    Beautiful comparison and excellent details. I’m going to gift the 2i2 to my friend who started a Podcast earlier this year….same goes for my Uncle who’s going to need a straight forward setup. As for me!? I’m getting the Mackie ProFX6V3 which I’m ordering tonight! Thanks Mr. Kettner for the information I love your channel. Peace & Blessings.

    Great video's ! So you've compared both the Mackie ProFX6v3 and the YamahaAG03 against the Scarlett 2i2. From this I've learned:
    Mackie is more suitable for (standalone) live events such as weddings etc. since it has:
    - EQ via hardware rather than software
    - XLR outputs
    - better metering
    - break button
    - Two Phantom powered Mic. inputs
    However for absolute best quality home recording, the pre-amps are of lesser quality compared to Yamaha or Scarlett 2i2 (Gain = 60 Db, EIN = -126)
    Yamaha is perhaps the better one for pure home-recording:
    - bus-powered USB (in most cases)
    - Superior pre-amps (Gain 60-64 Db and EIN = -128)
    - RCA outputs (rather than XLR which makes more sense for events on location), great to connect other HiFi devices
    - Software based and more flexible FX's (that do require a PC/Mac running)
    However metering on device is limited and of course there's just ONE Phantom powered Mic input. Also no hardware EQ on the Mic inputs and no XLR output.
    Which is why I believe the Yamaha is better for home-studio purposes, whilst the Mackie is perhaps the better choice for live events on locations, with PA equipment, unexpected failures (Break button), hardware/more tactile knobs/buttons etc.
    What is strange that neither device has support for in/outputs of MIDI DIN devices.
    In both cases the mixer/USB interfaces offer more flexibility than the Scarlett 2i2.
    Would you say that these are fair conclusions?

    Hi Jordan, I have a ProFX6v3. It puts out 2 USB channels but does have 4 USB channels total allowing for loopback returns. But it only allows ONE STEREO track recording on a DAW (I use Cakewalk). I really enjoy this Mackie for singing karaoke at home. But for RECORDING, I moved up to an EVO 8. I love the EVO 8; it has 4 USB in, 4 OUT. This allows me to record my voice (mono) on one DAW track and the background karaoke music on a separate stereo track.
    I learned one thing the hard way: while recording, I keep the HEADPHONE VOLUME relatively low, which allows for good solid volume (without clipping) on the DAW. I hope you'll do a thorough evaluation of the EVO 8. Fortunately my laptop uses USB-C. You can use Phantom power on all 4 XLR inputs of the EVO 8 with USB-C; Whereas with USB-A (which is getting obsolete anyhow) you can only get 2 Phantom Power XLR inputs, the 1-2.

      Help me please cause I have some questions.
      I have a phonic FireWire (no usb) mixer which one is perfect for me but I can't record to laptop cause the firewire is not supported anymore.
      What I find out is I need an audio mixer or an audio interface.
      So this audio Evo 8 is good for me?
      I mean I need minimum 2 track recording.
      But I think two buy a mixer with 2 separated track recording will be cost a lot.

      @@kabirbody I'm in the USA. Where do you live? I really like my EVO 8 but I find I can only use it for recording on my laptop. For everyday fun with music I use my Mackie Mixer. The ProFX6V3. I use it for singing usually with karaoke. If I connect it to a laptop, USB Channels 1 and 2 send audio to the computer and channels 3 and 4 send audio into the mixer. This is perfectly adequate for most uses I think.

    Hi, regarding Mackie, if USB 3-4 is turned on in 5/6 track, does then USB 3-4 belong in Inputs for BLEND? So you can blend between USB 3-4 output and USB 1-2 output? I'm wondering if it's convenient for live act where you might want to monitor what audience hears, what you hear and both. Second question - what about USB latency from DAWs point of view, for example, what Ableton Live is showing in audio setup?

My question is , will I be able to record on my PC and have the recording play on the Karaoke site like I could before . I already own a Focusrite 2i2 but I've been frustrated by some of its limitations like better "gain control" and lack of effects and EQ without adding software patches. I find them too confusing. I really want great simplicity and the tactile feel of turning a knob. With that said, I've 20 plus years of experience with Mackey products. Question: I am looking hard at the Profx6 and I know it has a computer interface built-in. Can I bypass that and plug it directly into the 2i2 via the mixer right and left-outs? I only do Zoom conferencing.

    • @AT-wl9yq
      @AT-wl9yq Před 2 lety

      Make sure the volume on your phone is up and/or not of mute. Some phones automatically cut the sound when you plug the phone into another device so it doesn't play too loud by accident and possibly damage something. That said, depending on the phone, you may be able to use the phone as a transport and connect it directly to a dac. The one in a mixer is going to sound better than the one in your phone.

      The Notepad is a better mixer in almost every category for the same price point. The Notepad can change its 'USB recording inputs' instead of just the forced Mix L+R on the Mackie. It has a true AUX buss in addition to the main mix. It has real FX send knobs for each channel. Its headphone output is NOT tied to the Mains like the Mackie. ( Super important if your tracking someone ) The Mackie has (1) FX engine and the effects are either on or off and can not be altered in any way. ( you can't adjust how long/short the delays are, etc. ) The Notepad has (3) FX engines and can use all 3 engines at the same time and they are editable WITH Tap Tempo! The Notepad has 8 full size channels ( 2 complete stereo ) in the same size package as Mackie's 4 channels with the 1/8 inch input. The notepad can have (2) completely independent headphone mixes ( mandatory when tracking with another musician/vocalist ). Same noise specs. Pretty substantial difference.

    • @AT-wl9yq
      @AT-wl9yq Před 2 lety

      I don't think its bi-directional. You can use your phone as a transport and send the signal to the dac in your mixer, but I don't think you can go from the mixer to your phone. If you want to record the separate tracks from your mixer, use a computer. Its much simpler. You just have to make sure the audio interface in the mixer supports sending individual tracks through a usb connection. Some of them only send the 2 channel stereo main output through usb.
