I am in my 70s now but years ago when I was a shy fifteen-year-old boy from the city I was at an agricultural show and walking along a track I heard the toot of a horn and turned around to see I was blocking the progress of an opened-top Rolls Royce. I stepped aside and who should be sitting in the back of the limo but the Queen Mother and the Earl Mountbatten. I'll never forget the Queen Mum looking straight into my eyes and giving me a beaming smile as if I was the most important person in the whole showground. I was thrilled to bits! Yes, it is true she did have that personal quality which most politicians pretend to have at election time.

Such a wonderful lady. She enjoyed life and was so charming and her smile made everything so much better. I heard her speaking once on a documentary and she had everyone in the palm of her hand. They broke the mould when she was born and we'll never see her like again.

A remarkable woman who was admired by her all walks of life and for Hitler call her the most dangerous women in Europe during WWII ,she lived to be 101 1900-2002 she had good and tradgic life out living her husband king George V and her Daughter Princess and lossing a brother during the war were true blows to her and just passing away afew months before her Daughters Golden Jubilee celebrations,but she showed so much respect for the men and women who gave their lives and died in war for Britain and the Commonwealth. God bless the Queen mother.

During the 1936 Olympics, all athletes and people in the audience where required to do a Nazi salute out of respect to the Germans who were hosting the Olympics, that doesn't mean that every single British tourist and athlete at the Olympics was a Nazi.
Also, the royal family did not have to take such a public role in visiting bombed parts of London, most world leaders were hiding in their bunkers, and I doubt the queen was such a Nazi enthusiast when they bombed her house.
As for living in public benefits, the crown estate gives the government £360 million every year, while only recieving £30 million from the government, so actually the royal family gives far more money to the government and that's even before we take tourism into account.

They meet thousands of people at events and do several public engagements each day. The Queen mother was a really kind woman who cared a lot about the public, throughout her life.
