Hey Jengar. Regarding the 12,7 issue, they came over a lot of surplus ammo after the war and therefore rebarrelled the guns from 13,2 to 12,7. The only difference between the calibers were basically the bullet dia and the fact that the 13,2 fired explosive rounds (therefore labelled automatic cannon and not machinegun (akan)).
Hey Jengar, I know this video is 2 years old but did they buff a bunch of these planes or something? I got my first jets a few weeks ago and had a pretty good time in the J21RA but when I flew the J21RB I did pretty poorly and didn't enjoy it. I also really enjoyed the first j29 and have been doing amazing with it. However I played my first few vampire games today and didn't even hit another plane for 7 matches. Kept blacking out, getting outturned or most often they just flew away to come back with an alt advantage. Idk it feels like I've been experiencing exactly the opposite of what everyone says about the Swedish tree, maybe that's because they're my first jets and I don't have anything to compare them to, but I don't understand why people keep saying they suck when they don't.
the J29 is incorrectly modeled in game. pilots praised its agility over other aircraft and it once held a closed circuit speed record. shame about the in game model, it's one of my favorite planes IRL and when you say the vampire is slow, just remember that the J21R would have no wings at the vampire's straight line speed.

The 13.2s were taken out since fifty cal ammo was MUCH cheaper and basically nobody else used the 13.2s.. It was a great AKAN but the bean counters decided cheaper was better. So they were re-barralled.. It was actually considered giving the J 26s 13.2s but sadly that did not happen..
@@jengar6258 I think the more frustrating thing is that the actual British Vampire has half the repair cost, for the same plane, at the same BR. Punishing the Swedish line for no reason that I can see.
It's so strange how bad the Tunnan is since it historically was very competetive against it's equivalents in the MiG 15 and the Sabre. Either my nationality has made me incredibly biased in favor of Sweden (a distinct possibility), or something is just really strange with the flight model

I'm fairly confident that the reason the 13.2's were removed from the jets was likely due to the fact that the 12.7 is both a more common cartridge and thus can be procured AND produced, it's probably part of the NATO agreement. It's probably just more cost effective, and having that slightly smaller round would allow you to carry more ammunition with less consequence with minimal drop in performance (theoretically)
@@jengar6258 it really is, from the research I've been conducting regarding this matter, the 13.2's functioned as a small bore cannon, which would also lead to the rounds being even more expensive to produce. The 12.7 just does NOT have the wallop that the 13's have, and Sweden suffers as a result. Even still, the 12.7 was several KILO'S lighter than the 13mm gun, and with jet tech in its infancy power to weight ratio would have been of the utmost importance. Thanks for replying, and keep making these tier review vids, they were invaluable to me when I was learning Swedish air forces
The J29D is one of my favorite planes in the game. It has a fairly forgiving flight model (imo) due to its excellent energy retention and strong engine especially at speeds between 800-1000 kph. It also has good climb performance, it can in fact outclimb both the Mig-15 and the Mig-17 especially if you make it a climbing spiral, since the energy retention is better than those planes. Once you reach speeds around 300-400 kph at the top of the spiral you will in fact start outturning both the Mig-15 and the Mig-17. However the best way to use the J29D is like a sledgehammer, you swing it to one side of the battle go up come back down and swing it to the other side, and abuse it's capability to make very steep approaches on your enemy.
The reason they removed the 13.2mm is because it was much less cost efficient than to just buy 12.7mm since .50 cals were used by America and could just be bought for cheaper
Swedish tech tree in a nutshell: all nice planes until rank V, then play the Vampire until you reach the Draken. Really all the other Jets are quite bad imho

Looking forward to a individual review of rank 6 or 7 in the far or distant future, got my A21RB today after about a week and a half of grinding with the J22A/B, J21A-1 and the glorious T-18B-1.
In all honesty, I love the J29A. It's fun to fly, and when spaded it outruns any jet at it's br. Uptiers suck, but they are gonna happen, you can't do much about it. It's a plane that is the underdog in any fight and that makes it in my opinions so fun to fly. Of course, it's not for everyone, and you should try it to form an opinion.
Great video as always!! I guess I'll change nation and leave Sweden for a while, I always have problems getting SL, and I don't think it's worth it to spend millions just for the J28.
I think Sweden helps new players with tracers, I don't know if u tryed the J8A as a CAS plane, It's magnificent with the 8mm mgs and 23mm of pen u can delete evryone at BR 1.0
Question- How would you recommend getting used to a plane and its characteristics other than just by flying it in game.Do you recommend doing test flights or just run trials in online games. Also great video keep it up:)

Good but bad, the J29A is quick and I out speed 99% of things in 7.7 and u can go Mach 0.86 Flatout. The guns are good but they’re inaccurate in direct hits. You have a good verticale climb rate but u lose so much speed in turns

@@nagow_360 that’s my issue with it. If it was like 10k or maybe even 15k it would be bearable, but as it sits even if it is a really good plane it would not be worth it. The plane after it, the Saab105, is that any good? That would be the only thing compelling me to get the SK60
Did Gaijin increase the Battle Rating for the vampire? it says 8.0 now and if so, is it still competitive? I have the A21RB, SK60, and now the A28B, I've been struggling getting through this BR for a couple days and the A21RB is the only jet I can seem to make work. any tips or knowledge is greatly appreciated!
a28b is useles. it has VERY bad performance compared to other planes at the same br. americans have always the best planes, and when you get uptiered, you will be shredded by everything. also you have no AGM's, other nations do.
@@jengar6258 I was a padawan in NmY and then I got kicked because of some bad apples who said i team killed, but i was just landing and spray my mgs and i accidently hit him, he was able to repair but i still got kicked.

I've flown the J-21R a lot in RB and I do really well there with it against other planes. The flaps make the turn rate insane if you're at low speeds.
Maybe you've found its niche.
You forgot that the J28b has horrid repair cost. Over 20k spaded. Better not die in it...
I only died once, i didnt notice. Still, it can earn sl despite that.

I believe they replaced the 13.2mm's with 12.7's because the 13.2's were too low of velocity to be used by the jet frames compared to the 12.7's

you can do testflights with the missionmaker. you can then fly against ai. or do custom battles with squadronmates.
It’s telling that the crappy planes haven’t been lowered any. But the 28 is 8.0 now

yes you should, at least get the sk60 it is really good but has a really high repair cost

yea, something like a spitfire Mk Ia, or the bf 109 E-1 are excellent to start with. The F2A-1 is also a great candidate.
It depends on what type of aircraft you are into like bombers

Yeah the vamp is nowhere near as competitive as it was now. We can't have nice things apparently
