughts, it's such a shame how much our chocolate in general has gone downhill
Yes!! So true, it used to be gorgeous before it was bought out - these days I definitely find it a bit waxy.
6:06 bounty is the taste of my childhood, the best thing is it comes in 3 several parts so can be shared with your mates

Cadbury was much better before Kraft bought them out. The ingredients and quality degraded greatly afterwards.
Was that before Mondelez?

Cadbury creme eggs are my favourite by far! Just bought 50 of them as Easter is done and I’ll have to wait now until next year! 😭
Babish had me crying at the Cadbury Eggs segment. "I'm going to die. And you BROUGHT A WHOLE BOX?!"
my british friend visits me in new york every several months and he lives with his nan in london.
he told her about me and bless her heart, she gets tea cakes for him to bring over for me because she knows i like them.
that aside, having tasted some british chocolate myself this past year (thanks, nathan), i'd say that i don't really like any of these besides tea cakes lmao
my mother has loved terry's since i was younger, but neither of us knew it was british.
the BEST british chocolate that i've had by far, is dairy milk with crunchie. regular crunchie is great too, but nothing beats the dairy milk bar one. (or the giant easter egg you guys have, i'm so jealous)
Galaxy Ripples
i loveee the dairy milk crunchie bar!!! my favourite alongside the regular cadbury
nahhhhhhh bro wtf is wrong with you
@@ashm4938 galaxy is good, but i'm not a fan of bars that are only chocolate.
@@FizzyJuiceCool i haven't tried EVERY chocolate. i said the best one that i've had so far. regardless, it's just an opinion mate. hope that helps!
They also do a caramel version of the creme egg which replaces the fondant icing with caramel. It's so much sugar but sooooooooooooooo gooooooooooood (thankfully they only do them at easter time!!!) 😅
I grew up eating Terry's Chocolate Orange and could eat a whole one in one sitting around the holidays. They usually it at lots of stores in the US, and my favorite is the single mix pack.
I genuinely am shocked by any American whose never seen a chocolate orange. Like we've had them here for like 30+ years, and I used to get one in my stocking every christmas for a long time.
During WWII in Britain, oranges were hard to come by, so at Christmas it was a real treat to get an orange in your stocking. My grandparents and parents have continued the tradition ever since. Terry's Orange was a great update to the tradition.
I live in Florida and I think the reason they aren’t as popular here even though you can buy them in stores, is that oranges are everywhere, and chocolate melts easily, so if I want to treat myself to some chocolate, I probably don’t want it to be orange flavored, and I wouldn’t want it to be packaged like that even though it looks cool because it would be a hassle to deal with in the Florida heat. That’s not to say I haven’t had them before. I grew up in Alaska and got them for Christmas. But now that I’m in Florida I’d rather just have an orange that I can get for free off a tree :)
@@b_korthuisMy grandpa usually got an orange for Christmas during the Great Depression as a once a year treat. That would be the only present they could afford for all the kids (13 total), so oranges are traditional here at Christmas too. We always had them included at Christmas when I was a kid.
Ollie saying suck it Hershey’s was spot on 😂😂😂
I remember being so excited to try Hershey chocolate. Major disappointment.
@@angemaidment5640agreed. I had Italian chocolate (gotta find some British chocolate) and I can’t go back to American chocolate.
@angemaidment5640 And get this: I once tried Hershey's chocolate that's made in China...and it tasted better than America's Hershey's!
@@wchan39 I remember trying KitKats from Japan and it’s they have WAY BETTER KitKats in Japan than the States
I know what they mean about the Bounty. Although the dark chocolate one is better I think. It does a good job of contrasting the sweetness of the coconut.
Ollie’s face on the Statue of Liberty…awesome!
I love how George is just a fan of food in general
I love the orange/chocolate combination. Even in lesser brands. But the lady nailed it with "This is diabetes" when talking about the creme egg.
Sugar does not cause diabetes!
Ironically, my Mom was Type 1 diabetic for 79 years. Never once ate a Cadbury Cream Egg in her entire life.
Oh, I know! I was a kid with a massive sweet tooth, and even as a kid, that creamy filling was just too much for me. Whenever I was given a creme egg, I would scoop out the filling and just eat the shell.
Yeap, I have always disliked Cadbury Creme Eggs, they are far too sweet.
@@JillWhitcomb1966 Therein lies the difference between Type 1 and Type 2...
4:30 haha brilliant. I've been eating these for decades and never noticed
We have Cadbury Dairy Cream, Fruit & Nut, and Symphony in US. I also had mint Aero in Houston.
Fun Fact: according to legend the RAF Banned Tunnock’s teacakes from plane cockpits as the bubbles in the soft marshmallow can cause them to expand and burst at altitude.
Did you not see when Glasgow launched a tea cake into space?
A moment of pride for my people 😂
Much prefer Tunnocks Caramel bars to their tea cakes
As a Canadian who grew up eating most of these chocolates as well, I find it so interesting that a lot of Americans never even knew they existed!
As an American I can't believe it either. They sell most of those things in Walmart. Cadbury is even in Dollar General.
i remember years ago passing thru canada and in the stores there was so much british foodstuffs it was like being at home, even some really obscure things were in the stores!
Hey I'm just finding out you guys invented Hawaiian pizza.
It's a big world out there.
Double Decker! Those are so good! Especially loved the nougat. ❤ First tried it when my friend gave it to me after coming back from her trip to England. I now ask her to buy that for me whenever she travels there. 😃
I’m going to have to see if the candy shop near me carries them. I want to try one of those
a bounty is JUST like a safrican Niki. my favourite SA chocolate aprt from a peppermint crisp. so looking forward to this series!!
My husband and I both LOVE the “Cadbury Fruit and Nut bar” and that may have gone over better with the American testers? I am a dark chocolate lover and I love the Fruit and Nut Bar even thought it’s milk chocolate. Really a favorite with so many around here. We love your videos by the way. You guys have put so much laughter and smiles on our face during Covid. Thank you. Love you guys…..
Same! I only eat dark chocolate with the exception of Fruit & Nut, Whole Nut, and Picnic bars. There's something about fruited chocolate that I really love, and the way I make my own trail mix definitely aligns with this 😂
I love dark chocolate too, on the odd, rare occasion it's great to find the dark chocolate version of the coconut Bounty bar. 🍫🥥 They're delicious! 😋
Although the mint Aero is good, it's not a patch on the dark chocolate & intensely minty After Eight's 😋😋
the terry orange egg is much better with dark chocolate. but then I am a grown-up so I prefer dark chocolate.
@@ninirossau2304 Terry's 🤨
I don't know if this information is going to be even vaguely useful to you - I assume you're in the states and I don't even know if this is still made, but...
Sainsbury's (UK Supermarket) used to make a dark fruit and nut. So absurdly moreish! If you ever get a chance, almost certainly worth a try :)
I just ordered British chocolates delivered to my house in Washington state. I'm disappointed you didn't offer the Picnic candy bar. It was one of the best in the box I ordered.
I’m from England and I’ve never eaten one of those or known anyone to do so - I just don’t think they’re popular
@@nataliabroadbent2163 i know people who eat them and i myself eat them as well
Picnics are excellent. Good choice. I'd also recommend Star Bars (if you like peanuts). Neither are the best selling chocolate bars, but both are great!
Good choice! Love Picnics ❤
@@TreaclebasketYes! Starbars are my mum’s favourite, we have to bulk order her a big box every year for Christmas 😂 less popular than other chocolate bars and we have to search harder to find them every year!
Terry's chocolate orange forever. The best of the best 😅 this was so entertaining. Great video 😂
