Never dealt w/ Yamaha, but I will say that the Mackie support team is EXCELLENT. I bought two of their PAs and a mixer (my first PA and my first mixer). I called them once w/ some questions about the gain levels and what I was seeing on the meters w/ the PFL solo. They were very nice. I called a 2nd time to ask how to an elaborate setup for a Zoom game night (JackBox Games). I wanted to hear the people on the Zoom call and the computer game through my PA but not hear my own mic coming through the PA. On the other end I wanted the people on Zoom to hear my mic and the computer game but not themselves. The guy walked me through it, even presented me w/ 2 different options.

Interesting! I have one of each and enjoy them both. My wife uses the AG-06 streaming her Jazzercise classes on Facebook Live; perfect application for that. My Mackie is currently somewhat underutilized, driving my SM-58 for Zoom meetings on an M1 Mac Mini; more uses to come. Thank you for justifying both my 2020 pandemic purchase decisions!

Hello Chuck, This is exactly what I am trying to figure out. I bought the M1 about a month ago and am frustrated with the lack of ports. Was looking at getting a mixer for my mic, speakers, and camera. I also wouldn't mind having the ability to record different things in the future. Right now i just have zoom, and different video meetings. Did you use any other external device? ?

I actually just bought the Yamaha AG06, but the Mackie caught my eye because of a feature you didn't really talk about here, which is that the USB audio interface has two stereo outputs (USB 1-2, and USB 3-4). This sounds like it would be a bit more flexible than the Loopback function on the AG06 and could be useful for livestreaming purposes. I was hoping to hear more about the details of that feature.
One of the things that sold me on the AG06 though was that it's bus-powered, which just reduces the mess of cables and makes it more portable, so I doubt I'll be returning it.

Hello! It is June 2022. I own a Mackie ProFX6v3. And I also have an EVO 8. All this stuff for just home singing and recording! :) Anyhow I just purchased the AG06 Mk2 from Kraft Music. NICE! Mic Preamps are as good as the Mackie. Don't need the USB loopback which I was using on the Mackie. Overall the Mk2 is quite simple, USB powered unlike the Mackie. I record using Cakewalk but did download and install Cubase AI which came free with it. I kind of struggled with fairly bad feedback from my Bose S1 Pro but learned how to tweak the settings to avoid that. What I REALLY LIKE about the AG06 Mk2 is that using a laptop, once I choose the right reverb and EQ settings, those settings stay on the mixer/interface. I find that a regular USB power adapter that puts out at least 1 Amp, (all of mine put out 2 Amps) is all that is needed to power it (and of course a laptop). Indeed my laptop uses USB-C connectors so that is so handy to connect to the AG06 Mk2.

You have compared these brilliantly like all your videos. For me, I'm still unsure because of the wet and dry recordings made. Can you still change the recording that is done on the Mackie or is it best to have the dry option on the Yamaha. Thank you for such unbelievably clear videos. I've learned so much from you.

This business of "dry" vs "wet" has me intrigued. So I just imagine two singers using input 1 and 2, jumping into a Yamaha pool and getting soaking wet with the other inputs like background music, guitars and what not! :) Today with my AG06 Mk2, I tried connecting the "Stereo Outs" into my Bose S1 Pro; I use twin 1/4" TS cables into a single 1/8" stereo jack into the Bose. I found that only the knobs on the Mic input control the volume out and not the Monitor volume control. The reverb and Eq knobs do work for the Stereo Outs too. At home I don't see much of a use for the Stereo Outs.

You do talk a little bit about it but pictures / videos says a lot more then words :) seeing how the different mixers or audio interfaces work on the computer may change someone's mind on which one to buy. mackie Profx6 vs an evo 8 for instance, is night and day on the software side

Such a shame that AG06 doesnt have fx/aux output. I would like to throw my voice through external effects - noise gateway, compressor, eq - and go back to the mixer with 3/4 inputs and then send it to pc. That the only feature for which i rather consider soundcraft notepad 8 or even dirt-cheap xenyx q802 usb. But the compactness and usb powering is soooo tempting in AG06

Hello Jordan, Thanks for such informative and impressive comparison between the two affordable audio mixers. I humbly seek your expert advise for below points:
    1) I want to do Facebook live streaming for singing with karaoke setup (karaoke tracks will be played using laptop / mobile phone)
    2) One complete output (Karaoke Track mixed with my vocals) of audio mixer will go to Mobile phone (through which I will be doing Facebook live streaming from my FB Page)
    3) One output of audio mixer I will be listening while I will be singing/performing (Karaoke Track mixed with my vocals)
    4) One output of audio mixer for my assistant who will be monitoring sound (Karaoke Track mixed with my vocals)
    5) Since I will be singing/ covering Bollywood & English numbers I believe I need good effects (like in Mackie ProFX6v3)
    6) Also I will be thankful to you, if you may kindly suggest me a affordable gadget which I would be able to connect to audio mixer to listen to the output (karaoke tracks + vocals) without using wired headphones (cordless headphones/ earphones) while I am singing on live FB stream.
    Thanking you, in anticipation,

3:54 I think compression works on both inputs. On the prior video (sqB-o4PEQAU "amaha AG06 Audio Mixer | Setup, Demo, & Review") at 11:25, the PC software shows COMP for both inputs.
0:43 9:40 Regarding 48V phantom power, this is true of the years-old original model. However, Yamaha within the past year released a revised MkII that includes 48V on both XLR inputs.
1:03 It took some searching (and contacting Yamaha support), but the "AG03/AG06 Technical Specifications" PDF for the MkI and "AG06MK2 AG03MK2 Block and Level Diagrams" PDF for the MkII both indicate 60db of gain for the entire AG (both AG03 and AG06, and both MkI and MkII) series of mixers: 4 less than the MG10XU for whatever that's worth.
