well first time hand gun owner here, So my Christmas present to my self was a new pistol.I went to the local gun shop with nothing but time and a good budget I basically held all of the quality compact 9mm in the store, yes I did have a few in mind before I got there but hey it was the candy store. when the clerk pulled out the XD-9 mod2 I was not really impressed with the grip zone wrote on the handle looked like hype to me but I picked it up, then it was love at first feel. I handled a few more after that but to me the XD was made for my hand. Went home and thought about it over night, read reviews and watched alot of video's of it and other models in the same class. Now I own it.
I have a xdmod 2 45 I love it
I have a similar story, but my Mod.2 doesn't have "Grip Zone" plastered on it. That would have been just a cosmetic gripe, but I don't have it; thank you Springfield, for listening to the criticism!
Very smart move. I opted for the xd9 mod2 with 4" barrel as well over the S&W m&p 2.0. I love it and so glad I chose it.
@@FuzedBox I bought mine a couple of days ago and it has "grip zone" on it. When did you buy yours and where did you buy it from?
@@rjscat4235 I bought mine from a local store here in North GA earlier this year. Judging from forums, all of them produced after a certain date have it omitted; I assume yours is probably old stock.
I just bought the xd mod 2 a week ago.I went into the local gun shop and must have handled at least a dozen different guns and the xd was by far the most comfortable gun for me.It does have a little bit more weight to it than others but this gun just feels so solid to me.So those couple more ounces don't bother me at all plus I like the fiber optic front sight.Im happy with my new sub compact.
I carry the Mod.2 every day, no regrets.
I also carry this daily, and highly recommend this firearm. Reliable, accurate, and feels great in the hand.
No ragrets 💀
Just purchased the 5” XD Mod2 - literally 5 minutes ago in .45 ACP. I own two 1911’s, the RO Elite and 3.5” SS compact. Love them both. I was looking at the M&P but went with the XD after watching alot of reviews and knowing the quality of Springfield. Thanx for the great review that pushed me to the XD. Grip safeties are no problem for me, I don’t know why some people gripe about them, you need a good grip anyway, why not have a safety?
Have the mod two sub compact for carry, love it. I like the grip safety, makes it a safer gun
I just bought the mod 2 45 and I'm absolutely in love with this badass pistol
I agree with your assessment. I have owned the S&W and the XD. Recently bought a XD mod-2 and I know I made the correct choice for all the same reasons you pointed out. BTW, I agree with the negatives as well.
Springfield XD, S&W M&P, Ruger Secrity 9 & LC9, Glock 19, Glock 26, Glock 27 all come in different configurations that you can customized... all are quality. The key is finding what you are looking for in a carry weapon.
Another feature of the M&P 40c and 9c is that they take the full size magazines ,15,17 and 32 rounds. I have an M&P 40c and a Stormlake 9mm conversion barrel with 15,17 and a 32 mag. Gun is really great in both calibers.
i went to my local gun store and was looking to get the m&p 9mm and left with mod2 9mm loved it since i carry everywhere except work EVERYWHERE only use 16 round mag switched 2 green front sight and Lag Tactical holster which i say a must have
I bought the XD Mod 2 BECAUSE of the grip safety - most 1911 shooters are used to and like a grip safty.
+Don Davis I understand that. You bought a nice gun for sure
The XD grip was a big seller for me. I've shot plenty of handguns and none have ever felt as comfortable as the XD. I went with the subcompact .40 instead of the 9mm though. I have no regrets. I've put roughly 300 rounds through it without a single issue.
Very informative, professional, and friendly. Without all the profanity that some people think is cool. Also you don't talk to us like we're in the third grade. Two thumbs way up!
I have a pinky extension on my XD and I think it makes a extra round like 14+1 super accurate.. and it’s fancy with the stainless two tone. No issues eats everything. Even rat shots.
The full size magazines for the M&P fit the compact also. With an available adaptor sleeve you can have 17 rounds in the M&P or you can carry the larger as a second magazine. The larger mag does not need the sleeve for proper function.
I know that I'm way behind the times on this video, but I have owned the XD for several years now and love it. I don't doubt that the S&W isn't a fine gun as well. Just wanted to say that I really liked your review video. Very informative, you did a great job of explaining each gun! I wish all gun reviews on CZcams were this good. Thanks!
Ironically, the grip safety id THE reason I purchase the SA's. I pocket carry a lot and between that grip safety and my Vetter holster, I don't worry about an AD.
Agreed 100% . I carry a xdm40 and I love the grip safety. Its a no brainier..it always works and doesn't require any conscious effort to utilize. My next gun will be a xd mod2 .
Lmao I thought dude was shooting then I saw the purple nail polish, confused for a second 😂😂
Nothing wrong with the XDM very controllable and grip safety is awesome
I own both of these. The original version of the tu-tone FDE/Black M&P was a Cabelas only promotion before S&W decided to put it out as one of their sku#'s.
I do NOT like the grip safety on the Springfield pistols - period!
As for the trigger, I find that they really are about the same (on mine) and I do not have this reassembly issue like you showed?? I am finding that I am leaning toward the M&P, especially the more rounds that I put through it the better it works and seems to be more accurate. It looked as though the rounds on your target were tumbling out of the Springfield? The weight is the killer for me and 1 round, well I;ll take the lighter one if I am going to carry it and sacrifice the extra round.
good vid.
The decision for my first pistol came down to these two guns (not the exact models, but close enough).
(M&P 2.0 3.8" barrel vs XD Mod .2 4" barrel.)
Just kept coming back to these two. Completely agree with your pros and cons on both, although I never had a chance to field strip the M&P since I just rented both guns before buying.
I went with the XD and couldn't be happier with it.
Thanks for the video, great review.
I bought the 45xds mod 2 and love this gun.I paid 299.00 and sent in for the free 3 extra magazines with another hard and soft case. The holster and magazine holder are very nice for C.C.Mine came with night sights.
Great review! I agree with all your observations and opinions except the grip safety on the Xd. I am an old 1911 fan, and find the grip safety comforting during carry, and is a plus, when deciding to buy the XD.
+Dave Shimko Thanks Dave!
Great video! I just bought the XD Mod 2 - mainly because of the grip safety, and I do appreciate the honest pros & cons, The grip fits my hand perfectly & has a great feel. The clips (new) are pretty still to load by hand, but it comes with a speed loader that makes loading a breeze. All in all, it's the perfect gun for me. Thanks much for the video !!
I just bought a Sig Sauer p320 carry about a month ago over the XD-9 mod 2 and was happy with the decision. This past Saturday I found a nib XD mod 2 for $400 at a small local gun show. Truly two of the best shooting 9's in my opinion. Nice video and review. New sub here.
I'm glad I finally heard her voice! For a minute there, I thought you were sporting purple nail polish! LOL!
I have the XD Mod.2 in both 3.3" 45ACP (my EDC) and the 4" 9mm Service model. Great guns, IMO the best among the "Tupperware" guns. I don't care much for the M&P line at all really, they just don't handle well for me. The grip safety is natural to me as I come from a long-time 1911 background. They are surprisingly rugged and concerns about dirt disabling the weapon are unfounded -- again, witness the 1911.
BTW the Croation manufacturer, HS, made these for the Croation military. The grip safety was a requirement for the contract. The XD was known as the HS2000 before Springfield acquired exclusive rights to import and market them in the US as the XD line.
My dick appreciates the "grip safety" on the XD's. That being said if you carry "one in the chamber" and "appendix" its a nice thought knowing that the gun wont go bang when its over your junk. And as many said before grip safety's don't really matter when you hold the gun the right way, its just a nice feature for safety when re-holstering the firearm.
I like the grip safety. Each to his own, I guess.
+Dr. Banner Yeah for sure
Grip safety is excellent and you are able to determine if there is a chambered round on the Springfield even in the dark.
Captbosco that's one of the things I love, even in the dark just run your finger on top of the slide and you know if you're good to pull the trigger
You should know the condition of your gun regardless imo. So the loaded indicator isn't really a pro in my opinion.
love the grip safety. especially for appendix carry. absolutely impossible to have a ND.
15:30 bro the fiber optics sight system is outstanding literally just enhances the target acquisition alot better than standard three dot sight system. good job guys much love from Grand Prairie, TX
the xd trigger feels so much smoother than the m&p. The xd is a better gun................. for me........
Yea............ shut up tho............
I would say, I own a 9c and my shooting buddy owns an xd. To my perception the xd trigger is much softer and has a longer pull with no real pressure before the break. The m&p trigger is a more concise pull but heavier. Since i also shoot a revolver, that doesn't phase me at all, but my buddy who has really only ever shot an xd was pulling shots like crazy with the 9c before i helped him with "squeeze dont pull" type advice. That not only helped him with my gun, but with his. Once someone overcomes that inexperience with using a truely stable trigger pull, the m&p provides a better pull because it has a less floaty feeling takeup imo.
I think the light takeup of the xd is afforded becuase of the grip saftey.
Both are great guns. Neither is a 1911.
I like the XD, but that grip safety just isn't for me. I own an M&P 9c and a 9 Shield, and happy with both.
Besides M&P American made, XD made in Croatia, its important to buy American, and with APEX trigger upgrade, M&P trigger is just as good or better, than XD, MAGA!!
CJ Steele springfield armory is an American company
I also own the 9mm MP-9 and love the gun.I paid 499.00 a few years back. The gun came with 2 extra 17 round magazines or a 100.00 off. I took the 2 extra magazines
I have both, and I like both. Laser sight added to S&W. Springfield is stock for now. Both shoot well!
I love my XD40 and XD45. They are extremely well built guns. M&P looks messy to me with weird cutouts and angles.
I have Glock 19 3rd Gen, Springfield XD9...just picked up S&M 9mm Shield and Springfield Xd9 Sub compact
Love them ALL
Great review! Just ordered the mod 2 4 inch barrel now even happier after watching this
My two cents: When I research a product for purchase, I will enter the product name, like S&W M&P 9c then enter problems, and read up on any problems that others have experienced with the item.
I agree, the XD just looks like an overall better pistol.Excellent video,an take care.
+James “Kill-shot 3388” phillips Thanks man!
Great video, I started shooting with an xd9 service model and stayed with xd line. I upgraded to the xd9sc the original not the mod2 I don’t care much for the “grip zone” but my xd9sc is easy to conceal the 16rd mag +1 thats way nice for a subcompact. As far as the grip safety I haven’t had any issues with except for one time at the range with my girl cousin first time shooter had issues the pistol would either not fire or fail to eject or fail to feed the gun not going bang was lack of firm grip on the grip safety I took over went thru two 16rd mags without a hiccup after proper grip instruction she never had the issue.
I have the M&P 2.0 full size and full size XDM. Love both. Both shoot great. Grip on M&P is more aggressive and if you get moist hands this grip will help. I carry the 2.0 but enjoy shooting XDM more because it came with red dot. Huge fan of the dot now.
I believe the barrel on the M&P's are finished with Melonite like the slide (could be wrong), if thats the case there is no need to polish the feedramp
I will keep my M&P Pro 5" and 9c, Springfield XD handguns have to much shit on them, from the unnecessary markings, grip safety, and loaded chamber flag, they ruin what could be a great handgun. The M&P's especially newer models are simple, minimal roll marks on the slide, excellent triggers, and made in the USA.
I am looking at the Mod2 9mm sevice model now.The 4"barrel should be very nice.
The Mod2 grip is one of the most comfortable grips on a polymer framed pistol out there, if not the most comfortable. IMHO anyway.
A wise choice. I just bought the XP9 4" barrel after a LONG time researching and comparing both. The only negative thing about the XD is the relatively long trigger reset. Apex trigger and you have arguably the best 4" 9mm handgun around. Makes the Glock 19 look like junk.
@2:07.. It doesn't have it because it's got the "grip zone"... Doesn't need extra handle inserts ;-) FWIW, through time, they offered various "gifts" in the case. When I got my XD M2, it came with 1 7 round clip, 1 14 round clip, 1 10 round clip. I went online and registered with SA and they send me 2 13 round clips, a holster, and 2 clip holsters. Having grown up shooting a 1911 45 and Bearatta 9mil (both military), I really like the XDM2. Fits well in the hand, is easy to control, and holds a lot of fire power.
New XD mod2 .45 owner here... Really a pleasure to shoot with an excellent trigger and grip feel. What a nice gun. Love the Bi-tone I purchased. The entire gun just feels of quality. btw/ in latest packaging for sales... no holster nor mag pouch included. Huge speed loader, yes.Good review here! Thx!
+Gary Ellliott Congrats on the new gun my brother and thanks for the comment!
Great comparison man. I've been wanting to try a compact M&P.
***** Give them a shot. They've come a long way
A simple pearce grip extension on my 13 round mag for the mod.2 made a world of difference to a already great feeling grip. As far as the grip safety goes: I did not like the idea of a grip safety when I bought the gun but honestly I never even notice its there anymore.
I love my GS-T!!! Lol
Flat wire spring is more durable than round wire spring. The XD spring looks heavier but less turns, equals more stress. I had the Mod2 and switched to the M&P...my Mod2 trigger was a little more gritty and spongy at the break even after a few thousand rounds.
I bought the XDM mod 2 in .45. It just feels right. The grip safety is really not an issue for me. To have even a semi proper grip you have to disengage it. Also I’m to understand like the 1911, it is really a single action (albeit striker fired) trigger and they really needed this safety to make it drop safe. Either way, it doesn’t bug me as I have a 1911 and am used to that arrangement. I think Glock people have put the idea out there that safeties make a gun not so good. We had safeties on all guns until the 1980’s including the Beretta 92 and they did just fine. Train with what you have.
Have a full size M&p 9 like it a lot just picked up a xd9 mod2 subcompact went to range with 100 rounds of sig v crown 115 grain and 200 rounds of seller@billot 115 grain fmj fell in love with this gun it will be my carry over my p365 and fn503
Great comparison. Love XD's except for the grip safety and did they really have to mold "Grip Zone" into the frame? You would think another section of texturing would have served better than "Grip Zone" lettering.......
Thanks to the Hegshot team; very entertaining video.
i love the round in chamber indicator on the xd
I just found a good deal on a used XD Mod.2. I'm not a large guy with smaller hands. I don't know if it's the GripZone or what, but I think the weight balances nicely in the hand? Can't wait to shoot it. Thanks for the reviews.
My EDC is a Sig P229 but after shooting the XD Mod 2 I started carrying that more often. It’s the wife’s but I really enjoy this gun. It’s lighter and more compact than my Sig.
great vid, I'm becoming a huge fan. this depicts my current dilemma on which firearm to get. I'm stuck between these 2 as well as a glock 26, wish I could get all of them but I have to settle with one. they all seem to have their pros and cons, my brother has a xd mod 2 so kinda wanted something different but we shall see. I have a single stack but i feel like a double stack would be nice in my carry rotation. keep up the great work.
Ross Lager Thanks man! Yeah its a good problem to have. So many great guns and so little money lol
I like both but I like the Springfield safety because you disarm it as you shoot quick way to disarm safety
The grip on my M&P Shield was the same slippery plastic. I put on talon grips, with the ergonomics now is a excellent gun to shoot.
Tip for you: buy a rear grip (replacement for the factory grip) from Gun Goddess with the tire tread stippling and just replace the factory grip with it in seconds - world of difference!! I have one on all my M&P guns. Most gun mfg'ers seem to do a lousy job on the rear of the gun which is the most important grip zone. Even well tectured grips are poor if they do not wrap around at least somewhat to the sides of the gun to keep the gun from twisting in your shooting hand. CZ makes great guns but is esp bad at this, but many others are as well. Really amazes me because it is so obvious and easy to cure!?
Whoa! I just bought the XD Mod 2 and it just came with the mags and cleaning brush and lock
I have the m&p 9c I love it awesome gun. always liked the xd's but refuse to buy it because of the grip safety. will always be a pet peeve of mine with the xd line if guns
Me too!!, besides, The M&P is made in America, Springfield made in Croatia!!
Just bought the XD Mod 2 today. Looking forward to shooting it. Good video.
XD Mod2 4" -- accurate, reliable, high capacity, fun to shoot, easy to maintain, extra safe to carry without being fussy. I keep trying to beat this gun for all-around utility and can't do it.
Stiff mag release is an advantage. Means you can't accidentally release the magazine while shooting. Takes a dedicated press of that button.
NGMonocrom I find if you tap the clip up with your other hand, the release will push with hardly any pressure.
I have the 45 xdm2. It's a jewel, both at the range and aesthetically. If you worry about things like metal wear, go for the stainless slide, otherwise enjoy the character the wearing of the blue.
I just shot a few mags through my buddy's mod 2 a couple hours ago. The Springfield's trigger is about a million times better than my M&P. I'm not a fan of grip safeties but the mod 2 is a really sweet gun. It seems like the "grip zone" could have been achieved without actually being written on the gun but it feels good in my hand. I'm a bit of a S&W fanboy but I don't think anyone would be disappointed with the Springfield.
well you just made up my mind thanks xd for me
+chapmaker46 Sweet man. No problem
Thinking the same.
+chapmaker46 I picked up an XD Mod.2 on Jan 1st. I don't regret it.
thanks
+T.M. Do you carry the XD mod 2? If so how do you feel about the almost 2 pounds on your hip? Trying to decide about buying this.
I like both, and agree that Springfield makes excellent quality guns. My XDS-9 seems to be of better quality and craftsmanship than my sister's 2.0 Shield, though both are great options. I also have a 2.0 9mm Compact and absolutely love that gun. Great Comparison, thanks.
The day I brought my Mod2 9mm I was out to purchase a GLOCK. Once I put the Mod2 in my hand it was a wrap. I was sold due to the grip and the grip only. It just felt so right.
Like the guy at the gun store said, these two guns are like choosing Chevy or Ford for truck....one isn't necessarily worst then the other. BUT people are going to have their preferences. Personally I like the XD so much I qualified with it at work so I could carry off duty when I wouldn't have had to go through the trouble if I carried the shield because we carry M/P as duty gun
Very good review. Both are great guns. I own the XD mod 2 and it is my Every Day Carry. 13+1 with the 16 round mag in my pocket gives me 30 rounds. Quality is great on the XD. Front fiber sight is a great benefit. Add in the value of the complete kit, with holster, case and mag pouch and you start to really see the value of the complete package. I wanted to buy the M&P Compact, but i rented one and the trigger killed the deal. I could not be accurate fighting that squishy trigger. They put a much better trigger on their Shield product. That makes that gun a tack driver. S&W makes great guns and sells a ton of them for great prices. But for a few dollars more the XD gives you a lot more features and accessories. I can think of 5 ways the grip safety could save an accident. 1 - Someone grabbing the gun quickly from a safe, glove box, purse or night stand and getting their finger in the trigger area. 2 - Somehow you or someone drops the gun and try to catch it while falling, and accidentally get the trigger. 3 I know of someone who had a wife try to carry several loaded guns because children were coming to the house and she wanted all guns locked up and got her finger in a trigger area and discharged the weapon. Grip safety would have prevented that accident. 4 Clothing accidentally gets in the trigger guard while holstering and trigger gets depressed cause accidental discharge. 5 You keep your gun in the drawer without a round in the chamber and a stranger or child finds the weapon and tries to charge it, but doesn't know the grip safety has to be depressed. This prevents an amateur from charging the gun raising the risk of an accident. I can't see any way you would ever try to fire a gun without your hand firmly on the grip, which is required to fire the XD.
StanBinKS how dose it feel on hip wise on everyday carry?
I find the XD9 mod 2 extremely comfortable for EDC. The best daily carry concealment IWB holster for the XD9 mod2 is from Concealment Express $39. (google their website)($45 for the plastic that looks like carbon fiber)
This makes it easy to put on and take off, and the draw and re-holster is so easy. I wear it at about 4 to 4:30 on my waist and it is easy to drive with and carry all day. I have a big lounge chair in my TV room, and wear it late into the evening sometimes because I don't notice I still have it on my belt.
I strongly recommend their holster over others I have bought and tried. Any collapsing leather holster is a no go for me. They are so hard to re-holster your gun. Those with thin, sharp plastic cut into your skin. I find OWB carry harder to conceal, but the Springfield holster or the OWB from Alien Gear work great for OWB.
I have the IWB version from Alien Gear and it is very comfortable, but is much harder to put on and take off than the Concealment Express holster. The Alien Gear holster is also harder to re-reholster. I do wear the Alien Gear mag holder a lot, it is the best extra mag option out there in my opinion.
There is no doubt my XDS 9mm and my S&W Shield 9mm are thinner and I have a CE holster for both. Very easy to carry, but you are giving up 14 rounds for 8 rounds. With a back-up mag you are going with 15 rounds compared to 30 rounds for the XD9 mod 2. That is a big difference in self-defense capability in my opinion.
Right now the Gear Up promotion give you the ability to buy the lower cost XD9mod2 and get 4 extra mags, the holster and double mag-pouch for FREE. I bought a second XD9mod 2 and got the Gear Up extras in about 3 weeks. The value of that is about $180, so a great incentive.
I have used the Springfield double mag pouch in an 8 hour handgun training program with a lot of mag changes required, the double mag pouch worked great. I find the Alien Gear mag pouch easier to put on and take off. The Springfield double mag pouch requires removing your belt to install or take off. For EDC, the ability to remove your gun and extra mag is important, it you have to go into a school or government restricted area like a post office.
wife got the xd i got the m&P $100 cheaper for the m&p. Love shooting the xd havent had the chance to shoot m&P yet. if i had to pick one i would go with xd just based on the sights and grip.
I have both guns and i like them both but i do like the xd just a little more. The m&p has been an excellent carry gun and the xd is as well. It was hard for me to choose 1 gun so i got 1 of each. I have a couple other brands as well but these two guns imo are to notch carry guns especially if you dont want to spend your childs college fund.
Very nice video. Excellent lighting and clear visuals. Nicely done.
+Dougie D Thanks dude glad you liked it.
You can disable the grip safety by jamming something between the safety and the frame. there are other videos showing you. I have no problem with the grip safety for now. I did temporarily disabled it with a strip of grip tape. Either way this gun shoots well and I feel the heavier weight allows me to shoot it better than my M&P.
Got a xd9 mod2 and a Glock 20 for when I don’t mind showing a little bit of print now that’s a fun gun the Glock that is probably what I would carry all the time but it’s kind of heavy so I usually pack my xd9 I want a Kimber micro 1911 45 acp eventually for a 2nd little gun
great video on comparison and much appreciated. I have 9mm and 40 cal xd subcompact and 100% satisfied. Thanks
+Juke 1751 Thanks for watching
The best I think is the Springfield XD Mod 2 9mm. Comparing to the Glock 19 it holds 16 rounds to the Glock 15 rounds an the 45 acp version holds 13 rounds.
The grip safety on the Springfield is an important part of their drop safety. Its not just a safety for holstering. In theory because of their SA design the sear could fall when dropped without it, Sure the striker safety would still stop it from firing but the gun would then be un cocked. I guess I don't understand what the problem is with the grip safety if you cant hold the gun in a way to activate the grip safety your absolutely not going to make a good shot which means you just killed a kid or other innocent bystander.
I own 9mm xdm 3.8 compact and m&p40c. Xdm has higher build quality has better polished feed ramp, has dual spring while m&p does not, has a slightly better trigger, BUT the m&p40c is WAY lighter I have carried both guns and the m&p I can pocket carry .the xdm compact I carry inside the waist because it is too heavy to pocket carry. I have shot 10,500 rounds through the xdm and 1,500 through m&p40c. I own the Springfield for 5 years and m&p 1 year. Both great
Late to this party, but I have both and for me it's the XD all day long. Better shooter IMO. Both are great options and you can't go wrong with either. The grip safety is not an issue for me; I like the extra level of safety when I holster my firearm. As for costing me my life, (as someone stated in the comments section). Take the time to acquire the proper holster and training, and you easily have the proper grip (via muscle memory) when you draw the firearm regardless of the situation. Besides, If you were to try and fire any firearm without a full grip on the gun, the result would be a provable miss or worse; not to mention, it's worked for a hundred years or so on the 1911's. Not even trying to sell it, just calling it like I see it.
Great video, I know this is four years old but I'm actually trying to decide between the two.
Brian Daniel I went into the local shop with the M&P and Glock in mind, clerk showed me the XD and let me shoot it (has a rental range out back) and I instantly fell in love! Walked out with the XD, no second guesses.
same where can i get that XD now
At 13:25 it's your voice and what i thought was your thumbnails painted, and I was like WHAT DUDE??! You paint your nails?? WTF..then I see it's a chick...relief...Thanks for sharing the video!
+Sploob McKelba Nah that was me :)
sick bro...
The lever on the M&P wasn't pointing down all the way. That's why it didn't allow you to pull back the slide! Hello.
It would be nice if you just weighed the guns on a scale. Sometimes the manufacturers don't specify if the weight is with or without a magazine. Or they round out their figures.
It would also be nice if you showed how much room your fingers actually have on the grips of these smaller guns. The Smith doesn't have a bunch. I would have liked to see how that was.
Dude love the dingus! Awesome review/comparison.
I suggest that anyone, looking to purchase a firearm go to CZcams and enter the brand name of the firearm with the word "problems" This will show what problems others are having with a particular firearm.
Great vid, just the comparison I was looking for. I'm actually looking into buying my first gun and these 2 are my top 2 choices. Thanks for the vid, keep up the good work :D
Nobody ever has a valid reason for hating the grip safety. It's always just "I dont like it"....even though it has no effect on you at all.
I like both of em, but the XD 2.0 trigger is better than the M&P's trigger, imho. The M&P 2.0 is coming out next month so hopefully they'll upgrade it's trigger.
Just stopped at my LGS today to check out the Shield. I didn't shoot it but it felt very going in the hand and I also got to check the XDS and Mod2 XDS. The Mod 2 is also very nice. But the Shield has a nicer trigger on dry fire. Hummm, good thing I'm broke and don't need to make up my mind yet, LOL!! I've got plenty of time to make up my mind!! At least I have some great options to choose from. My LGS would be very happy if I hit a big lotto!!!!!
trust me. the trigger on the shield does not even come close to the one on the mod 2
I bought it for the grip safety. I don’t think about it all. I’m heavy and I don’t want the gun to go off when I bend down. It is top heavy though.
I’d have to agree with your observations. I own an M&P 9c and dropped the Apex Duty Spring kit into it. Still the trigger feels a bit clunky with stacking and less of a crisp wall than my XDS 9’s trigger. If I’m not careful, it will throw my shot off. That said I’m waiting for the M&P 45c version 2 to decide. They fixed the trigger issues, but I still might lean towards the XDm 3.3 Mod 3. Well made and being a 1911 guy too, I don’t mind the grip safety at all. I feel it doesn’t get in the way and is very unobtrusive. I don’t get the complaints. It really doesn’t have a downside practically speaking. Love the XDS. I shoot it better than my other single stack.
Thanks for the great review man! Have a Shield 40 and XDS 45. Love both but really like the XD mod 2 I bought a week ago. I bought this in 9mm (3" barrel) so I could get extra capacity and save some money at the range. I own a few Springfields so the beaver tail safety doesn't bother me. I actually went out to buy a Glock 26 but came home with this. The #1 selling point for me was the new grip. I have semi-large hands and can still get my pinky finger on the flush, 13 rd. mag without problems. Cant do that with either the Shield or XDS so I bought Pierce grips for those. No need with this in 9mm. Not sure I would want them for the 45 either. Just received my promo 2 extra mags, mag pouch, and (single pistol) range bag this afternoon. For $469 + tax, it was an unbelievable deal and great shooter. Haven't shot the new M&P compact but love my Shield.
sorry for late reply - Dunn Sports in Pevley, MO.
The Mod 2 will be my first gun(owned not shot) when it gets to my FFL in the next 2 days(: I was debating between these two when I was making my final decision. Seems like a made the right decision. I'm stoked!! Great vids, brother. Keep it up!
+Gauge Keller Congrats man. Thank you
I have the 9c and like it overall. The trigger is crap and too strong. I have a lot of accidental magazine ejections mainly when I lay down and sometimes sitting. I could stop it with a different holster if it covered the mag eject or maybe if someone made a stronger magazine release spring which I haven’t found.
I like grip Safty when I carry Appendix
I see a lot of blue cases mine came with a black one. LE model if that matters, also '08 model so maybe the blue is a newer thing.
Good comparison video. Yeah, that M&P definitely looks good in the FDE. I think Springfield now offers the XDS in FDE, so perhaps the MOD2 will be available in FDE soon...that would be awesome. Keep up the good videos!
Mason Black Thanks brother
