Love love love!!! My square reader!! I have one that's always setup in my office with the docking station so it stays charged. I also have a contactless card reader in my to go back for mobile appts. I can honestly say I love square for my business❤

Just bought a Gen 2 after having 2 Gen 1 readers for 4+ years and with a week of use I've already had multiple pairing issues.
Force stop the app and reopen it. Shouldn't have to do like that but it works every time.

I have a computer repair shop, and for the last 4 years I've had my love/hate relationship with the Square POS Terminal. In theory, I love the device, the screen, it offers magstripe along with all the features of the Square reader. The reality is, I've had problems with it freezing, rebooting, not holding a charge sometimes, and the latest is I had to do a factory restart, and it keeps freezing in the middle of setup and/or updating, and won't work.
Anyhow, with that said, I see the Square reader will do most of what I need (I can forego the wants like the screen and magstripe), however, it says it will pair with a bluetooth device, but then says works with Android and iOS apps. My front desk girl has a laptop (which of course has bluetooth), can it be paired and used with a laptop instead of a phone or tablet?

While you’re unable to connect the Square Reader to a laptop, you can use Virtual Terminal to process payments on a computer instead. Learn more here: squ.re/4ea3TNl.

It's March 2024 and I have had so many issues with the new card reader I absolutely hate it it says it doesn't pair well with android I might have to switch.

Ok, I got the 4 green lights. But nothing happened when I tried to enter a test sake with my credit card. Tapping didn't work. Inserting didn't work. What am I doing wrong?

How will Square sales appear on my bank statement? Will they be itemised or grouped?
Your transfers will include the lump sum of the transactions included in each specific transfer. You will see the total amount as a transfer to your bank account. You can learn more about transfers with Square here in our Support Center: squ.re/2B9dHWZ
Do I need to link my checking account?
Before you receive your first transfer from Square, you will need to add a verified bank account to your Square account. You can start the verification process right from your Square Dashboard or Square App by following these steps: squ.re/2FMkchS.

So what about cards with no NFC and no chip? Those are still a thing believe it or not and many of my customers have these cards. And wbat about WEX company. Gas cards. I sell gasoline at my business and many customers come to fill up using these cards. They usually run as credit and.have no chip and no nfc. Just strip. Please help
If you are a US based seller when you activate your Square account for the first time you do get a free Magstripe reader. With those readers you can still swipe cards with no chips. Can multiple devices be connected at same time?

Hi.. Can I use this square reader in accepting payment in the Philippines?
We are so happy you are interested in Square but our system is not available in the Philippines. Card payment acceptance with the Square app is currently available in the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, France, and Spain. We currently don’t support payment card processing outside of these countries.

If you're watching this because you just bought a Square Reader, you wouldn't have an "existing Squre account", so a word on HOW TO set one up would have been helpfiul.

We had a Square account months before getting the reader. We used to use our phone to tap and receive payments and recently bought the terminal... So we had the account before the reader
We had an account because we used to have one that plugged in to headphone jack. Then bought this one because we got new phones that didn't have that access.
For me toping or holding the card on the back of the phone doesn't work..

The worst when it doesn't want to connect

Doesnt work it wont flash orange to connect. It is green
Hold the power button down until it shows orange lights, it might take more than 3 seconds

1. Make sure the app and device are up to date
2. Delete and reinstall app
3. Turn on Bluetooth from your device’s settings. For iOS devices, this can be found in Settings → Bluetooth. Try turning Bluetooth off and back on.
4. Your Square Reader must be within 10 feet of your device. The Bluetooth connection may be out of range and could disconnect.
5. Check that your Square Reader has an adequate battery. Low battery may increase disconnections between your device and Square Reader. Press the button on your Square Reader once to see the battery level. If you see a blinking red light, that means your reader battery is low and should be charged immediately. If your reader is in a dock, make sure your reader is being charged.
6. Restart your phone, tablet, or other electronic device. You can also first try briefly putting your device into Airplane mode.
7. Reset your Square Reader. Hold down the power button for approximately 20 seconds. The lights on your Square Reader will flash orange, then red, and then they will stop flashing. Do not let go of the power button until after the red lights have stopped flashing.
8. Bluetooth will automatically turn off when your Square Reader is in a dock connected to a Square Stand by USB cable. Disconnect the USB cable from the Stand or dock and then attempt to pair.
9. Move your Square Reader away from sources of Bluetooth interference such as microwave ovens, cordless phones, fluorescent lights, or using your reader on a metal table.
10. Clear your Bluetooth cache if you have an Android device.
11. See Apple’s article on Bluetooth interference for additional information, support.apple.com/en-us/HT201542.
My square reader is not connecting anymore, dont know why. Ive only used it for 4 months.

Reader requests "Hold credit card to back of phone" HELP. Not working! Why is this not functioning as designed... "contactless" numerous, tireless, tedious attempts to hold customer's credit card against the back of my android become an exercise in futility. Please help.

This box is the worst thing ever. It never connects. I press and hold, it blinks red, and then it fades away. Make this more intuitive for Android users.

I had the same issue, once I watch a video, how to connect a squire reader to smart device, it was so easy.
I can't believe I wasted money on this. You get a pretty generous percentage of sales, make it more compatible with Android. It never wants to connect. Completely useless
You have to do it through the app. Worked for me but i had a few trial errors lol

OMG hold on, I just paid for this thing, Now i wish i didnt do it. I hope you take returns of this thing. i did not see this video until AFTER i paid for it. This video and seeing others saying it has problems. No Thanks, So i will need to always turn on Bluetooth or it will not work, OMG I will just rather stick with manual entry as you seem to have turned off the old card reader. NO THANKS. i do not want this thing in my shop. Way to many problems with it to accept payments. I no longer trust this company. I will just tell my customers cash only, My area was hit by high winds and took down internet service, I was seeing places say sorry, cash only, Now i know why, No internet no payment. This is now 1 month after high winds in illinois. Not your fault but making card payments useless. Then in 2023 i see you raised the rates a little. Just another reason for me to say CASH only.

@@squarereader will not take card chip. Your customer service pretty much sucks. What happened to customer service at your company. Modern computer age or not customer service is essential. To bad you fail to subscribe to common sense and courtesy. Either you want less customers or your just plain cocky and forgetful of how you got successful.
